A lot of people are very high on Piedmont this year, but I am not one of them. I think they are seeing what playing with a target on your back is like.
We'll see how the rest of the series plays out, but the win over Marietta had to sway you a bit, right?

DIFFERNCE between last years Piedmont and this year "They don't beat themselves" and they never say die even when they lose a lead.

To answer Ralph's question I looked at the Trinity site and they play two games on Sat, and a single game on Sunday. I am pretty sure they will be traveling by bus, which is about a 10HR trip. So they will likely leave early Friday morning, get in an afternoon practice Friday night, games on weekend, back on bus Sunday. Gives the student-athletes ample time to catch up on homework.  ;D

The split was stupid IMO, and it hurts the Eastern schools much more than the Western schools, as they are already have in place what is needed to keep their AQ's in everything except football and this will get worked out in the next year.

stupid or not it's done and I (even though this is our last year) am happy to see it, while the  SCAC is a great conference it really was like 2 separate conferences I mean East never saw West until tournament time and then it was 4, until the decrease to 3, teams facing each other. JUST STUPID IN AND OF ITSELF!

Suwanee much tougher than expected, possible a bit of fatigue setting in for the Petrels, Sam looked very good as did the relievers. Hoban struggled a bit but kept us in it, a few of the typical hitters are struggling right now but the good thing is that others are stepping up and filling the gaps, if the offense all starts clicking at once these guys can compete with anyone.

OU COMES FROM BEHIND TO BEAT #3 UW- STEVENS POINT PETRELS SITTING ON A 5 GAME WINNING STREAK.This team has, just maybe figured out a few things, they are getting contributions from the entire roster.Pitching has been better than good. Another tough match up tomorrow as they face Washington and Jefferson, then a long bus ride home and a double header against Suwanee on Tuesday, and then Wed. face Selma, 2 days off and then we get Centere for the weekend. Hope the pitching can hold up to 10 games in 9 days.

Having seen 3 games so far, not really so sure the bats are going to play that big a role. Our game 1 saw 3 HR
only 1 in game 2 but a handful of DBL's in both 2 and 3.

OU hitting was non existant  at best, in games 1 and 2, but came around a little in game 3 most positive about game 3 was the come back.

OU usually comes out of the gate fast and then hits a bit of a skid maybe the slower than usual start is a good thing for us.

I have seen a lot of movement of position players and am somewhat surprised by this, as it looked as though the defense was in pretty good shape and pretty easy to set up for this season.

As usual, pitching is going to be an issue and utilization of the talent could be a question mark. Some coaches make up there minds and are right to the bitter end win or lose.

at any rate good luck to all in the season and hopefully we will see you in Tennessee, BSC is still not eligable don't ya know?

Well lets see.... if TU is looking forward to Sunday this 1st game prediction by casual could come about but....... hey Get to the tournament and anything can happen. And as far as BSC  goes I will tell you this that squad would compete against many smaller D-I programs at least the ones I am familiar with in Georgia, yes OU was in 2 of those games to the end but they also kept it close against Georgia State last season but ended up giving up 5 runs in the end to get busted up pretty good. This game takes a lot of talent but it also take a lot of heart to stay in it when your down, to hold on to it when you go ahead, and finish. The loss' to BSC still had some positives attached to them you just have to see them and understand them.

Wow it is nice to only have to decide how long to get the hotel reservations for the weekend and not about 2 teams not playing each other. WEATHER controls the schedules not the coaches, OU would have loved to played Centere last year, and most of us feel we would have been able to squeek into the tournament if we had played them, but weather controlled that situation as well. I want to wish all the teams good luck this weekend, but I will say this, if BSC was eligable, in my humble opinion, there would be little to discuss, Granted OU lost 2 of the 3 games primarly on lack of pitching but BSC is a dynamic offensive squad. It will be a very good  for the SCAC when they become eligable.

O.U. Has SOOOOO much talent outside of the pitching they really need someone on the pitching staff to step up, and I belive a few of them will, Key is going to be how the coaching staff  utilizes what they have available to them and not completely burn out, or not have someone ready to come off the bench if needed. This offense is ligit and could be what carries them to a conference tournament opportunity

OU just layed the wood to Emory, 19 hits posted by the Petrels who almost gave up the game up 6-zip and here came Emory put up  a 6 spot, Ou charged back to go ahead and never looked back.

was good to just get in a game next up for OU Piedmont weather permitting.

