At first I was pretty upset.  I certainly think UWW got the short end of the stick.  The fact of the matter still remains.  WE ARE THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAM IN DIVISION III.  I'm still planning a vacation to Salem in December to watch my 'Hawks play.

Warhawk fans, don't worry.  I can assure you the players and coaches are not worried.

We returned home safely about an hour ago.  What a trip.  My brother, Warhawk96 and I drove 13 hours from Racine to Salem Thursday evening.  The weather made life difficult because the city of Salem has no idea how to handle snow removal.  The stadium lot was only partially plowed.  Almost all of the restaurants on Main Street were closed by the time we left Salem Stadium.  Many of the places we tried to stop and eat at on Sunday were serving limited menues because they were out of supplies or employees.  I've never been more proud to be from Wisconsin.  If nothing else, I know how to drive a car in a snow storm and I know how to shovel out a parking space.  Sweet Virginia!

Congratulations, 'Hawks!

NATIONAL CHAMPIONS, AGAIN.[/color]

I'm leaving for Salem after work Thursday.  Spending Friday night in the Salem Holiday Inn.  I'll be accompanied by my brother, Warhawk96 and a young man we refer to as "Coacher."  Its going to be a great time.

Go 'Hawks.  Beat Mount Union.

I sat down this afternoon and started reading some of the posts made since the game ended last night.  I'm really suprised and disappointed in some of the comments our Warhawk "Faithful."  Are we really going to hop on the internet and rip our team for WINNING a NATIONAL SEMI-FINAL????  Are you kidding me!?!?

News flash:  WE ARE NOT GOING TO WIN EVERY GAME BY 40.

Its Linfield College.  Are we not familiar with "The Game?"  This is not some rinky dink organization.  They have a recent National Championship and several deep play off runs.  They run a spread offense.  You are going to give up passing yards.  Its understood as a defensive player.  When you play teams that throw the ball effectively, you  will give up yards, but you must stop the big plays and minimize the damage on the score board.  When I played for Brian Borland, our defense's goal was to hold teams to 17 or less.  How many points did we give up?  Oh yeah, SEVENTEEN.  We didnt give up 45 points.  We gave up 17.

Lets figure it out, Whitewater fans.  We're talking about college kids here.  You cannot get on the internet and rip non-scholarship athletes for anything, let alone winning.

See you in Virginia.  Go 'Hawks.

Its going to be a great one.

Go 'Hawks.  Beat Linfield, AGAIN!!!

I haven't posted since the end of July.  Just wanted to express my excitement for this weekend's match-up.  I feel confident that we will have another excellent ball game, just as we did in 2005.  I hope all of the fans from Linfield have a great time in our state.  We always have a blast in the parking lot (before the game, during half time and after the game) :).  I hope that my teammates from the '05 team will be in full force Saturday.

I think we will see an excellent ball game and I look forward to seeing you all as we PACK THE PERK!

Go 'HawksBeat Linfield.

kirasdad:  With the defense and O-line that Mount has coming back, I could play QB this fall and MUC would still this the regular season 10-0.

Can you still throw the pigskin a quarter mile?

How much you wanna bet I can throw a football over those mountains?!?!

My brother and I are reporting live from the Holiday Inn Express in Winchester, KY.  Its 45 degrees and rainy this morning.  It took us 8 hours to get here from Racine.  We anticipate another 5.5 hours on the road.  We are very excited about the 'Hawks chances this Saturday.  Also, we are thankful we left when we did because our home town is currently burried by 11 inches of snow!

OLINEMOM, we brought you a gift.  Look for the Dodge Ram Truck that is black with silver stripes.  You will see two large males drinking beer.   :)  Thank you so much for your support over the last couple years and for the delicious cookies and brownies.

GO WARHAWKS!!

That's because Flash imagines her NAKED as he listens.   :P

That's how Flash rolls........

Soooo........what is one of "the best" microbrews in WI at this time, and can we get some down at the tailgate?

I will be happy to exchange a Lake Erie (actually Great Lakes but I wanted to make sure you knew from which lake the water originated  ;D) Christmas Ale for a taste.....

They actually sell Great Lakes beers in Racine, WI.  Elliot Ness and Fitzgerald (I think  ???)  Isn't it brewed in Cleveland?

My question is who on Mount Unions team are we going to love to hate since Garcon is gone?
I still think he had a reason to be cocky as he did school the poor hawk DB's against us in 05 and 06, and then we returned the favor to him last year.
I am sure Mount has some new transfer WR from Florida on their roster who is almost as good as Garcon who we will grow to hate very quickly. They always do.

