Just wanted to say good luck to Jason Boltus, who is currently at the NFL combine right now.

Its a great honor to have a kid from Hartwick, and the Empire 8 for that matter, represent D-3 on national television. I know it will probably be replayed 1000 times between now and the draft, but the quarterbacks are scheduled to be put on the NFL network on Sunday at 11, 4, and 8. Also, I hear that Boltus will be participating in some drills that are primarially focused on recievers and cornerbacks, so keep an eye out for the guy throwing the passes.

Just want to say congrats to Jason Boltus. What an accomplishment it is to be selected for the national combine out of a small D-III school.

I don't know if this topic was already covered, but how many D-III athletes have ever been invited to the combine? I'm pretty sure Garcon was there last year, and I think Brett Elliott a few years back. But i'm stuck after that...

I just want to officially point out that, even though I have no idea why Hartwick would still be ranked, I have no problem with this new poll. It is clearly a friend of Wicks, and by default, a friend of mine. They must be using the same BCS computer that ranks my Fighting Irish in the top ten every time they have more then 6 wins. Either way, myself and all the other Wick fans can not complain.

Now whose ready for the Hart-ica Jug!!!!!!

Oh great...we suck again!

As an ex-linemen, it is almost heresy to admit that anything about the soccer is good. I will admit however that it is a great way for us fat people to get back into shape.

kon artist-
you really need to do homework before you come on here and spout.
hmmm coudnt hack it--- no i could have made the team but not played- wasnt recruited by d1 schools.
didnt bother me.
that was just the beginning of the dislike for wick.
like you said- i have 20 years of other reasons to dislike wick.
and as for not playing football-im a fan--like many others on here that never played--always loved the sport and suppported the team....
i can see your mentality by mocking with feild hockey(must be a girl) reference- and the soccer(must not be a real sport) slams. very mature.
glad to see the education is expanding our intellect.

Wow. 2 angry posts before I get a chance to respond. Did I hit a spoft spot or something?

Listen, if you can't take harmless joke about something so insignificant, maybe you shouldn't be consistantly bad mouthing Hartick so much.

I mean, if you really want to look at the facts, since 2000, Wick still holds the advantage in wins, 5-4, not to mention has won the past 2 years.

you got burned.
face it
you spoke too soon and needed to take a shot.
yea i played soccer at fisher.
how many guys on here never laced up a single shoe cleat or skate flappin their gums.
yes you indeed are a tool.

Sorry. Just assumed people would reference football on a football discussion board. I think it's great that you didn't play football at any level but are still a fan. We need more fans like you, especially on the D-3 level.

It's just there's no need to have a complex because 20 years ago you weren't able to hack it at the Wick.

isnt it funny that i have disliked wick since 1987.
when after choosing fisher over wick - i got not one but two nasty phone calls saying that i was making a mistake----and so began fa91's road to disliking hartwick college

We're you playing field hockey? Cause Wick didn't have a football team untill 1992.

I would love to see a Wick/RPI game, it could be a barn burner...

That brings back some memories. I was at the last game they played in 2003. RPI had their final four team, which was the best team i've ever seen. They we're one of the fist teams in NY to switch to a true spead. I think Wick set the NCAA record for turnovers in a game (it was like 13 or 14, something crazy). All I remember is the enire second half RPI ran twins so they wouldn't run up the score.

But it's too bad they don't play anymore. RPI and Union have played some classic games against Wick. Great crowds and high scores at most of them. It would be fun to see them play again this year, as long as its not an ECAC game.

Haven't been on in a while.....but congrats to Wick today. The hardest part the their schedule is over. The pressure is on IC and SJF to win out now. Anything can happen. This is fun to watch.

Anyone else going to the 'Wick-IC game this weekend?

I wish I could make it. It should be an awesome game again.... I home Wick doesn't keep it close enough this year where they need a fake-punt to win the game.

Very true. Either way, it should be fun to watch with all that scoring going on!

hey--who knows- i could be eating crow at the end of the season, but a team that suprised IC and Fisher at home barely beats UC and loses to two NEFC teams will have to come a long way to win the E8 this year..I am not spouting about Fisher--they have a lot of holes to fill and numerous question marks, but basing this years outcome on last years success is foolish.

Very true. Teams change from year to year. But past history doesn't win games. Whether a team has 30 straight winning seasons, 5 extremely good ones, or has lost just about every game in the last 5 years, it doesn't have any effect on this year's season.
I'll only bring up the impact of last year giving a potentially accurate outlook on the next season in Wick's case is because they return 9 of 11 starters on a great O.

As for last years losses, only because everyone keeps bringing it up, the WNEC loss was a complete embarrassment. Wick got outplayed in every fashion of the game. Flat out butt kicking by a marginal-at-best NEFC team. No way of explaining, and anything that could be said would sound like a poor excuse. But the other two losses weren't as bad as you all make it seem. Alfred was a playoff team if they won their last game of the season and ended up blowing out their bowl game opponent. And Curry finished the season ranked in the top 25.
Now NEFC or not, you still have to have some talent to finish up there, or maybe the people who vote on this stuff miscast ballots or something (I don't know the process, so I don't want to make any assumptions). And I believe they almost made the pre-season top 25 this year. That's not bad for a team that everybody rags on. Are they at the Fisher-level of play? Clearly not, but still not a bad team. Did they beat Wick pretty bad last year? You bet. Wick clearly wasn't playing its best football at the end of season (notably the D, hence 46 points at the end of regulation against Utica, 30 something to Becker, and 40 something to Curry). But it also doesn't erase two great wins prior against two top 25 ranked playoff teams.
