Word on the street according to the Marshall Independent is that DeRock is leaving Hamline and transfering to SMSU. He will redshirt and then start playing after that.

Kind of ironic that Wohler got Weiner from SMSU when he got the job and now DeRock is leaving to go there. Personally I think that Stemen gets the better end of the deal.

FWIW, Bill Simmons wrote an article about the OJ trial on the ten year anniversary. Kind of an interesting read and an interesting perspective. Take a look if you are interested.

I agree with watchmen. They will bring back 4 senior starters who will all have a legitimate shot to be the MVP. As for Ohme at PG, I am just not a fan of his game at the PG position. I will discount his talent one bit because he is extrememly talented. I just see him as more of a combo guard who is probably most suited to play the 2. He can certainly play the 1, but I see him as more of a 2. Someone who is playing off the ball and getting good looks that way.

I'm not going to bother justifying my opinion with those who have a dissenting opinion. It is obvious that there are those who hold Jim Smith in a very high regard. I am just not one of those people. I think he is a great guy and haven't heard a negative thing about him, but I just don't think he is all that great of a coach.

I have felt this way for the past three years and quite simply Jim Smith is not a good coach. I have yet to watch an SJU game and say to myself, "they are a well coached team." Conversely, within the first 10 minutes of watching my first GAC game I knew that Hanson is a heck of a coach. Getting a technical foul for not getting your team onto the floor for the second half is absolutely unexcusable. Just ridiculous.

Why in the world would a person move Ohme back to PG when it is clearly obvious that he is not a PG. He has poor court vision, a low basketball IQ, and is turnover prone. Not exactly the makings of a great PG.

Tonight Smith busted out the old line change substituion. 5 men in and 5 men out. Are you kidding me? Is this a 10 man 8th grade AAU team where everyone has to play the same amount of time because they all payed to play on the team? I haven't seen that since jr high. Not to mention that this line change left the team without a starter or a scorer on the floor.

A good win for the Johnnies tonight, but there are going to be nights when Smith needs to outcoach the guy on the opposite end and not expect his players to out talent everyone else.

BOLD and RCW are both terrible. A far cry from the good old days of the 212.

Interesting move by Brann. Seems kind of like a lateral move to me. Any speculation as to why he would be making such a move?

SJU played out their minds and Henrichs was a beast. SJU played it's best game of the year and SCSU wasn't exactly clicking on all cylinders. All in all a nice win for the Johnnies that doesn't count for much more than pride and bragging rights.

Just want to throw this out there, but has anyone else noticed what has happened to PLU since Frosty retired? Is there any potential that this could happen to SJU after John retires?

Not to get too worked up about it but the fact of the matter is that the Johnnies lost because they settled for too many jumpers, didn't really establish much post presence, and didn't hit the plays they needed to down the stretch. Westman may or may not have been the difference, but as they say, hindsight is 20-20.

Going to have to disagree because C. Shafer had another consistent 12 point game, but Henrichs didn't play as well as he is capable of.

Westman has a stress fracture and will be out 3-4 weeks according to the SC Times.

Johnnies looked good tonight even with the loss. Linz ate them up in the second half inside and they settled for too many jumpers. I would be very surprised if they didn't make the playoffs. They should legitimatly be in every game this year with the significant upgrade in talent from last year. Lieser is the real deal. A nice, smooth point guard who plays in rhythm. He can't play 38 minutes every night though and expect to hold up all year. Although I can't really blame Smith for wanting to play him that many minutes. On a side note, being that he is a DI transfer can we expect him to "dominate" the same way everyone expects Ike to dominate since he is a DI transfer as well. Is NDSU to SJU the same as Bowling Green to UST or am I way off base. Just wanted to throw that out there.
