I dusted off the "fan base" listing from last year.  It needs some up-dating I think.  I'll give it a few weeks to see who has disappeared from our midst ... and who needs to be added ... like Phred or Idaho Soccer.  With a couple of exceptions, everyone on the list is a quality person ... right?

IIAC FAN BASE

Still hangin around, just been busy with work. It's funny how the priorities change once the kids are grown and almost out of the nest.

It's easy to jump on the "talent is down" bandwagon when the usual suspects aren't at the top of the conference.
I'll be curious to see how the IIAC rep does during playoff time to judge if the conference talent level is down.
One thing's for sure---HUGE Homecoming matchup for the Knights AND Duhawks in Waverly this weekend. Always been some pretty close matchups there anyway, but a lot riding on this one should make it even more interesting.

Agree...I do not think that the talent level is down, it might just be spread out a little more.  I know BV has had some really good kids coming in this year and last year.  I have heard the same for other conference school, outside of the big two.

BTW:  Has anyone seen that Carleton is at the top of th MIAC?  Undefeated and looking like the team to beat.  All things considered this might not have been the worst loss of the season for Cornell :D

Cornell was up 14-13 midway through the 3rd quarter and for all the running up an down the field by Carleton, the Rams were squarely in that game.

The Carleton game took a turn when Carleton took the ensuing kickoff answered the Cornell score with an 18 play, 75 yard drive.  Cornell followed by driving to the Carleton 34 yard line and fumbling.  Carleton scored 1 play later.  Then Cornell drove to the Carleton 3 only to turn over on downs...Carleton scored in 5 plays.  Cornell fumbled the kickoff, Carleton recovered and within a few plays scored again for the final.

It was a microcosm of Cornell's season to date.  Turnovers on offense, being vulnerable to the run up the middle and giving up big pass plays on defense and not being able to cash in when opportunity presents itself.

If Cornell could have found a way in this game, I think the collective psyche of this team would be far different.  Grinnell was about not being ready to play.  This game cut deep.

Maybe if they had a veteran coaching staff to help them?

The kids will continue to make mistakes on offense and the D will still give up on average, 34 a game, but, I think that this week is the week that they break through and earn that first win of the season.

Maybe it's because the last conference victory was against DBQ or it is time that the Karma gods smiled on us and said......what the heck, since both Wartburg and Central are not fighting it out for the top spot, BV is in first place, and Coe is losing, why not a win for Cornell?

I have audio/video evidence that Loras got the snap off in time.

Excellent, I look forward to putting all the questions to rest.

When will you be posting your audio/video evidence of Loras getting the ball snapped in time, while everyone was set?
If this video is the evidence, then it is definately not going to prove anything. Both the video and audio posted are poor at best, and without the scoreboard in the shot, there is no way to verify that the snap was made in time.

I guess I am not sure if it comes down to a simple matter of playing harder.

The Rams mental outlook is critical at this point.  In the past 2 years, they have at least had non-conference success.  With that blown out the window, given the past several years, this team is staring the prospect of a 0-fer season...with what we all thought could be an improved team.  But all of that does not matter.  They need to stay focused on the game in front of them from here on out.  Their biggest opponent is their own self-doubt.

But it comes down to a matter of perserverance.  With Wartburg upcoming and the obvious difficulties awaiting, the Rams have to fight the battle of themselves and their own personal committment.  They need to break it down to 1 guy, 1 job.  You do your job and the guy next to you does his and we'll take the result win or lose.  This isn't offense vs. defense....and these are times when that kind of anti-team crap begins.

The coaches have duty to make sure this doesn't happen...but the players have the responsibility to do it.  Get back to work, keep chopping wood, or whatever cliche' floats your boat, but don't frickin' give up.  Giving up is what true losers do.

I, for one, don't believe they are losers.

Definitely not losers, the areas of where the team has come up short glare in my mind (Opponent and our own 3rd down conversions), and it is on both the responsibility of the players and the coaches.  It is disappointing to not have a victory yet, but there are still 7 games to go.  The players need to do a better job executing, and the coaches need to obviously put their players in better situations.  I have long said that I believe that last statement is what needs to change at Cornell.  There is obvious talent on the team, and on lookers such as Doolittle have noticed that the players aren't always put in the position to make plays for the team.  I know the players need to execute, and agree with this 100%.  But it goes both ways, you can give it all but you still can't force a square peg through a round hole.

Agreed 100%, maybe the coaches might tailor the game plan to exploit the players strengths and make changes?

I wonder if the reporter was a Coe Alum?
He's not.
I don't think that Coe will need any more incentive any way. I'm hoping it will be a close game like last year, but would not be surprised if the Rams are taken to the wood shed.

Personally knowing Mr. Bush I can assure all that he is not outspoken, arrogant, cocky, etc.  He is a very talented kid and humble as well.  If anything I think he is just saying that he has hit goals set out for him thus far and is looking towards the next step into becoming a better ball player.  Until he starts calling for Cornell to win conference titles or changes his name to "Busho Cinco" I wouldn't look too far into it.

He is a good kid. I have to believe that what was stated in the article was not in context. I wonder if the reporter was a Coe Alum?

Somebody has to have some confidence at Cornell. Somebody has to believe at Cornell.

I interpreted the young QB quotes' as making a positive statement about the character of his head coach to help recruit players by showing future recruits that Coach Dillon has a good assessment of his talent and the talent needed. This is a very humble kid based on my limited exposure to him.

The kid is a good athlete, once the team comes together, he will be a good player to accentuate the team. This is a team sport. There are other good players on the team i.e. the TE, RB and Safety which will probably have a better chance to get all conference considerations.

Now, we have bigger problems to solve than arguing about who will make All Conference team. We have to solve our problems on defense ASAP. The offense moves the ball but have to do a better job of protecting the ball and converting in the red zone. If we can get some of the fundamental improve, then you will get a better picture of the talent at Cornell.

I am curious why something like that was quoted at all? Is the kid that arrogant to believe that he would receive all-district(conference) honors because the coach promised him that?

That also begs the question of what the coach promised other kids?

I know that when my son went to Cornell, he was only promised the opportunity to a great education and the opportunity to pursue his enjoyment of playing sports at a higher level....not individual awards or accolades.

I wonder if there is an "All District award" hanging in the Coe locker room for the first D-lineman, linebacker, safety or back who gets a sack?

Did anyone else read the gazette article where the Cornell QB was promised by his coach that he would be all-district?

Is that a mis quote, or what?

I also agree that the uniform should illustrate the tradition. I like the classic Norse uniforms simply because they are simple, classic and just look good.

The good news is Cornell brings back their entire defense.
The bad news is they give up 36 points a game.

Reality  and truth bites much harder than "What might be?"

The proof is in the pudding?

I agree that Cornell will have a difficult time on the O-line. The O-line helped them move the ball regardless of who was behind center last season. They lost two arguably good receivers in Youngblood and Krogmann.

The defense will probably be the one thing that will shine for Cornell, and keep them in a few games.

As far as Dallas, will they make him a pocket passer, option QB, or both?

For all you Ram fans...Dallas Bush did report to camp! Ran into coach Dillon at the grocery store and he said he is there and ready to play. Now all he has to do is stay healthy so we don't go back to playing with a frosh qb.

This is an important piece to reach potential, good news

Any other QB's make it in besides Dallas? Even though he got some playing time late into the season last year, it would seem that he is still pretty green. The Rams haven't seemed to have much luck, er...talent at that position since Chris Lovely. I would think that the prospects of a more than one or two win season would crumble without other capable back ups available.
