Gem Shooz is/was new to this board. I enjoyed reading about the SLIAC and offering my observations. Time to move on. Good luck to all.

My mistake - there were two techs in the Mac-Fontbonne game. Martinez had one for Mac. I think he played about 2 minutes.
From what I've seen, Fontbonne clearly is the #1 team in the SLIAC. They should run the table. Upsets can and will happen, but FC should emerge as the #1 team in the conference and post season.
Looking down the road, is it too early to see who is coming back in 2008-2009?

Fontbonne beats Mac by 19. Margin was 11 in the first half and 8 in the second half. Long, Compton, and Polston all played well for Mac, but it wasn't enough. Mac just not deep enough or talented enough this year. Branch and Fogerty each had 24 for Fontbonne. Branch played 34 minutes and Fogerty 31 minutes in a 19 point win. Mac was 12-33 from the arc. That's a lot of 3 pt shots, but without an inside presence, Mac has to take what it can get. One technical in the game - Fogerty.

I don't think MacMurray College will be closing its doors any time soon. It's death on this Board has been greatly exagerated before. President Hester has brought renewed excitement and enthusiasm to the campus, and she is committed to raising the endowment and improving the long-term financial health of the institution. That being said, like many of the other colleges of similar size, MacMurray will constantly be challenged by the numbers. Contrary to the formersliaccommissioner's comment, I don't think MacMurray is the only school in the SLIAC that has had a difficult time keeping coaches. Eureka and Blackburn come to mind, and there may be others. Coaches leave for better opportunities. It happens. For those who havn't been to MacMurray College, check out the link below (I hope I copied and pasted it correctly). The school initiated a capitol improvement plan this past spring and summer, and made more than $1 million in improvements to the physical plant and infrastructure. A similar plan will take place again this spring and summer. Not the sign of a college preparing to close its doors.

If you haven't been to the Reagan exhibit at Eureka College, it's a must see. First class and full of original artifacts. There's also a piece of the original Berlin Wall close by, which is placed next to the spot where President Reagan spoke to a large gathering of people on campus. I'm pretty sure President Regan visted Eureka College twice while he was president and one of those times was a commencement speaker.
The Winston Churchill exhibit on the Westminster Campus is equally, if not more, impressive. It's where Churchill gave his "Iron Curtain" speech. The exhibit is in a beautiful church on the Westminster campus and it's loaded with incredible pictures and pieces from Churchill. There's a picture of Churchill, alongside President Truman, speaking in the Westminster Gym. Packed with people. Probably wasn't too hot.
Good luck to the underdogs today. Save travels for everyone.

"Depew - If you have elgibility left, Mac could probably use the roster players."
Not sure what that's supposed to mean, fcnews. Hope it was a meaningless jab. Mac is proud of its tradition and program, even during the lean years.
Mac will be hanging its 2006-2007 SLIAC co-championship banner at one of its Saturday home games in February. There will be a brief ceremoney between the men's and women's games honoring the team. What a great bunch of kids.
Fontbonne comes to Mac on Saturday. Hope Mac doesn't lose any of it's players, as they did last year with Jerel Robertson.

Congrats to MacMurray on their 76-64 win last night over Lincoln Christian. Billy Long scored 25 points, Neil Compton tallied 20, and Adam Polston added 15.
Hopefully the Highlanders can string together some wins after some pretty tough losses.

Looked at a couple this week's predictions for Wednesday night from regular posters, but didn't see anyone mention the LCC at Mac game. They're still in the SLIAC aren't they? For those who have seen both teams, what do you think?

Tough loss for Mac. Coach Creal is doing a wonderful job with the team, although it doesn't show up in the won-loss column. This team will be much improved in 2008-2009. In terms of support from the school, President Hester and AD Shelley Whitaker are extremely supportive of the basketball program. Mac is very fortunate to have them.

Nice to hear from Seth Whalum and that he stills follows the MacMurray team. More than one person on this board cast serious doubt on the MacMurray athletic department when it was reported that Whalum had an extra year of eligibility. Would be fun to go back in the archives and pull out some of those quotes. Some pretty wicked comments aimed at Whalum and MacMurray. Turns out Whalum indeed had the extra year of eligibility. Maybe an apology or two is in order?

Saw where Mac trailed Webster by 7 at the half and lost by 14. I think others on this board were predicting a more lopsided score. If anyone saw the game, please enlighten us. Just by looking at the box score, this game wasn't the blowout that some had expected. On the stat sheet, Kunz didn't do much. Kurtz from Westminster didn't do much against Mac either. Wonder what's going on...

Word from Mac is Greene and Coleman will not play the second semester and save their time for a full season in 2008-2009. Coleman will have one year left, Greene two.

If there are any "new faces" for MacMurray, you won't see them until the second semster starts, which is next Tuesday. That's when I'd check the box scores.
Sorry about the Westminster-Illinois College SLIAC inference. I'm not that familier with the all of the SLIAC teams yet.
