I have attended many SUNYAC games this year and it is no surprise that Cortland is once again favored to win the torunament. Their line up top to bottom is impressive and pitching around any one of them is no option as they all have the ability to hit one out of the park (23 HR as a team). Once on the base paths do not look for Cortland to slow down as they steal their way to a win with great team speed (Especially K. Dimino).
That being said, I am also impressed with the pitching staff that Brockport has put together towards the end of the season. Shannon, Mascari and Maxwell are all quality pitchers who have been in pressure games before. Freshman Steve Locke and Kris Getzke have stepped up as well combining for a record of 7-1. All have been shown to go deep into games, as is needed as the bullpen has struggled. Seniors Matt Beach and Dan Ferraro have been the main go to guys and both have had quality outings, along with some poor performances.
I plan to be in Cortland to watch the entire tournament and I look forward to seeing some very quality baseball. It would be great to see someone other than Cortland win the tournament and represent the conference in regionals as Cortland has proven they belong there with or without a tournament win.
