Week 6 picks

Trinity 31
Middlebury 21

Trinity will find a way to slow the Middlebury offense, but I don't think that the Middlebury's D can stop McGrath and Co. in the Coop.

Bowdoin 21
Wesleyan 20

I think that the Capt.'s statistics are worth noting, but I just don't believe that Wesleyan is good enough to limit Bowdoin's big plays on offense.

Amherst 17
Tufts 14

I have not shown Tufts the love that they deserve, but I am going with a gut feeling on this one.

Colby 14
Bates 7

I'm pulling for Bates to keep it close, but they will need a lot of help from the refs, the weather and Colby!

Williams 28
Hamilton 14

I know that anything can happen in Clinton, NY; that being said, I don't think that it will happen today.

Enjoy the weekend, NESCACers.

Fair enough.  It is time to put this topic to bed.  It's nice to hear the insight of those with a say.

Any thoughts on POYs with 3 weeks remaining?

Pat,

I understand that teams may have a common competitor (through 4 degrees of seperation) and that it does factor into your rankings.  I do believe that speculation plays a roll in this ranking, as well.  With this in mind, I think that we can speculate if a NESCAC team is worthy of a top 25 ranking.  I have not said that they have earned it, but that is no reason to automatically dismiss them from the ranking.

2004 Trinity: 27th
2005 Trinity: 25th

When one shouts that he is the toughest guy in the world but refuses to fight anyone outside of his neighborhood, then his shouts are going to be either ignored or ridiculed by those outside of his neighborhood.

Frank,

I have to disagree with you on this one.  These kids are very good football players and DO NOT create their own schedules.  There inability to play a ninth game, an outside the conference opponent, as well enter into the National Playoffs is dictated by the presidents of the NESCAC.   If we can sit here and rank California teams against Ohio teams in a poll, with no common competition, than we have the ability to rank a NESCAC team.  I am not saying that they have earned the right to be in the rankings, but I would not simply avoid ranking a NESCAC team based on your reasoning.

Let's see if week 5 can compete with week 4!!!

Colby 14
Hamilton 13

I think this is a great match-up.  The home track makes the difference.

Trinity 28
Bowdoin 14

Tough to concentrate with the Banjo band in your ears, but the Bants will make there way back to the "Heartbeat" with a 5-0 record.

Amherst 28
Wesleyan 7

Nothing about this game makes me think that it will be close.

Middlebury 31
Bates 10

Too much offense for Bates to handle.

Williams 28
Tufts 24

I believe that Williams is the 2nd best team in the conference.

Have a great gameday, NESCACers!

The legend Greg Ward threw 76 attempts against Middlebury in 2001.

Unfortunately, it was in a losing effore (14-7).  Also, it was NOT an overtime game.

NO @@@@ IN THE COOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TRINITY 28
TUFTS 27

1OT

GREAT GAME!

"Trinity on pace to set the NESCAC record for pulling games out of its @ss ... maybe they should just run the whole game in the hurry-up offense ..."

I would have to disagree.  They have shot themselves in the foot too many times today and did a great job of coming back (even after the controversial fumble).

The Hamilton game was hard earned, as well.

Pulling it out of your @ss is getting lucky...I think that Trinity is earning their points.

BTW, the Trin gameday crew is doing a great job with the commentary!

Let's go to overtime!

NO **** IN THE COOP!
#10
What a drive!  Gallaghan (and Cox) tie the game!

Sorry about being late with my picks, as well.  I hope that they are still valid.

Camp Trin  28
Tufts 7

In the 'Coop, for starters, and the Bants learned their lesson last week.

Hamilton 21
Bowdoin 20

The Conts deserve a win!

Amherst 28
Colby 14

Amherst wants to stay alive for the title.  They come back home for a solid victory.

Williams 35
Middlebury 28

Lots of offense with the Ephs coming away with a great victory.

Bates 14
Wesleyan 13

This is Bates' chance to get a nice win.  Why not!

Not making it up to Hartford, so I'll send the love from afar;

NO **** IN THE COOP!

I have the Hamilton's 7, correct...
#13
Some quick picks

Trincoll 35
Hamilton 7

I don't see another 2006 game

Colby 21
Wesleyan 14

It sounds like Colby is playing some good ball and they are at home.

Tufts 21
Bowdoin 20

I like Bowdoin putting some points up, but I want a 3-0 v. 3-0 match-up next week at the 'Coop.

William  63
Bates 14

Probably not the score, but it really stinks being Bates this week.

Amherst 21
Middlebury 17

I'm calling it an upset, based on the game being at Middlebury.  I see some long runs against the Panthers; young/new guys in blitz/stunt defenses = mistakes.  That will cost Mid the game.

Hope all is well with the board!  GO NESCAC!
#14
Great win for the Bants!  I'm sure that Vernon Street will be thumping tonight!

Congrats to Colby on an outstanding win, as well.

It's shaping up to be another exciting NESCAC season!

Redtail,

I would love to know how any times each team brings less than 5 on the defensive side (probably not many)...lot's of negative plays and a couple of big plays; that's my prediction.
