I guess that, based on Pat's rationale of not having any/many wins worthy of consideration, we should get used to not seeing Brockport getting much recognition as only NYU and Oswego seem to be in the worthy category in the East.  I know Magic will provide a more rational argument on this but it just seems strange to me, as I have been quietly lurking for a while, how the Yac is winning games out of conference and building up the strength of schedule and even showing great strides in Massey but still not cracking the rankings.  No disrespect meant with this question Pat as I would like an appraisal of how the SUNYAC can go about becoming more worthy on the national scene?  I admit I do not understand the politics of this and would like to know and, who knows, it might spark further discourse.

As an aside, Brockport was fun to watch and I think this team rivals other Port teams that have gone far in past tournaments!

Thanks for the visit Bengals... glad you were able to appreciate the musical selections... so happy some of the old stuff is coming back! Very happy to see the Bears give your team a game they could both learn and mature from.  I think Buff State is deeper than Oswego and, man for man, more talented....but you've been telling us that all year which is why I rarely post because you, magic, jdex and the bear have it covered!  Looking forward to meeting magic this weekend... as a PHS grad myself, we have probably run in some of the same circles from time to time, Gary Butler, Mike Flynn, Paul O'Connell, and the bear likes you so that's good enough for me!  BTW... question for magic... what do you like in your chocolate?  might have time to sneak down to the local shop before the game and get you a little gift box...

Thanks Magic... I usually get to deliver the bad news at the table... as Bengals found out last year... me being the "rather rotund fellow" and all.  Easy to find I guess.  My best also to the Bear... spoke to your wife a little while ago at the Crane auditions and am glad you are on the mend!

no worries magic... that's why I am junior varsity and you are All American!  Nice win for a young Cardinal team last night by the way...

Looks like Oswego lost to St.Lawrence... 66-62... according to Oswego web site... otherwise great night for the YAC!

Finally... Potsdam vs. Algonquin tonight @ 7:30pm... a timely exhibition game that the players are excited about the opportunity to play in real game conditions.  I'm sure The Bear will give a full report on the happenings upon completion of the game.  That said, let's get this season started and make it as unbearable as possible for those who dare enter the confines of Jerry Welsh gymnasium.  To borrow a quote from Andy Williams... "It's the most wonderful time of the year."

Nice to see two SUNYAC schools in the pre-season top 20!  Congrats to Oswego and Buff State...

I'll let the experts (JDEX and Magic) make the predictions.  I really like the way the Cards are playing right now.  Coach Curle has them playing role oriented basketball and with that talent, they should be able to run the table.  They are a fun team to watch and more explosive than any who have played in Jerry Welsh Gymnasium this season.  Of course the upside for Plattsburgh is that they will be even better next year.  I'm looking forward to seeing Brockport this weekend and only regret (small one considering it will be Senior Day for the Bears and this group deserves our support and encouragement) that I can't make it over to the burgh on Saturday to see what could decide the SUNYAC regular season championship... at least I know where I can get my updates!  Many thanks to you both for keeping Bear and I educated for another season.

Great shot stories aside, the fact that Morton had the whole nation talking about the YAC is a great thing for the conference.  What made it special for me was not the shot alone, but as other have already pointed out, the sequence of events that led to it actually occurring. Great game that showed both teams leaving it all on the floor... a testament to D 3 athletics!

Happy Holidays to all... the conference schedule can't get back under way soon enough!

Very well deserved!  Great player, outstanding team, great coach.  A nice year for Plattsburgh!  Sweet 16 for hoops a National Championship for the Women's Hockey Team and 2nd place for the Men's Hockey Team... I'd say the Cards represented the SUNYAC well in the winter post season!  Until next year...

To all attending the games... enjoy!  To the Cards... do the SUNYAC proud and take the next step to the Final 4!  Wish I could be there.

I've been wrong plenty!  I was just saying that I remember some of your posts as giving some good board fodder for our team... that is all... still entitled to your opinion...love your stuff, big fan... and so is Walzy by the way... entitled to his opinion that is...just making a statement.  :D

Go Cards!

Tried to go back to the old stuff but the information only goes back to right after U of R beat the Bears... remember some good Garbage plate discussions during that time as well...

Great Bulletin Board material Walzy... Not In The Bulb tried that with Potsdam a few years back before we knocked St. John Fisher off.  All four teams made it this far and are obviously doing a lot of things right.  I'll let them play the score out on the court.  Should be two great nights of hoops in the North Country! Have a nice drive up...

Go Cards!

A quick search on line will show that Plattsburgh has a dozen or so hotels within 10 miles of campus.  Also several nice eateries... might try Arnie's downtown for some local flair or stick with Applebees or 99 steak house or Ground Round if you like chain food.

Having been to Amherst for the Elite 8 trip Potsdam took us on a few years back I can honestly say that I believe Memorial is a much better site.  Even though Memorial has  some issues with deferred maintenance it seats more (don't give me capacity numbers as I have been to both), has better parking (can you say off campus a 1/2 mile down the road @ Amherst vs. right across the street within 40 to 100 yards), has concessions (Amherst had none) and is a far better atmosphere to watch a game (the place will be packed and a lot of fun for players and fans).  I still remember the Amherst v UofR game that year... the place was far better, atmosphere wise, during the Potsdam v Fisher game!

Memorial needs an upgrade... that much most agree on... however, it still does the job and the Cardinals know how to treat people during tournament time... just check out the numerous times they have hosted in hockey for both men and women.  Amherst, well, they seem to get by on reputation alone... oh yeah, that and a heck of a good team.  Just my two cents...
