Quote from: thescottharris on March 09, 2025, 09:28:59 AMCan't say I enjoyed it, but TOUCHE'! What I said would be our downfall all year-Poor shooting and lack of size- beat us over the weekend! Cant shoot it great all the time and when you get beat on the boards when you don't is a recipe for a loss! Good Luck to your Tigers! Hope Roanoke can keep it going too! Good Luck to our women's team also playing at Gettysburg, who was our only loss all year. Don't want to bellyache about the men having to play on the road because you have to win on the road- thats the only downside about having two great programs! KUDOS to our ladies! GO JACKETS!Quote from: rmc1982 on February 27, 2025, 04:28:33 PMSince nobody has acknowledged the Elephant in the room........ I've been waiting for one of you "Hamsters"( and I mean that in the kindest way)to say something about the game last night??? More than that, I wonder how the first round loss will affect their NCAA seeding?? Hey- we could easily lose Saturday vs a very good Guilford team but a loss in the semis isn't as bad as losing in the first round plus the fact that unless the wheels fall off of the bus this weekend for our ladies we weren't gonna host in the first round anyway because it's the ladies turn. This one HAS to hurt those kids- the last few weeks they haven't been at their best and have not played up to the potential of the team that beat us TWICE earlier this year. I KNOW they're better than they have played lately. Any of you HSC guys have any insight as to why??We're gonna have to go on the road regardless of whether we win out or not for the first round at least. We are, however , seemingly peaking at a good time and playing some of our best basketball. I fear a team with size will perhaps be our downfall but you Tigers seemingly have it all, size, shooters, young fireballs - what up and what's wrong?? I'm not trying to be a smarta$$- I really don't watch any other teams much unless they're playing us. Just doesent seem right for them to stumble like this late and I'm not just talking about this one game. Thoughts??Hope you enjoyed seeing the Jackets getting handled in that L yesterday

GREAT GAME by the Quakers obviously! I'm on the west coast for work and didn't see it and all I could
Do is look at live stats, but it seemed GCtook over in the 2nd half and we couldn't hit a bull in the a$$ with a spade, as my Dad( RMC '49) would say!! Pulling for Hasas Quakers tomorrow , so our conference will have FOUR representatives!! Looks like us, HSC, and Roanoke are already in!! Also, CONGRATS to our ladies on the ODAC Crown! RMC HOFer David Kagey's daughter Catherine, a 5th year Senior after ACL surgery last year, led the way with 25pts, 10 RB,! GO JACKETS!!🐝🐝🐝

I'm on the left coast for work until Wednesday and I wasn't in any way trying to belittle HSC- my son went there - however-the last month they have stumbled... barely winning games or having to come back on big leads etc.... Basically not looking sharp. My entire point was that they haven't looked like the dominamt team they were the first few months ... I was wondering if there was an underlying reason for it that was not so obvious but beyond what has been reported. THATS ALL! Hey- they could come
Out world beaters in the NCAAS ... and it wouldn't surprise me a bit because Caleb Kimbrough is an awesome coach. They may very well still host- just maybe in a tougher pod! Who knows?? GO JACKETS!!

February 24, 2025, 05:04:23 PMQuote from: y_jack_lok on February 24, 2025, 09:28:29 AM^^^ Shenandoah has given RMC serious trouble the last three times they've met -- at SU and in the ODAC tourney last season and at SU this season. Coach Doyle has figured out how to play against the Jackets to give SU a chance to win. This game being in Crenshaw should help the Jackets, but I expect it to be a real battle.Nic Doyle grew up
And in the only game between H-SC and Lynchburg this season, the Tigers won by 11 at Lynchburg. Home court will Help H-SC, but I've watched parts of a number of Lynchburg's games. They've had some tough losses, but they are good enough to pull off an upset.
Wednesday's games are going to be fun.
With and played with my kids ! All three of them! Great young man and very smart! That's why he always plays us tough! He was a great player at VWU ALSO! We need to be at our best Wednesday !

After watching HOOPSVILLE last night it looks like even if we are top 8 and win the ODAC Tournament we may not host the first weekend of NCAA play because our women will get the nod to host- as long as the wheels don't fall off of the bus for them either. Its only fair and our women's team has had a great season so far- I guess thats just the price you pay for having great programs!CNU may be in a similar position, and maybe another program or two. No need to worry about it- good teams play well on the road, too! GO JACKETS!!

Both our Men's and Women's teams are hitting on all cylinders now!! Men only committed 3 turnovers THE ENTIRE GAME last night vs VWU!! Josh has those young kids confident going into the tournament! Have one last game Saturday at Randolph-hope they don't have a letdown! Lets get that #1 seed and get Crenshaw ROCKIN in the first round!

The RMC- VWU GAME Scheduled for Wednesday evening has been moved to tomorrow evening at 730 because of the impending Snowstorm. Should be a heck of a ballgame! Our women's team, who has already sewn up the #1 seed in the tournament, plays before the men's game! Should be a great crowd in Crenshaw!!

