This is the official thread as last year was lost to Covid. Keep up little.
I can't wait to christen the new wally world memorial feed lot and fair grounds with a DePauw win this weekend. Where do I pick up Zima in Crawfordsdingle? I know that place is trapped in the 90's and has yet to realize they discontinued making that sweet sweet nectar in 2008. Wait until you try sushi!
And yes, that end zone celebration was during a "monkey stop," thank you for the reminder.
Who's got the bell?

1. Lose Bell.
2. Get waxed in the playoffs.
3. Have stadium bulldozed. (Why even rebuild at this point?)
It has been a great few weeks for the boyzzz in red.

Never thought I'd say this, but I miss the days when the banter between Wabash and DePauw supporters this time of year here was fast and furious.
I agree. The days when the Monon Board would be shut down days before the game were great. It was a precursor to the lot before the game. I think the lack of interest now really has to do with the Depauw men having a wife and children at home that are more important than dealing with the techinical college boyzzzz on the interwebs.

There is a lot of "used to be" things around this event, both from an alumni and campus standpoint. Admittedly, times have changed and some of the activities held in the 70's, 80's, and 90's won't work anymore for various and sundry reasons. IMHO, the leadership of both schools have stepped back from supporting events (and in some cases specifically rejecting opportunities) that would bring the the students and their respective alumni together.
As far as I know, the only collaborative event associated with the Monon Bell game is the annual (now in its 7th year) relay of the game ball from the visiting to home school on the Friday before the game. This is done by the Phi Delts of both schools to raise money for ALS (Lou Gerhig was a Phi Delt from Columbia).
Although they did away with the annual "touch" football game on Saturday morning, Denver does a great Monon weekend (As I have heard, and never been).
Friday 6-11 PM - DePauw vs. Wabash Bowling @ Moe's Original BBQ in Englewood
Saturday 9-11 AM - Tailgate @ Brooklyn's with DePauw vs. Wabash Cornhole Tournament
Saturday 11 AM - Monon Bell Game!! Telecast party @ Brooklyn's
The school that wins 2 of the 3 events this weekend brings home the trophy.

Yeah we used to fight each other on the track behind the end zones.
We would have a brawl at the coin toss. Flags were thrown, the teams separated, penalties assessed, and the game would start.
Also, too, Dabash sucks.

Just read the Indianapolis Monthly article about the Bell game. The last 4 sentences sort of sums up a lot about the differences between the 2 schools. Mamma's boys can't guard the bell so they need the police to do it for them. Note: Wabash does not.
"The last successful heist was in 1998. Wabash students pulled off a daring raid on Halloween and brought the Bell back to Wabash. Today, when DePauw has possession, it places the Bell on a pressure sensor wired to the local police station. Wabash does not."

Nor does this. "Rex Off Colorado Red" is also a bit more creative than that touchdown celebration...

Really looking forward to Saturday!
Never forget that the play should have been called back due to the hold (blatant tackle) by Dabboyzzz left tackle.
Typical Wally believing a Pancake is knocking someone down from behind.
Just so we are clear:
Block in the Back
ARTICLE 4. a. A block in the back is contact against an opponent occurring
when the force of the initial contact is from behind and above the waist.
When in question, the contact is at or below below the waist.
Holding. The hand(s) and arm(s) shall not be used to grasp, pull, hook,
clamp or encircle in any way that illegally impedes or illegally obstructs
an opponent.
PENALTY—10 yards Penalties for Team A fouls behind the neutral zone
are enforced from the previous spot.
Blocking in the Back
ARTICLE 6. A block in the back (other than against the ball carrier) is illegal.
PENALTY—10 yards. Penalties for Team A fouls behind the neutral zone
are enforced from the previous spot.
You probably also believe Rudy wasn't offsides.
