I'd have to agree with La Verdad on this one.  Maybe I'm biased because he is a loyal customer, but let's not forget how much he was playing by his second year.  And I'm just a waitress- not any type of hostess or anything, but since the diner is a social setting let me provide an introduction.

Looks like I won't be able to make it down for Friday's game.  The entire staff will be huddled around the computer in the back hoping the Jeffs can take care of business and give us a reason to close the diner and head down to Salem.

As a member of the greater Amherst community, I would suggest to all those going down to Salem to be politely arrogant - instead of "rudely."

Anyone know when it's determined if Amherst will play first or second next friday - gotta figure out when I need to hit the road and have someone else cover my shifts at the diner.

Also, Richard Stockton...?  Ask La Verdad why it was never in doubt - sandwiches.

Hoopster, two things.  I do not believe close counts in basketball.  It might, but I don't think it does.  One place where close does not count is the diner.  For example: if I were to pour a glass of water on someone's lap instead of his or her glass I could not ignore it, because well, I was close.  And while I would like to take pride in my straw wrapper twirling on milkshakes, "Best Waitress Ever" didn't earn her nickname by not having the best wrapper twirls.

And second, standing at 6'3, I know that you don't get penalized or handicapped for being tall.  While I am sure we all appreciate your ability to check the Amherst roster for height, it might as well just be an additional stat.  Take it from me - reigning mvp of the WMDBL (Western Mass. Diner Basketball League)

Friar T, you are not alone.  I knew Fletcher was great since his first order at the diner.  It was just the way he emphasized the "CH" sound in challah toast.

And Pat, while I am sure Dan Wheeler gave you a very gracious and humble response.  I could spit in his coffee, tell him I did so, and probably still receive a tip out of the kindness of his heart.  Had you asked Tim or Dan O'Shea they most likely would have flipped the table over like I had forgotten to take their muffins off the grill.  (I'll never forget the time that happened.  Two wasted muffins not to mention forks and knives everywhere.)

Brandon Jones not player of the week?  I think I am going to go put something sad on the jukebox and drown my sorrows in a pink.

Cinnamon toast three on the house all night.  All you have to do is ask for the "30 in 27 Special."

Might have to bump library, dvden, beard and other beard from the VIP table tonight.  A hearty helping of a Jones Special and challah toast will be waiting there instead.

I will take Verdad's word for it.  The only spanish I know comes from a guy with a tattoo on his forearm that just says "Martha."

While we can point out Pat's failings and backtrackings, quite easily, perhaps it's not worth our time at this point.  Personally, I have to push the tables in the back together for when the Rocky Horror crew comes in.

In my readings Pat often claims his stance as a legitimate journalist.  I assume at this point that ESPN and USA Today have paid him off to create something more worthless than Division 1 week to week polls.  I'm at the diner during most Amherst games, so let's get some information up about the play of a team that seems to be seperating itself from the pack during a very important part of the season.

Right now, the only reason Pat Coleman is important to me is that he has to come in and pay for his Monte Cristo.  It's getting cold.  Walzy, what are the odds on whether or not he will eat it anyway?

You're in luck.  Extra butter is the only way toast comes around here.

Pat, I'll keep your Monte Cristo warm.

I started checking out these message boards since I think every team in the NESCAC has eaten in the diner since I started working here.  I was listening to the game from the Amherst radio feed, but the guy from DVDen made me turn it off.  Something about random screaming amidst annoying conversation.  I need to try and get wireless back in the kitchen...

Clearly, Amherst has seperated itself from the pack.  Even though I haven't seen them as often as last season, I would assume it has something to do with me and 3109.  Matt, Fletcher, Kevin, remember me?  I felt right at home talking to you in my surprisingly large 6'3 frame.  I hope my best customer, Brandon Jones, is ok.  Any updates on him?  Maybe a few strawberry milkshakes could do him some good.

La Verdad, call me.
