I think Mugsy just confirmed what I said.  They were 5/16 on third down conversions.  Almost 110 yards came on two long passes, one being a gadget play.  I agree netting over 400 yards is very good against a good Augie D.  It's just the flow of the game is not indicative of a team who can sustain possession to put a game away.

Wheaton D played pretty well and bottled up the Augie O for most of the game.  Offense is still shaky although I really enjoy watching Velling at tail.  He's just so elusive.  Not sure what is wrong with Gingg, but Velling is filling in very well.  Line play is really average so far.  Augie nose dominated the interior.  It looks like they aren't getting much drive off the line.  Running between the tackles is non-existant except for counters.  Nice win, but I'm hoping they get a little more consistant on offense.  I haven't seen many sustained drives this season.  The hurry-up, as in 2 minute drill and not the no-huddle, as well as trick plays seem to be working and that's been the deciding factor so far.

I saw your post earlier on the injuries at Wheaton, Theobold is a sprain ankle and Lang is done with an ACL tear.

Very ugly win by Wheaton.  Multiple missed xp's, uncharacteristic penalties, Hope ran all over Wheaton for much of the game, even offensive play calling was interesting throughout on offense.  Not very fun game to watch as a Wheaton fan.

There are 8 classes for football in Illinois and 8A is the largest, so 6A would be at the upper end of school size.  Their enrollment is slightly over 1500.

Greg,

I wasn't commenting on your statement.  I was commenting on Usee's.  He used the term "don't know about the accuracy"  and I simple stated that it was in fact accurate.

I hope it works out well and know that the players are excited.

Actually, the NPU hire is accurate.

But Jesse did play in the first series.

Usee, you are right.  Pokorny ran a 4.34.  At least it made for lively conversation.

Hey Pat, I did remember that rule.  The plays in question though were out of bounds and the clock never stopped.  Not even for the ball to be reset.

Usee, I'm only going on what's posted in the Wheaton weight room as the best times/lifts for current and all players.

Hard to imagine how nobody knew Pokorny.  He ran a 4.23 40 and was a primary target all year.

Additionally, Jesse Scott played the first series against MUC and then came out for the rest of the game.

I didn't really think MUC was celebrating, it felt more like they were hanging on for dear life.  After the first quarter, UWW basically outplayed them the rest of the way.  One tipped pass from winninng outright.

Did anyone else notice the clock running during the out of bounds pass plays on UWW last drive for a touchdown.  I think they lost at least 40 secs on that drive alone.  Particularly on two pass plays on MUC end of the field.  May or may not have made a difference, but would have required MUC to make a first down to run out the clock.

Glad to see UWW make a game out of what looked at the beginning to be a blowout.

I think the comment earlier was dead on.  Monmouth should have run the ball twice and Wartburg would not have been able to move the ball 80+ yards in the remaining 15-20 secs that would have been left.  The QB for the Scots was awesome.  Both teams played well today and I believe Monmouth was the better team, but Wartburg did what they needed to given the opportunity they had.

Very exciting.  Congrats Andy.  I have looked at the chiefs site and nothing posted there, so I'm hoping this is accurate.  Wheaton site has a nice story on this.
