Sharples for Hope is gone?  Wow, didn't see that one coming!  Transferring to MSU.  Hoopdreams...what inside information are you getting?

Hope is going to need to find an inside game if they are going to be competitive this year!  Way too many three pointers!  I can't imagine Glenn VanWieren will be happy with that!
Sounds like Hope just needed to get the gitters out from the first game!  Need to work on taking care of the ball!!!

hmmm....sounds like what everyone said last year...lack of an inside presence will kill them....I think GVW would take another final four trip right now.

but way too many 3-pointers???  have you watched Hope play in the last couple of years?

Yea...I actually played for them!

Thank you sac...I was coming on here to say the same exact thing!  I can't believe how many times they said that on the radio as well.  I believe another kid had 43 in the DeVos, not against Hope tho!

Just wondering if anyone can post the link to HopeTV on here and if that is something just for league games or not?  Please let me know!

Hope's team photo is up and a rumor I had heard late last week was confirmed: Jorin Scott, 6'6 forward who made the team, is no longer in the program.  A long, very athletic player who was "quite raw"  by word of mouth.  Never saw him play personally.  I believe he is still on campus and I hope all works out with him.

*Warning, the following question has no root in reality, just my own meandering thoughts*

Does Jorin's departure open a spot for Logan Neil? Is he that good? Certainly they are different types of players, particularly in size, but I was just curious what ya'll thought.

I am pretty sure that it won't because Hope currently had 16 players on their roster.  GVW likes to go with a 15 man rotation, 5 v 5 v 5 in practices.  I also heard Joran might be playing on the JV team if things didn't work out on varsity.  Anyone know if this is true?

Since I have been following these pre-season predictions in the MIAA for quite a few years now, and since Hope lost four starters from last year, I predict the coaches will unanimously pick Calvin.  Do I think that is the right pick??...NO, but you heard it here first.

I hate to be "that guy" but because coaches cannot vote for their team no pick can ever be unanimous.  I bet Hope gets at least 1 first place vote.
That's why a pick of every team except your own would be considered unanimous.

Calvin to win the league, returning to many good players with game experience!

Sounds like a good debut by the Knights.

One thing seems obvious--this year's version of Calvin hoops has more overall footspeed than last year's. They covered the perimeter skip passes much more quickly than we've seen in recent years.

If you're assessment is right (and it ususally is), this would be bad news for the rest of the MIAA. IMHO Calvin's biggest problem the last couple of years has been a lack of speed, especially on defense.

I think their troubles in the last couple of years comes from two different things!  1) KVS is always changing their offensive system, looking for the next best thing and which has proven ineffective and 2) their defensive scheme is one of the hardest to pick up on in any level of college ball (especially for incoming fresh and first year varsity players).  Its a defensive system that over commits on help side, leaving a skip pass wide open!  Hense the first Calvin/Hope game from last year with Tyler Wolfe being left un-guarded.

Also....good to hear Calvin kept it close with AIA but remember what they did to Wash U last year and look how the season turned out after that.