I agree  springbruce09 that it would have been nice for Centre and OU to have played. I hear Centre wanted to play them the following weekend while on their spring break but OU wouldn't adjust. Centre needed  the wins for their conference standing, (14-2 against OU last 4 years),to take some pressure off later in the season. But in all reality in the end Centre stepped up and OU didn't.

wrong! OU coach was on the phone for over an hour trying to get the LaGrange coach to allow the team we were scheduled to play that weekend to go to La Grange and play them and let Centre come to OU and get the series in.

Belive me regardless of the 14-4 record Center had in the past 4 years this was not the same OU team they had faced and judging from there season record not the same Centre as well. OU would have gotten Centre at a poin in the season when they were not playing there best (Centre) so for you to assume they would have won the series is ridiculous if your that good at predicting things give me your phone # number I could use some insight on who to pick in next years Super Bowl. That being said I still wish them the best of luck this week.

Also just wanted to say good season to the OU squad and coaches, this team will be better prepared next season to get it done in the big games, this year is a good building block.

I know they will be loosing a few guys but I feel confident they have a few guys that are ready to step in and hopefully this seasons record will help some in recruiting.

again good luck to all the teams in the tournament I know no matter who wins it The SCAC will be well represented.

I have see alot of D-1 through D-3 baseball in my life and I will say that as a conference the SCAC has some really good talent on the field.

In the interim, any basic knowledge of DePauw would be greatly appreciated. Also, since I'm hoping my boss will let me cash in some vacation time, advice on some of Jackson's better watering holes would be dandy as well.

I am just assuming but  they went with #1 guy against OU on Sat. and he is good but not great, OU had 9 hits off of him just none when they were needed there #2 guy had just as much velo but FB was falt and straight, OU hit a couple of dinngeres off of him and I think had 7or 8 hits off of him before they wnet to the pen. Defensivley thay are solid and can hit from 1-9, However lacking any consistant power up and down the order and they run, run ,run, Not surprising against OU ( not a good CS record).

Would like to congradulate all the teams that made it in and wish them luck, in particular Centre, wow 9-21 they are the absolute proof that anyone can get in, it all depends on who is playing the hottest baseball at the right time.

OH! and by the way Sarisky is the real deal, make no mistake about it.

Well I'm new to the board so I thought I'd chime in,

I'm not sure I would say OU played uninspired ball this past weekend at BSC, just maybe a little sloppy. BSC is a solid team throughout and OU played right with them in all 3 games...the difference was just OU made a few more mistakes and as BATR said, you can't make mistakes against good teams like BSC. From what I have seen of the OU program in the past, this year is a huge step forward and I believe they will compete for the East division this year and for the next few to come.

Daniel Sarisky was filthy Saturday and has been dominant as the closer (he legitimately hit 95 mph on Saturday at BSC multiple times). Andy Farrey should be getting talked about more as he is hitting .430 and has one of the best pure lefty swings I've ever seen. JJ Rizzo has been raking (.400 BA) and playing great defense, Andrew Llano is over .350 and is a clutch hitter. Mark Hoban, who transferred from Piedmont, is 5-1, and their new side-arming setup man Spencer Kennedy has been lights out since dropping down.

Tommorow should be very interesting as the Petrels get the opportunity to take on Division I Georgia State. No matter what the result is, it should be a great experience for the players to play a team at that level. Im pretty sure they will be pitching by committee, seeing as they have a big series this weekend with Rhodes. It should be a lot of fun tomorrow and this weekend against Rhodes!

Please don't misunderstand, when I say "uninspired" I don't mean they didn't play competitivley, they just let some good opportunities slip away (29 LOB) across 3 games comes to mind. And yes there are several positives to this team from top to bottom, the freshman have stepped up when called upon, the upperclassmen are getting it done, and the experience is showing through, finding good pitching from Cornwell, and kennedy is huge, Tuttle is showing signs of promise, and overall the team is playing well, In my humble opinion they just need to belive!

As far as competing for the East this year, well, they have shown that they should, but..... having BSC as a non issue for this season helps. Missing the series with Centre probably hurt more then helped as this would have given them an opportunity to get a few Conf. games under there belt prior to facing what I belive to be the power of the East.

I have been following the OU team last year and this year and it is good to just have something to talk about this season.

Not taking anything away from BSC, they are a very good team top to bottom, but OU played very uninspired ball this weekend. OU showed they could hit the cream of the crop ( pitching stats) BSC but you  have to play a full 9 innings both offense and defense, you can't strand 11 runners and expect to be succesfull against a team like BSC.

Maybe the 9 game winning streak had something to do with it but hopefully this weekend will be a wakeup call for OU.
