Messages - WAS A PLAYER

I don't know how unusual it is but I would say that indicates the strength of that league during those years.

This is a very interesting and entertaining topic. Anyone who wants to push for their conference can probably come up with a method that sounds good for their conference. I find it hard to argue that the UAA isn't at the top for the last three years anyway. Although if you want to look at all 8 teams you can argue that those teams at the bottom (3), haven't been that competitive. I have seen all UAA teams play and have been to all 18 NCAA tourney games Wash U has played. The fact that Wash U has only won the UAA outright once while going to the Final Four three straght years speaks volumes for the league. The fact that Wash U only hosted 2 of those tourney games also gives strength to the argument. IMO

Also quite impressive. I  guess The Bears will have to go back and get their third title to be able to "one up" the Vikings with 4 straight appearances.

This is a little tweak to the subject. Tyler Nading, Aaron Thompson, Cam Smith, and Sean Wallis (missed the middle year) that  have gone 17-1 in the NCAA's. 2007 with two sophomores and a freshman starting along with the first sub a freshman had to beat #11 Whitworth, @ #1 Stevens Point, #10 Hope to get to the Final Four. Lost to #4 Virg. Wesleyan on a semi controversial play, and then beat #2 Wooster. In 2008, had to beat #17 Wooster, @#6 Augustana, Buena Vista, #14 Millsaps to get to the Final Four. Then beat #1 Hope and #3 Amherst. This year survived the "Bracket of Death" by beating, #20 Lawrence, #8 Whitewater, @#3 Wheaton, #1 St. Thomas, to get to #23 Guilford and finally #6 Stockton. I'm not sure you'll find another run of this nature where the same 4 players were involved. Most impressive.

Nate Novosel of the University of Rochester needs to be mentioned on  an All Freshman team.

I didn't see Bartolotta play but if you are going to throw defensive ability into the mix, and why not, then you have to start bringing Aaron Thompson into the discussion. I saw the matchup between the two and was not impressed with Raymond on the defensive end. Tell me this. If you had $1000 on the table and had to pick at team to win, who would you go with?

I hope everyone realizes that the statement by PurpleReign is not a belief of  Wash U fans. We know all to well that anything can happen in Salem. Go Bears!

Wow, a whole week goes by and nothing to talk about? I see some interesting and important games this weekend. Wash U can secure at least a co-championship with two wins, I believe. Carnegie and Rochester could a long way in putting themselves in  position for the post season. I was wondering why Matt Corning didn't play last Sunday and if he will play this weekend? Is everyone healthy and will suspended players be back?  What are eveyones thoughts and observations?

As Jack said as President in the great movie Mars Attacks

"Why can't we all just.................get along"

Marty, I for one, love your loyalty. There are a few here on the board (not I) that get irritated at your redundancy. Wash U is obviously in the best position, but a wise man once told me "the minute you think you are good, you are not". I think the Wash U players realize this and this is one of the things that makes this team special. They look past no team. The UAA is still the UAA and there are no gimmies. The remaining games should be very interesting.

Yes, but Chicago went to the tourney because they won the UAA. I'm not sure they get in  if they don't.

Just a matter of time till Coach Moore, Coach Cline, and the health of their players, put this team on the right track.

Just a note for dansand,
the "T" on collins wasn't for hanging on the rim but because of his outstanding athletic ability he was able to tomahawk two hand dunk AND slap the backboard. That is a no no.

There have been a couple of box scores totally messed up. UC had players I have never heard of, I believe they had Corning in there as someone else. The Wash U box score had someone scoring that didn't even go on the trip to Denver. Still, exciting to get the season underway. My guess UC comes ready to play against Augie.

Not surprised The Scots put 65 on the board against a DI team. Ian Franks is much improved and the newcomers can flat out shoot. Best wishes to Brandon and would like to know some info on Marty. Even with the new faces, I'm sure coach Moore and his staff will have the Scots ready to go.

dblock, As the years pass I think it is tougher and tougher to predict the UAA. I'm not sure I agree with your comment about Chicago being the most fundamentally sound team in the league. Did you watch the Championship game. It was a clinic. Nobody came to double Ruths because they were afraid of the periimeter play and Thompson still got them for 19. I think  they will be fine offensively. I actually feel defense is the strength of Wash U and the absence of Ruths will be felt there. Also, I believe Chicago is the team that lost the POY so they must have more to replace than Wash U.
