One thing Will has going for him, looking at his teams at GB he has quite an eye for D3 talent.

I could see on the webcast that there were hardly any fans there and in addition to some good baseball stuff he has some interesting observations about the event:

"The crowd at Cedar Rapids stands out above the melt. I'd say the average attendance at the ballyard hovered around 200 people, but 95% of those humans were part of the entourage for one of the eight teams."

"And unlike Appleton, Wisconsin, the town that hosted the D-III World Series for almost 20 years before 2019 and treated it like a big event that mattered to locals, the city of Cedar Rapids had practically no idea the World Series was going on."

This made me think back to when two teams from Texas were playing for a championship in the middle of a weekday in Appleton and some on here complaining about the attendance.  At least Appleton had a few casual fans and the crowds on the first few days were usually okay.  It drew well if there was a WIAC team involved.  I don't know what factor Covid played in it, but it looked like every game in Cedar Rapids (in 2019 as well) was a friends and family crowd.

Full membership happening July 1, 2021.

DE PERE - St. Norbert College's intercollegiate athletics program will join the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, the conference announced today. The Green Knights will compete in the NACC beginning in the 2020-21 school year.

"Extensive study of our athletic department and the quality of academic experience for our student-athletes led us to explore Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference membership," St. Norbert College President Brian Bruess said. "Our student-athletes will be spending significantly less time away from campus allowing for a more integrated student experience."

"St. Norbert College is a fine academic institution with a strong record of athletic success and a deep commitment to student achievement," said Dr. Scott Flanagan, Edgewood College president and President of the NACC's Executive Committee. "Those reasons, along with their location near our current geographical area, make St. Norbert an exceptional fit for the NACC. We are excited to welcome St. Norbert to the conference."

The NACC, of which St. Norbert was already an affiliate member for men’s volleyball, consists of 13 schools in Wisconsin and Illinois. Wisconsin members include Alverno College, Milwaukee School of Engineering and Wisconsin Lutheran College (all of Milwaukee), Concordia University Wisconsin (Mequon), Edgewood College (Madison), Lakeland University (Plymouth) and Marian University (Fond du Lac). Illinois members include Concordia University Chicago and Dominican University (both of River Forest), Aurora University (Aurora), Benedictine University (Lisle), Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago) and Rockford University (Rockford). St. Norbert is already partners in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association with MSOE, Concordia Wisconsin, Marian and Aurora.

"We are very pleased to have St. Norbert College join the NACC as our 14th full-time member," said NACC Commissioner Dr. G. Steven Larson. "St. Norbert brings a commitment to both academics and athletics that mirrors the core values of the NACC. They will be a strong partner as we continue to grow into our expanded geographic footprint."

"A vibrant and competitive program will enhance our student-athletes' overall experience," St. Norbert athletics director Tim Bald said. "With significantly less travel, our student-athletes will have more occasions to engage with our faculty and the community of St. Norbert College."

The move to the NACC will end membership in the Midwest Conference, which has nine other members located in Wisconsin (Lawrence University, Ripon College and Beloit College), Illinois (Lake Forest College, Knox College, Monmouth College and Illinois College) and Iowa (Cornell College and Grinnell College). The Green Knights won 121 Midwest Conference championships in 14 different sports while appearing in 66 NCAA Division III Tournaments after joining the league full-time in 1983. St. Norbert also won 19 Midwest Conference All-Sports Trophies - 15 for women and four for men - despite not fielding men’s and women’s swimming until 2018-19.

"We will miss our many rivalries and relationships built over nearly four decades as a Midwest Conference member and aim to maintain many as non-conference competition in the future," Bruess said. "We are looking forward to growing our existing relationships with NACC members."

"Our reduced travel in a smaller geographic footprint will be less strenuous on our student-athletes, coaching staff and support staff," Bald said. "We are still aligned with institutions of similar academic excellence and missions, while easing demands on schedules and budgets."

St. Norbert will reacquaint itself with long-running series against NACC schools dating prior to World War II. The Green Knights began men’s basketball series with Concordia Wisconsin in 1924-25, with Lakeland in 1932-33 and with MSOE in 1933-34.

St. Norbert has a 23-sport athletics program, with 19 of those competing in every championship the NACC sponsors. Men's NACC champions are sponsored in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor) and volleyball. Women's NACC champions are sponsored in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis, track and field (indoor and outdoor) and volleyball.

Wabash(IN) 6'8" F, Elijah Vander Velden, has committed to play basketball at UWSP.  Indiana certainly isn't a normal recruiting territory for the Pointers but his size should be a welcome addition.

His father Logan is from Valders, Wisconsin and played for Dick Bennett (two years with Tony Bennett) during the D1 glory years at UW-Green Bay.  Logan had a 15 game "career" in the NBA with the Clippers.  Semling started coaching at GB a couple years after the elder Vander Velden was there, but there aren't that many degrees of separation between the younger Vander Velden and Point.

The good news is Platteville has to split its final 4 games and Oshkosh has to sweep. The bad news for Platteville is 3 of the 4 are on the road. At WW which is a trap game, home against RF who beat them, at EC and the Zorn curse  (Platteville has never played well there Bo Ryan only won 2 games at Zorn) then  on the road at Point.  I still think it's Platteville's to lose but they will have to earn it.

I think Ken Anderson a WSUC coach who like Bo Ryan was hired as the head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers (he had a stellar 4 day career at Wisconsin) and his good Eau Claire teams had something to do with that curse.

I said this before and I'll say it again. If UWW went down this road it would be a PR nightmare. That's before we looked into mascots 

So I'll pass on playing this game.

Thanks to an intramural basketball team at Northern Colorado in the early 2000s that name and mascot has already been used.  Maybe Whitewater can just change the colors.

Suemnick was offered by UM-Duluth tonight.  Kaukauna's Donovan Ivory got out of his letter of intent to Duluth recently and my guess is that opened up a spot to offer Suemnick.

Good for him.  Denmark isn't exactly a basketball factory.  He caught my eye on your list because I have seen him play live 5 times, 4 this year the last being the state semifinal and once last year.  Really liked his defense in the state semifinal against Wisconsin's Mr. Basketball Waupun's Marcus Domask (Northern Kentucky for now... their coach seems to be getting a lot of interest from other schools).    Slammed two back in his face and Domask only had 9 points when Suemnick picked up his fourth foul with 12ish minutes left (averaged 27 and ended up with 21).  Like you said earlier he is very athletic for a 6'7" guy, I saw him put on a crazy dunking exhibition after their game at UWGBs Kress Center last year.  He can definitely play above the rim.  It would have been nice if Denmark would have focused their offense on him more often instead of playing so much 5 out motion with him on the wing.  Of course this is all moot if he does end up in D2, but he could always end up in D3 some day.

So as a last resort I tried it in Internet Explorer, that popped up an error that said stream not available on this platform then it went to some studio show.   I tried it on my phone and it worked... apparently PCs are obsolete.

I get nothing but a black screen too.  It is streaming on the Oshkosh student radio site.

He has some big shoes to fill.  I don't think he will ever be able to match that 34 game conference losing streak   Maybe someday when I look for Stout in the standings I can start from the top, not the bottom.