February 12, 2025, 02:57:08 PMQuote from: ziggy on February 12, 2025, 10:15:12 AMI must admit I've never fully understood the NPI/ Regional Rankings. For instance, TWO of our DIII losses have come against H-SC yet we're ahead of them (by hundreths of a point, but still ahead) so it must be SOS. Now, like Brian said earlier its a very miniscule lead and that could all change with HSC's games this week but we're still ahead as of 2/9. I would think head to head would be the #1 priority, then SOS, then quality DIII wins?? Someone , like you DIII experts, would know more about that than me. I know there's a formula but I just don't know exactly what it is.Quote from: Brian Hamilton on February 12, 2025, 09:11:02 AMRoanoke is 37th in NPI and VWU is 38th currently. A lot of basketball left to play, but unless they improve their NPI, they will be hoping for few upsets in conference tourneys or have to win the ODAC tourney. Guilford isn't ranked in the Regional Rankings, so they have an even more difficult road to get in without winning the ODAC tourney.
Regional rankings are now just the NPI rankings sorted to only show one region so they are not particularly informational or useful. Guilford certainly has work to do but the good news is that the ODAC is a conference where you will definitely have opportunities to help yourself, starting with Guilford's game against Hampden-Sydney tonight.

I do know that there's a significant number of our Football alums( like our Mens basketball alums) that don't mind reaching into their respective wallets and helping pay for travel costs when the need arises. Im sure if they need help underwriting some travel costs, theyll find the $$.....they always do! If any of you RMC guys remember what the Football facilities were when we were there in the 80's vs what they are now you'll know how much things have changed in Athletics, especially in the Football program. Since Robert Lindgren took over as President of RMC there has been a HUGE influx of money into the athletic program without sacrificing our academic values. He( President Lindgren) is retiring this year, and one of the main focuses of the Board of Trustees, besides the Academics and other normal things you look for in a new President, is one who has the same type of focus on athletics that President Lindgren did. I know this because I know some members of that Board, and they have all told me the same thing! There's one thing you have to hand it to Pedro Arruza for- he's not afraid of ANYONE! He doesent schedule out of league PATSIES, thats FO SHO! He'll play ANYBODY< ANYTIME< ANYWHERE! You have to respect him for that, and we're extremely fortunate to have him!! He makes MEN!

February 05, 2025, 08:55:30 AMQuote from: Macon on February 04, 2025, 05:02:40 PMRMC fans, I just noticed a change in the RMC roster. Joe Joe Dubrul is no longer listed. He only played one game and has not been in uniform for weeks but on the sidelines, I'm assuming because of injury.Ill ask one of my frat bros.....It also could be an academic casualty. Coach Merkel and our administration makes that extremely priority. If you ever ask about or suggest a young athlete to one of our coaches in any sport, the first question is about their grades, and thats a GOOD THING! OUR KIDS GRADUATE INTO THE GAME OF LIFE!
Wishing him well.

If we play as inconsistently as we did against Bridgewater we are ripe to get beat by a good Roanoke team! I know it sounds crass to say that after winning by 27 but mostly that was done late in the 2nd half when it looked like Bridgewater quit and we just poured it on. It was a lot closer than the score indicated. We need to play consistent for 40 minutes in the next two games to win. Both away and both against good teams, either or BOTH of which can beat us! Consistency down the stretch will guide us to a 1 or #2 seed going into the tournament! GO JACKETS!

January 16, 2025, 03:05:09 PMQuote from: y_jack_lok on January 16, 2025, 10:01:08 AM^^^ I know VWU is always in the hunt and has become a rival just behind H-SC, but don't overlook the earlier game (Sat. 1/25) at Roanoke who are 6-1 in conference, 12-3 overall. Last night they were down by 10 with 32 seconds to go and won on a last second three pointer at Lynchburg. Whatever one's thoughts about how they got themselves in that position in the first place, you have to admire the "don't quit" mentality that got them the win.Im not overlooking ANYBODY !! I certainly didn't mean it if it sounded like that! I just had that date in my mind because its a closer game for me to go to in person than driving up to the COTU since I live in Hampton Roads! We can't afford to overlook or take ANYONE lightly because our margin for error is thin to begin with! We played about as well as we could have last night against the Captains and we were fortunate to win it! Its always a back and forth battle against those guys. Theyre well coached and always present problems for us! Roanoke is playing extremely well, also and so is Bridgewater- the ODAC is always a minefield and I really believe that prepares us for the postseason if we are fortunate enough to make it there because it makes us battle tested!
Also, let's not overlook the two games in between -- at Ferrum on Saturday and vs Bridgewater next Wednesday

Jackets have made HUGE strides since November! Now-That being said, that doesent mean that we wont have trouble with a team with big inside guys when we shoot poorly- WE ABSOLUTELY WILL! Heck, we'll have problems even when we shoot well but not as badly, but I think Josh has done a stellar job with these kids and working with what he has rather than griping about what he doesent! This sets up the VWU game in Va Beach on January 29 to be huge as long as neither of us stumbles beforehand! Jackets are on a ROLL!
