KSC Fan,

I know you didn't mean any bad words concerning RIC's right fielder, and Coach Zilly's comments concerning him was right on. One of the most talented kids I have seen and coached.  I am a little dissapointed that RIC is out because they were a fine, fun team to root for. Being an Eastern fan in RI, I loved the additions Coach V made this year to his squad and told him so back in January when they were still hitting inside at the Rec Center. All those kids who try to go the D1 route and don't find happiness or a place to play, can look to programs like RIC and Eastern and more importantly the LEC. Nice job Anchorman and go Warriors .

Great coverage of the NE regional. Top shelf Hobbesey on the impromptu updates throughout the morning yesterday while I was in meetings. We are lucky to have a conference who wants to showcase D3 baseball - Keep it up.

I am not sue any other regional is going to have the coverage that the NE Regional is going to have. I have had the pleasure of going to three previous regionals - 2007 in Harwich on Cape Cod, 2008 the Auburn regional, and last year in Mansfield. For those of you who can make it on Wednesday and Thursday, there is so much action, excitement, and the NCAA does a great job. However, if you can't make it - the Little East Conference puts on quite a show and with Hobbesy as a "sideline reporter" no other regional can compare.

Hobbesey.... great coverage - but I wouldn't expect anything else from you. Must have been tough interviewing Coach H. knowing him better than anyone.

Word..
I think the SUNY Cortland Regional participants will be excited to see the brand of Owls baseball coming to town. I don't have to convince you. But let me tell all the fans going to this regional, you will walk away at the end saying, that "I am glad I don't have to face them twice a year".

Fresh teams may be just what the baseball doctor ordered. Doyon, DiPrato, Patnode and Cipolla probably waiting to get to see new arms. The pitching really came into its own the last 15 games of the season and with a bump in the road to UMass Boston dropped them into the loser's bracket of the LEC. I think that was the key game of the tourney.

Good luck to all of the 55 teams in the Tourney. It will be fun to see what comes out of this region - Beware of the Hooters. They can swoop it and out and take a ticket to Appleton if you are not careful.

Hey, Bobby, congrats. Even though you haven't been there before, you could at least *act* like you have.

For a guy who had to re-register, what, five times this spring before you could master the process, you sure have a lot to say.

Great point Pat. I know that there were a few parents and fans at the LEC Tourney I actually heard them saying the  same thing. "act" like you have been there, even if you haven't.

Jcon...
Yes you've won your title. As far as the injured players in sweats - I hope they will be able to help on the field at the regionals because their enthusiasm can carry over on the field. One of those injured players kept on ranting - "this is too easy".  He better be careful not to get additional injuries tripping over the players on the field.
Be careful. By the way, had the chance to sit behind home plate during the umb-keene game and got a chance to see first hand McCormack be the catalyst for your team. Here's going to be a force the next couple of years.

If I wasn't an Eastern Fan I would certainly agree with you about a team being able to play in a regional on their home field. However, that being said, this is still D3 baseball and the committee is really going to have a tough time sending Eastern out to another regional when they wouldn't have to house them if they kept them in Mansfield. That's if they make it. New blood? Another 30 win season. The NE Regional with 8 teams could be
1.Tufts
2. Wheaton
3. WNEC
4.St. Joseph's
5.Eastern Conn
6.UMass Boston
7.Worcester State
8.Castleton or Westfield

With the LEC running the regional, they probably would like it if they had two teams at Mansfield. Remember WNEC last year got shipped out to NY. I could see Westfield or Castelton being shipped out..

Two tough losses by Eastern bouncing them from the LEC is tough to swallow - however, USM deserves a lot of credit battling through the tourney after their opening loss on Thursday morning, winning Thursday evening, bouncing Keene, then Eastern only to fall short to a rested UMB. Disani at short is a real good player. His diving stop against Eastern with the bases loaded saved a run during their rally. I think that if Henry and Schmidt were healthy, their season would have been a lot different. Nick Hahn did a real nice job this season as well.

OK UMB - you are the 2010 LEC champs. Congrats. But a word to the wise and to the two "player/ cheerleaders" in grey sweats and wooden bats waving on every hit and Beacon play...... it ain't going to "this easy in the regionals"

ECSUalum - missed you at the tourney but maybe if the Warriors get an at large bid we'll see you next week. If not it was a pleasure having spent some quality time with you and your family at the stadium and on the spring trips.

Eastern will probably throw Musson in game 1 because he pitched last on last Thursday and Fontaine pitched on Sunday. I wouldn't be surprised if Schmidt goes in game one for USM.

Good Luck to all the teams in the LEC -
I am hoping that Eastern takes care of business in game one vs USM because it is a long day for the loser of the first (10:00 am) game.

Is the ECAC the same as the N.I.T. basketball tournament? (Not In Tournament) or is it a "B.W.L.O.C.T" ( because we lost our tournament ) tournament?

Hobbesy,
I agree that Eastern should have an edge, but I am biased. Westfield lost four times to Worcester. Enough said. Eastern did lose to Plymouth St., West Conn, Roger Williams but did have wins over Tufts, Trinity, and Wesleyan late in the season. I like the strength of schedule setup. There is no arguing of how wins are interpreted.

Layoffs... I like how the LEC is this week. Momentum is a good thing. Sunday's must wins to host for Eastern surely came at a good time for the slumping Warrior hitters. Those two wins could carry the team past the first day.

ECSUalum and TEEfan where are you guys?

Hobbesy,
The new formatf or the LEC tourney is set up for a depth in pitching. If that's the case Eastern pitching Musson on last Thursday v. Wheaton wasn't such a bad idea, along with giving Schult a bull pen on Sunday left them with two top guys to throw on Thursday if they need to play 2 games that 1st day.
It is a little quirky setup with the host team being in a position where if they lose game one and have to play that fourth game of the day at night that they could get bounced in the opening day. But if they win game one - their pitching is lined up to pitch their 2 &3 on Friday.

I hope your right about  at an at-large bid if either ECSU or KSC don't make it to the finals.

Congrats to my hometown Lancers for upending Westfield yesterday. One factor may be former Eastern pitching coach Ron Isler helping their pitchers and their turn around.

If either Eastern and Keene St wins the tourney but the other isn't the runner-up, do you really think the LEC deserves an at large bid?

KSCfan,
Yes, Musson has been actually throwing during the week the last three weeks against the likes of Tufts, Trinity and Wheaton. On his normal rest he will pitch game one of the LEC and if needed can throw a bullpen on Sunday. Depending who they throw in game one on Sunday(Schult or Fontaine), if they win they have they other for game two plus Church available. If they lose game one, then they can utilize Church and keep whoever doesn't start in game 1 rested for game 2 of the LEC. But it just a matter of time before the bats wake up to give these guys some run support.

Good new for the Warriors Coach Holowaty has been released from the hospital and actually stopped by practice earlier today.
