Let me respond about Oglethorpe's field in 2004 in right field we pretty much called it the swamp or the quagmire it didn't matter if it was 90 degrees and sunny for a full week the "swamp" never dried up.  So I can see why someone would call it spongy.  Everywhere else played fast and hard sometimes too hard but right field was terrible.

Since then Oglethorpe has not laser graded the outfield but they did put in some drainage pipes under the field which corrected the swamp problem.  The main problem with Oglethorpe's field now is the outfield fence and the grass around the home

Secondly, The field I hated the most to play on was Centre, The grass is I guess bluegrass it is thick it seemed always too long to me.  Also the infield dirt was like running around in a sandbox always tough to stretch out a double or steal bases.  Also, the wind always seemed to blowing out when they hit and in when we hit.  Im just bitter from the last time I was up there when it seemed like they hit 20 homeruns in a four game series.

I do have to say that Centre has made huge strides from back when I first came to the SCAC and I didn't see the field this year.  I do believe the field looks nice from the point of view from the dugout or stands so that's a plus.

Oglethorpe dropped its 9th straight to visiting Reinhardt College.  11-4

Going into the third the score was 0 - 0 and the Petrels took out their starting pitcher Keubler who I believe hadn't given up a hit (had walked some guys) and the reliever got rocked the Petrels gave up 3 homeruns and 9 runs in the third inning.

I don't know exactly why Keubler was taken out but I could only assume it was a predetermined pitching by committee or that he'd only go two regardless.

I've got a fun fact about Keubler who can actually pitch both right and left handed.  He has recorded outs using both hands this year.  However he mainly uses his left.

Oglethorpe lost two more today loosing 4-2 and 7-6 to Maryville.  Lets just hope this team does not continue down the same path last years team did by loosing 22 straight.   I cant see that happening but they are just struggling to put all the pieces together for a complete game.

Lou... I heard through the grape vine that Cornwell isn't allowed to play anymore this year.  I do not know any details just that he wont play again this year.  The back up shortstop has fractured his wrist and they are hoping to have him back at some point this season. Llano who was the starting shortstop last year has regained his spot.  I know an outfielder quit as well, but he didn't play much last year and looked like he wasn't going to play much this year.

Ralph I am intrigued by your commit.  My question is who do you think in the SCAC-East could challenge Rhodes even with weakness showing through?

My guess would have to be Depauw, they always seem to field a good team that can compete with anyone on any given day.
Oglethorpe won its first two games today so they were quick to rebound after a terrible first game.   I know the past few years a loss like the one to La Grange would of set them back.  Oglethorpe might be young enough not know any better than to just fight and claw victories this year in the SCAC, but to take the top spot the jury is still out.

Centre I really don't know much about their recruits or their team this year other than they no longer have the big bat of Moore.
and Sewanne... Im not sure they will be much improved from last year.

Just out of curiosity, when will the first regional rankings come out?

Frank, I listened to the OU-Millsaps game on the Petrel Sports Network and you were correct it did not sound like the Petrels were playing a 2-11 team.  I think the fact that the Petrels are missing their three post players hurt them and will continue to hurt them.  Millsaps out rebounded the Petrels by 12 boards.

I swear that I heard Bowe's named called every 30 seconds either blocking someone or grabbing rebounds.  It was a very impressive night from her.   11 blocks is ridiculous.

Wow. I am surprised that Flight of the Petrel has not reported about the Oglethorpe's Womens game yet.

So I will try to step in.

Oglethorpe defeated Methodist 92 - 70.

Methodist is now 4 - 2 with both losses coming from the Lady Petrels.  The average margin  of those two losses is 29 points

I don't know all the great stats but I do know that Anna Findley had 31 points

and  more importantly Katie Kulavic scored her 1,000 point in the first half of this game.

Congratulations Katie!

Oglethorpe is now 8-0 and has 17 game winning streak at home.
