78rmc, It depends on which Carlson is back. The one proven "pain in the A$$ Carlson" or a new and matured CARLSON. I will go so far as to say that if it is the old Carlson than the Jackets are in trouble!!

Did Carlson and Coach Rhoades have problems with one another, making the coaching change one of the reasons for his return, or would he have been back regardless?

Also, quote from badcall: "9. Randolph-Coach Nunally does one heck of a job with this program."

Thought I saw a ghost for a minute, but the Randolph coach spells his name Nunley.

Carlson was returning regardless.

I agree it is probably unlikely short makes it but I honestly (biased or not) would take him over any other.  Effort is never a question with him.  And we can all agree the ODAC is a great great confrence and to be named its poy is an honor so i think he should at least be considered.

Justin Wansley was All american material I deff. think short is.  The kid averaged 30 his senior year in high school, ppl say it wont translate to college, then he comes and averages almost 20 his senior year at Macon.  Plus he has tons of intangibles that arent on the stat sheets.  I believe he is at least honorable mention

thank you for your honesty

youve given me good reasons for everything youve said so what do you think about justin short for all american candidate?  not poy but to make a team

the most certainly could have beaten both of those teams but that was extremely early in the year and both were on the road  if they had played them later in the season when they hit their stride i dont think they would have had any problem with either of the teams

Ursinus finished 12 and 13?  Then that says something about the people that do the mid season rankings.  And I dont have to see other teams to know that rmc was deserving.  Not saying other teams didnt b/c im sure they did.  BUt thats why d3 is flawed.  There at least needs to be some sort of NIT for d3.  20 and 5 is a great record.  Im not sure what more your need.  And im sure the guilford loss hurt but if you saw the game you know it could have went either way.  Rmc was winning the majority of the time and it just fell through at the end.  If the game was at crenshaw then im sure it would have went the other way.  RMC went 14 and 2 in the confrence! the two times the lost were against tourny teams now.  sorry im just frustrated and still believe they deserved a spot.   Was it rmc's fault ursinus ended up with a terrible year?  No but when they played them they were ranked number 13 in the country and still beat them.  They did the most the could with there chances.  And were terribly unlucky that they drew vwc in round 1.  i saw the game and saw vwc several times this year.  they were no seven seed.  look out for them to win a few games in the tourny

2nd year in a row RMC gets the SHAFT

Randolph-Macon had a sub-.500 opponents winning percentage and no wins against regionally ranked teams. Resume very similar to St. Mary's (Md.), which was also left out.

Adding secondary criteria doesn't help -- means Randolph-Macon is 0-2 against regionally ranked opponents instead of 0-1. Means RMC drops 50 points in winning percentage.

Anecdotally, the most impressive win is beating Roanoke by five at home. They lost to the seven seed in the conference quarterfinals.

Guilford's resume isn't much better but out of region they did have a victory against a regionally ranked team (McDaniel) and, of course, they beat RMC, so they were on the table ahead of them. Trinity (Texas), which we believe got the last spot in the tournament from the South Region, had a better opponents winning percentage. Anecdotally, lost by one point to UW-Stevens Point in overtime.

RMC beat number 13 Ursinus early in the year.  And if that isnt important then neither should the very small losses on the road against ranked teams early in the year.  RMC was 20 and 5!   20 and 5!!! This is what makes d3 very frustrating.  20 and 5 is deserving of post season play.  (I took away the 6 b/c it was to D1 richmond).  And yes they lost to vwc the 7 seed.  but so did every1 else that played them in the tournament!  they were no 7 seed.  things arent always what they seem on paper.  if you have seen rmc in person you know they are deserving.  not to mention justin short is deserving of being mentioned for an all american team

does VWC winning the whole thing help RMC since they lost to the odac champs?

rmc1982 -  you are not sure if they deserve it?  They had an amazing season. 20 and 6 is pretty damn good especially with 1 of the losses being to UofR.  Not to mention the fact the majority of the losses were by a very small margin.  They did not play well yesterday at all and it was a bad time for a bad game.  Vwc is just a terrible matchup for RMC.  But dont try to say they dont deserve it.  1 game doesnt define a season.  I am on record as saying had they gotten past last night they would have won they tourney.  They absolutely deserve to get in and I hope they do, and if they do watch out.  Bad game or not they wont quit.  Especially Short even when the game was slipping away he still canned three 3's in a row.  The kid wont quit.  I hope to see RMC in the tourney and yes the do deserve it just like Guilford deserves it
