"Senior quarterback Kurt Rocco (Cincinnati/Roger Bacon) will make his first collegiate start this week." from the game notes. From Twitter.

Other positions/roster spots of interest.
No. 2 QB - Seaman. Not surprising. Question is how long?
No. 2 Receiver behind Vince - another freshman from Louisville.
Defensively another freshman from Louisville behind Joe Millings.

Just some insight from the scrimmage (no game) from Waynesburg. The competition is on for QB. Piloto had a fine day. His only miscue was early, pass was underthrown, and db made a great leaping play to intercept. Other than that, I was very impressed with his presence in the pocket, nice touch passes, and some very nice deep throws. Don't take too much from this, I am certainly not an expert on QBs, but he did seem to do well.

The receivers got alot of personal attention from LK.

The offensive line did well for the most part. They either got tired or tight later on, as they did not do as well toward the end. I mention tight, due to Wayneburg seemed to run some very long series, compared to our offense.

TBs were hard to gage. Apparently there wasnt a TE available so there was very little run action.

Defense did well. Run defense was solid. But the pass defense had the same problem as varsity did against W&J, the bubble screen and short routes to the outside.  Overall a good performance.

BTW, the lights comment referred to the the one pass to the receiver that either never saw the ball or couldn't pick it up in the lights on the post route.

The run defense did well. I was trying to keep a mental tally in my head, but i do not recall a single positive yardage run by the W&Js first offense (maybe some with a yard or 2). The pass defense fared well too. They didn't have a blowup like the Browns did against Green Bay with that blown coverage, no easy touchdowns, AND missing two starters from last year's team.

TB and QB was a different story. Not gonna rehash what has been said. However, the blocking by the RB's in blitz situations scares me. Kmic was one helluva runner, but he could block too. At least once, LK made some remarks and had the lad take a break. Morring did seem to do well at blocking, but his running was unimpressive as noted.

Harrold needs to hurry back......

Oh, and the lights were too bright. Lost the ball in the lights.  ;D  Two night games this year, too.

From what I've seen, the next QB will be either Seaman or the kid from FLA.  The other two QB's practicing with the varsity are just place holders to get enough arms to keep the WR's entertained.

Thanks for the update on the QB. I was curious about tailback position? Anyone care to provide input prior to the scrimmage?  Also, what is the possibility that Rocco may start the first game(s), but one of these QBs finishing the season as their ability progresses with LK's offense? I'll defer to the experts as I am fairly new to board and have not been able to attend the highly touted HSCoach "How to properly use quoting.." class.

Since this was my first Stagg Bowl, i don't think i could ask for a much better game. Congratulations to both teams for an outstanding display of gamemanship.

Actually met LK for the first time Friday night. His first words to my son, "How are your grades?" Some people ask me why my son decided on MUC. Now I can explain. If this doesnt demonstrate the quality of the coaching, I really dont know what does.

That was clear helmet to helmet and the Hobart kid who lead with his head wasn't even relevent to the tackle. No excuse yet no flag.

Thats what I thought, too.

Did anyone else see LK out talking to the refs after the shot on Claycomb? Sometimes to be a fly....

Nice post OU#25.

Hobart plays with 3 in the defensive back field. No offense to Hobart's backs, but I havent seen anyone that can single cover Shorts. With 3 legitimate receivers on the field, how do you expect to stop the passing game? Linebacker on the tightend? I can only hope so, as he watches Reynolds run right past him. If that wasn't enough, we may not only see Kmic break the D3 runninng record this weekend, but possibly as he sets a mark for all purpose yards as he takes a screen/flare for a TD.
