How many Calvin posters have not wished Hope good luck???  I wish them safe travel, no injuries, that they play their best...and lose in the finals again!

championship players on championship teams

...minus Jones

In my biased opinion, I would come off the bench with Aultman, Veldhouse, Prins, Meulenberg, A. Jones

HM:
Meckes
Crawford
Cramer
Immink
Kroschell

I just think that those 5 players were the most valuable in the most accurate definition of the word.  Their respective teams would have lost multiple games without their all-around games...I know KVS would take Winkle over any player, and I would also think that Turner and GVW would choose both DePree and Holstege as their MVP's as well

Great Topic!!
But I will take:
Winkle
Veenstra
DePree
Holstege
VanderHeide

VS any 5 combo

There are a lot of things that strike me about this board the last few days that most of you might disagree with.

First off, MVH for sure is league MVP which is verified by this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbzIl4uw_Wk

Another thing: GVW is not the best coach on his own staff, so please do not compare him with KVS or Coach Turner.

Third: Calvin will advance furthest in the NCAA's

Interesting game today at the Fieldhouse...no d = no W.  Interesting decision not to double from the start, and what took so long to go to the double team??  One-on-one, Mantel vs. MVH was laughable.  Marcus killed him all game, mentally and physically.  Englesma didnt play because when he was in the game, he was soft.  The loss of Meckes was never so apparent until now.
That said, Calvin played OK and still almost won despite career days from MVH and Wolfe, so that is promising.  Giving up 55% shooting will never get it done.  Didnt get it done on the glass either, especially in the opening minutes when Hope earned four or five O boards.
Room for improvement is always a good sign...Go Knights!

maybe this year will be the first ever where GVW gets a win with INFERIOR talent over Calvin  ;D  Maybe he could pull on Caleb's shirt to alter his shot.

it has been a long time since Calvin's bench was called on to do some scoring, probably since the year KVS' title.  the offense (loosely used) has not been geared to set up those players for scoring opportunities.  so to compare Calvin's bench to Hope's by scoring numbers is not the best measuring stick.  Even though the W-L column right now is not in our favor, history is...GVW, as pointed out, will typically not use more than 7 or so guys when crunch time comes around.  On the flip side, KVS uses 9 or 10 every year with great success, to go with some hardware, in case anyone forgot (we've got extras).  Go back to the Final Four year in 05- Calvin brought players off the bench deep into that tournament run, I recall a huge game from Roelofs in Aurora.  This years team lacks that interior depth, but makes up for it with superior guard play.  If only we can get the bigs some "marbles" this year, we can go a solid 9 deep and make a run.

Kzoo is a perfect game to prepare for Hope.  They will scrap and defend and play a little bit dirty, it will be a nice challenge.  Go Knights!!!!!!
