I watched the IC-GC game yesterday but trying to watch the live feed tonight was just unbearable. Constant freezing made it absolutely unbearable to watch. I hear they lost and did not shoot well at all. Their defense was tough holding St. Norberts in the 80s, but Grinnell only scoring 62? Wow. Their defense has carried them all season but if you can't make shots, you are not going to win against a disciplined St. Norbert. Great season to finish out on season. Congrats.

I have never seen the board so quiet before a conference tournament people. Whats going on? Ever since Lawrence stopped winning conference tournaments on a consistent basis, we lost half of the board. What gives...?

Coach of the Year should absolutely go to Coach Arsenault - complete turnaround of the season, lots of freshmen turned into solid producers, and a brilliant rework of the GC defense that shut down the top 3 teams in the conference. Show me another coach that's done more this season.

The real question is should the Coach of the Year go to Little A, and not big Dave...

Grinnell holds yet another team under 80 points.  The coffee may flow at the Saint's Rest... but there have been some pretty confused teams offensively against Grinnell in the past few weeks.

Taking a 3-6 team on this kind of run down the stretch, coming back from 25 down against Lawrence FTW, winning at Monmouth despite shooting under 20% (7-41) from the three point line, COY to new Midwest Conference Defensive Guru Coach A!

I do not know how serious you are about the Coach of the Year thing, but, I just can't see it happening. Not again so soon. He won two years ago when they won the conference at co-champions along with LU.  It is voted on by the coaches, and I can't imagine they will give it to him so soon. I could see Coach Vraney or Coach Worrell getting it however.

I personally don't feel like doing the research myself, is there anyway anyone besides St. Norbert could host this tournament. Another tournament in De Pere, just doesn't excite me. I am not a fan of that gym. Too gloomy...

Something is happening here. Coach Arseneault is tweaking the system once again. He did it in the early 2000s with those offensive juggernaut teams that could just outscore anybody most nights. And he's doing it again with this group. He's changed the defensive strategy and alignment. Those changes were most apparent in these two most recent games. No need for details as the rest of the schedule needs to find out on their own. It's just different enough that it will have an opponent off balance if they have prepared for the system they saw last year, or even last semester. Frankly, this is a brilliant coaching job, again, by Coach A. He has the team believing in the changes and by now the rest of the conference, too.

Just wondering exactly how and what you have seen that has shows Coach Arseneault has changed his strategy?

Chamberlain might feel a little slighted.

While was one of the only post presences that the school ever had, would you consider him a go to guy. Perhaps you are right!

Jeffdc, I had picked Grinnell over IC over on the MWC Pick 'em board. I had to admit it was a pick with the heart. IC has been playing well and the outcome doesn't surprise me. Despite flashes of brilliance our Pioneers haven't been consistent enough. I'm looking forward to the team putting it all together this weekend. We are still looking for the "go to" guy, aren't we? The one who will always deliver in the clutch. The one who can carry the team through stretches of bad play. You know what I mean: 6 or 8 names over the last 15 years come to mind.

Grotberg
Arseneault
Long
Diekmann
Wood
Clement
Brands

Am i missing anyone?

Took me a few hours to comprehend what I just saw at Darby Gym tonight with a 150-90 win. I realize the team they played wasn't all that good but to shoot as well as they did is still impressive. Against any team, 29 three pointers is amazing. Levin, Lentsch, Strek and Kaitz were incredible tonight. Lentsch gets about two feet off the ground on his jumper and will be force in the MWC for the next three years.

Final score in Ripon: RC 125- Grinnell 113. Tomshek, Gillespie and Wurtz play great.
