The SUNYAC-s got off to a good start this weekend with Oswego State winning their first two games handily and are now ranked #4 in this weeks D-3 Hoops Top 25 poll. Congrats to the Lakers!!!

My beloved Golden Eagles had an up and down weekend, beating Oneonta 87-76 on Friday and then shooting 29% the next day and lost to a good New Paltz squad 67-55.

I did notice that their best scorer, Beckett was missing from the box score all weekend. Must have had injury or illness. Hope he gets well soon, those are big shoes to fill. Go Eagles!!!

The Eagles had a seesaw battle with the Hobart Statesman on Tuesday before dropping an 85-72 contest to the Statesman. Hobart closed it out with a string of free throws to gain the victory. They are a very strong team with very good guard play. Congrats to the Statesman.

My Eagles travel to Pennsylvania for a couple of games, starting with Keystone College tonight. Good Luck, Coach Clarke and Bport!!!

It is almost time for Hoops to begin. Couple of huge changes in the SUNYAC coaching ranks, Coach Spanbauer from Cortland and Coach Dunne from my beloved Eagles. Those guys had great careers as players and coaches, and I wish them both the best in their future endeavors. They will be greatly missed, but I am sure neither program will miss a beat.

I know Interim Coach Joe Clarke and am sure he will continue to maintain the excellence of play at the Port. They have alot of returners and looks like they added some much needed inside players.

They open up tomorrow night @ Hobart! Good Luck Coach Clarke and my Eagles!!!!!

Congrats to Coach Leone and the Oswego Lakers!!! You guys represented the SUNY's with distinction!!! I watched all 3 of your games even though I am a die-hard Port fan. Enjoy the off-season and see you next season!!

Hey Magic--Ditto your comment. The Lakers are representing the SUNYAC's very well. I wish it could have been my Eagles but am very proud of Coach Leone and the Lakers!!! Keep it going!!!! GO LAKERS!!!!

In total agreement with you. The Laker team this season has really stepped it up this last quarter of the season. They are beating some very good SUNY teams soundly. I hope they host too even though I would still have to watch on video. My Eagles have to face them Friday night and I am hoping for a repeat performance of the early season game. They better have their AAA game on because the Lakers are for real. Good Luck, Eagles!!!!

BTW--I think the last team to show this type of SUNY domination was the 2001-02 Brockport Golden Eagles that went 28-3 and reached the Elite 8!

Bport is on the most dreaded trip of the season to the "North Country." They played a close first half with Plattsburgh but lead by 3, 41-38 getting loose. They used the first 10 minutes of the second half to extend that lead to double digits and coasted from there winning 81-63. They got some good minutes out of a couple of their freshman players which was nice to see. Good start to the weekend.

On to Potsdam and hopefully another victory. Good luck today!!!!

Oneonta remains on "the cusp." They are a very good team and Bull is a horse(get the play on words) but still looking up to the top of the heap. The Eagles were on the ropes but TA hits a twisting layup in final seconds for the victory. Bport moves to 8-1 in conference play and complete a very strong weekend of play. Keep it going. Congrats!!!!

A correction to this weekend's games, NP and Oneonta will be at the Port!!! Let's go Eagles!!!

My Eagles turned a close halftime score,42-39, into a blow out in the 2nd half. Final score 86-62! The Eagles haven't played with that defensive intensity since the Oswego game. Cortland couldn't mount any kind of offense in the second half. Beckett caught fire and finished with 27 points and Wallace added 16 points and played well at both ends. This was a great team effort with many contributors at both ends of the floor. Well done, Bport!

Big weekend @NP and Oneonta. Good Luck

I attended the Mauro Panaggio Memorial Tourney at DME Academy in Daytona Beach on December 18-19. I got to see my Golden Eagles split two games losing to Illinois College and defeating North Vermont at Lydon. It was a fun trip and nice to spend a little time with the Bport guys. I hope they had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!! Get ready to take care of business in the SUNY's!!! Good luck!!!

Spanny's R ed Dragons had to travel to Fredonia and squeaked one out 70-64. Now at the Eagles' Nest against Dunne's Red Hot Eagles at 5PM. Both are 2-0 in conference play can gain an early season advantage for SUNYAC playoff time.

Can my Eagles put together a GREAT weekend of hoops? I give them the edge tonight at home but will be a barnburner. Spanny hates to lose to the other PE school, THE PORT! Good luck, Eagles!!!

Bear- You are so right. The Eagles played a super defensive game and scored just enough. Thank
god the the foul shots were falling tonight.(17-23) The Lakers are tough whereever you play them, but my Eagles SOARED tonight!!!!

A tough Cortland squad comes to the Eagles' nest tomorrow PM. Got to keep the streak rolling!! Rest up and take the fire out of those Dragons!!!

Bport and Oswego is big early season matchup and should be very competitive. It will be interesting to see how the Lakers defend Beckett for the Eagles. Wallace is the veteran but Beckett has had a great start to the season. I give the Lakers an edge over my beloved Eagles, but games are played for a reason!!! Good Luck, Eagles!!!
