Congrats on the streak Linfield.
I watched the game today and Linfield almost had to wait until next week to celebrate. UPS played a tough game. Linfield's DBs played better that last week but the D Ends were very aggressive and through good play calling, UPS played them like a fiddle for a good portion of the game.
Willamette better not take UPS for granted next week!

[quI can pretty much guarantee that the Bearcats would play at McCulloch any day...

I was at the game on Saturday, and here are my thoughts:
1) Willamette's Offensive Line DOMINATED the game. Linfield's d-ends are great athletes, and great players. However, the combo of Jake Forshey and Joe Penkala at tackle effectively shut them down. I'm not too sure about this stat, but I heard something to the effect of each of the D-Ends getting 1 tackle each? Being able to minimize the D-ends had a huge impact on the game. The rest of the line also did a great job. The interior 3 played solid all game: few if any missed assignment. Very physical play by the front 5.
2) SPECIAL TEAMS! 'Nuff said. (Actually I lied, that's not enough said. I should point out that when Linfield was able to get a punt off, it was usually a fantastic kick. Kick offs were also the deepest that Willamette has had to field all year.)
3) Willamette's corner's and outside linebackers did a great job for the most part. VERY physical play.
4) Linfield's QB (you might have heard of him) was a monster. Like someone said- if the receivers were locked up, he let his legs do the work. When the Bearcats spied him, he would find the open receiver down field.
5) Coaching. Mark Speckman for President. Glen Fowles (O.C.) for Secretary of VP. Nate Naggi (D.C.) for Secretary of Defense (what else?)
6) Linfield's LBs were impressive.

All in all, a great game. The momentum that Linfield had at the half carried them most of the way through the third quarter. Had they been able to keep it... whew, it would have been close.

As far as the student section... really people? It's a few drunk college kids. Regardless of whether or not their mother's would have approved of what they said, it's a reality of college sports.

FWGIS- Great insight- your parents should be proud

Wow, this is getting crazy. To quote my wife "remember how adults are supposed to act".
These are all great programs that everyone is posting about and everybody should calm down.
Linfield folks should be proud of past success and anticipate future development.
Every team has jerks on the sidelines. Last year we attended the Linfield Lewis and Clark blowout and I heard a constant on slot of vile (and accurate) heckling from the Linfield student section.
The Willamette kids at the end zone were taunted by an "adult" Linfield fan.
Relax ADULTS.
Bearcatpress- you are a stud

Forgive me for my spelling; long day, long drive, I had made a significant adult beverage for myself before sitting down to the computer, and I went to CWU.

QuoteAnd while I was not at the game I expect to be covered by the Americans With Disabilities Act after the next election and I can sue you for your mean spiritness.
DO.C.
If the next election goes poorly you will be able to use the Americans with Disabilities Act   to sue me for my mean spirit ness, but then Lewis and Clark will be able to sue their opponents for bad intentions and violation of the Equal Opportunity Act.

I was sitting with a bunch of Linfield and Willamette parents and fans and the atmosphere was collegial and fun. Everybody was talking and having a great time watching the momentum of the game swing back and forth. Yesterday's game represented the two programs well. Great parents, fans, players and institutions. "Baldy" brought it on himself.

Here we go, another Johnny come-lately poster. I know the Linfield guys' own this board, but as a father of a freshman player for Willamette, I would like to make a comment or two and ask a couple of questions.
First: the score of the game is very deceiving. The game could have been won by Linfield if the breaks in the second or third quarter had gone differently. However, Lindfield's secondary never looked back to see where the hell the ball was. That is a coaching issue.
Second: Willamette's tackles did a great job on the Linfield D-ends. The pocket would close on the back side and Willamette's QB would step up out of trouble. Linfield's strength was nullified by great O-Line play by Willamette.
Question: Are one of you Lindfield posters "Baldy"? If so, why would you antagonize a bunch of smart ass students?

Wildcat & DOC
I hope you are correct that football can make a comeback at Lewis & Clark because the NWC needs viable teams. I have my concerns about L&C football because the culture at the school is so extreme that most athletes may be put off. L&C is a clothing optional school and has gender neutral bathrooms. Wow. The coaches are great, the academics are exceptional but your carbon footprint is what determines a student's acceptance on campus.

Hello all. I am new to DIII web site and I am enjoying reading this Linfield board.
I have some questions that all you old heads might know about the NW conference and Lewis and Clark. My son was recruited by L&C last year and they had some coaches that were really nice and seemed to be knowledgeable. However, the school is (not the football program) pretty hostel to anybody that is not a vegan so my son is playing elsewhere. What happened to all the assistant coaches?