How many transfers are on the UWW roster?  I seem to remember there is a LB/RB that came from Illinois State.  I am so tired of MTU being accused of having transfer players, when actuality there are very few that come from higher divisions and contribute for the Raiders.  Garcon did play HS ball in FL, but he transferred from another DIII school.

As far as having another WR as a major contributor this year, we don't.  Leading Receivers from MTU:
Cecil Shorts III - Cleveland, OH
Vince Petruziello - Mentor, OH
Chad Reynolds - Wayne, OH
A.J. Claycomb - Medina, OH

Good luck and I hope to see another great game this year, just with a little different outcome.  ;)

Whats so bad about having transfer players?  We are talking about players making the life changing decision of which educational institution to attend at 17 or 18 years old.  If they make a poor choice, realize it and want to change it, I don't see any problem with that.

Lets be honest.  Ohio is a hot bed for talent.  If that state can support a half dozen scholarship football teams (including my favorite - Ohio State), its really no suprise to me that the OAC is as good as it is.  We used to called MUC the OSU Junior Varsity.  I'm glad that UWW has in some sense become the UW Junior Varsity.

I expect the Stagg Bowl to be a great game!  All season I've listened to people close to me (dad!) say," the 'Hawks can't possibly repeat.  They are not nearly the same team this year."  They may not be the same "team" but they are still going to get it done.  WE DON'T REBUILD.  WE RELOAD.  FINISH THE MISSION.  GO WARHAWKS!

So, is the game seriously at 10 (11 ET)? The exact same time as comencement at UWW. If so, didn't they change the time last year? And, what are the chances of that happening again?

The chance is zero percent.  This year the Stagg Bowl is competing with 4 division 1 bowl games for TV time.

Go Purple Raiders!

Last year the Stagg Bowl was played closer to dinner time.  I walked in last fall's comencement at UWW.  I had hopes of going to VA for the game, but after the best 5.5 years of my young life, I pretty much I owed it to my family to walk.  In any event, we had time to go out for lunch and then watch the 'Hawks bring home a Nat'l Title.  What a great day.  This year I'll be in VA for the ball game.  I hope experiencing it live will be better than my first two visits to the Commonwealth.  Go 'Hawks!

I'LL SEE YOU IN SALEM!!!!  :)

Ditto on the All-Whites, Bobo.  Definately a good look.  I also liked the home Black Jerseys with Purple pants, but when I was playing we did not have enough purple pants to suit everyone so we wore them on the road or at home in the play-offs.  The black pants came in after I graduated.  UWW has to have some of the nicest uniforms in all of D3 Football.

Looking at some of the Defensive statistics for both teams, I would not be one bit suprised if this game looked like the 2006 edition played in Belton.  For those of you with short memories, UWW's Neil Mrkvica returned the opening kick-off for the Warhawk's only score.  The Cru's Line Backers could flat out fly.  I was very impressed with that LB core.  MHB was able to hit a field goal when given good field position by a UWW turnover.  There were a couple of near scores when UWW missed a field goal and an opportunity to sack the MHB QB in the endzone (that kid was tought to tackle, much respect).  MHB missed out on a few scoring chances with a very tall WR going against a very short CB (sorry, Gabe).  However, Gabe Schultz played a monster game against a very talented WR with a great size advantage.  The final was 7-3.  In any event, I expect a very low scoring game with a fair amount of rushing yards by both teams, but minimal passing yards (again, by both teams).

GO 'HAWKS!

I would like to go to Salem next weekend.

Well were at a similar spot. UMHB vs. UW-Whitewater. The Cru is an excellent football team as well as the Warhawks. I expect UMHB to come out on top, I think theyre just better, plain and simple. I witnessed it firsthand when they crushed a poorly played Wesley College. So I bring a message to the Warhawks: IT WONT BE AS EASY AS LAST YEAR!!!

Relax there, waterboy, this weeks stats are barely dried on the page and you already want to mix it up with UWW fans. Unfortunately for you, it ain't going to happen.  Warhawk fans and Cru fans have a healthy respect for each other.  If you are a real fan of UMHB, I would think you would  know that!!   ::)

Word of advice, using Wesley to strengthen your case will only being on uncontrolled laughter on the part of Warhawk fans...we know Wesley from first hand experience and have never been impressed with the Wolverines on the football field.   ;)

KABOOM

FYI, In 2005, the Warhawk Defense outscored the Wesley Offense.

Bobo is right.  I certainly have a lot of respect for MHB, but as always I am optimistic and confident about the 'Hawks chances in Belton (a very tough place to play).
