Remember Spalding was already in the NCAA membership process when they joined the SLIAC.  IWC started the NCAA process at same time it joined the SLIAC.  That's why Spalding was eligible for tournaments sooner in its SLIAC life than IWC will be.

Was curious to see the results of all SLIAC reps in the NCAA tourney.  Anyone know if and where this info is available at?

Bunch time...it's included in the Tournament program posted online....http://static.psbin.com/b/z/zrx6yjkacuqo30/mbbtourn14.pdf (pg 11)

Are the media time outs a DIII wide change? It may be the stupidest thing I've heard. Considering I don't know of a SLIAC school that has media.

Not a DIII wide change. Agreed, one of the stupidest things.  Apparently this is being forced on schools by one person in a high ranking position (commish) to "make a name" for the conference. Well, if being seen as a joke is making a name, then he'll succeed there; and schools probably won't come play at our places.  No other DIII conference does this, they've got reasonable leadership.  How is it even permitted to have media timeouts with no media (probably not but someone doesn't seem to care about rules).

Denny, We can only hope (no pun intended) that is soon.

The Conference apparently met this past week to vote on Iowa Wesleyan.  Anyone heard anything?  My source hasn't been around to respond to me.

I saw something similar to this in the Portland Press Herald http://www.pressherald.com/sports/boston-college-reaches-final_2010-04-09.html (at the bottom of the article).  One difference is that Curry is not included in the new 9 team conference according to the article.  Which to my makes sense, but I guess what doesn't make much sense is a 9-team conference.  8 conference games make sense for most other sports but, how will it work out in basketball, an unbalanced schedule?

What are other peoples thoughts, looks like the NH teams will have to find a new home.

The article states UNE plus 8 other institutions but only lists 7 institutions plus UNE.  My guess is an editorial error.  There are a number of 9-team (or odd number-teamed) Conferences out there.  Every Conference date there is one team with a bye.

Commish Wolper - After communicating strictly via e-mail, I finally met Will today before the SLIAC Meetings.  Great guy!  It's was a super pleasure getting to know him.  He seems to have a good, young vision on what can be done in the SLIAC.

Pantherpride, I have great respect for you and your knowledge of the Conference but this comment really surprises me.  One thing you have right is "young."  The commissioner seems to be young but with that he is in over his head.

Is the Conference better than it was two years ago?  Heck no, it is worse at least administratively.  Since he's been here Lincoln Christian left, Maryville is leaving and the SLIAC is now expanding to Kentucky creating 6-hour trips for schools.  Two years ago we were on the verge of adding football, now we are on the verge of losing it in the Conference.  Has this kid done anything to try to save it?  He put a couple of nice quotes in a release about Blackburn.  We still don't know what's going on at Principia, at least from the Conference though some local papers have announced they were suspending.  He seems to be sitting back as things fall apart.

Does this guy ever get out to games, does he even know the student-athletes, do they know him?  He needs to get out from behind his desk to do his job right.  Previous commissioner was tremendously visible, a veteran of athletic administration and had a clue what was going on in and out of the SLIAC.  With all due respect to Eureka_SID and other SIDs, that is the commissioners background but how does that qualify him to run the conference (though he is apparently doing a great job running it in the ground).  I hope the decision makers recognize this before its too late.

The previous commissioner got on here and provided us insight, still does once in a while even retired.  I assume since this kid is a former SID he knows about this board but why is he hiding, why does he refuse to comment on peoples thoughts, concerns, etc. like his predecessor.

Sure one thing is better, the web site is updated sooner and more consistently.  Guess it shouldn't surprise us that the one area of improvement is in sports information where he spent a few years, but he's not the SID and the credit for the web site must be given to the conference SID.

Pride, I love your knowledge and insight, but you are way off here man, sorry.

And if everyone knew the additional scrutiny Maryville is under this year from the Conference, people would not be as concerned of an uneven playing field.

JWJ, I apologize for having to ask this questions, but I do not understand what you mean by the above. Can you elaborate a little bit for me?

The Conference is requiring Maryville to make their recruiting contact and compliance documentation available to the Conference for review.  Other information is  required to be submitted but do not recall what that is.  Any indication Maryville is not 100 percent in compliance with D-III regulations and they will be made ineligible for Conference championships & tournaments, and will be reported to the NCAA as being in violation.

Maryville is eligible for Conference titles & AQ because they are eligible for D-III Championships.  They are eligible for D-III Championships because they have declared they will be in compliance with D-III rules and not transition to D-II rules until after this academic year.  Any violation of that and the institution will not be eligible for D-III championships, will be delayed (or thrown out) in the D-II transitional process.

This poster is not one of those that is intrigued by their transformation. And, they aren't making it any easier.
ie: The first SLIAC team to charge at the gate.

I see this as a direct conflict with the SLIAC Charter. And, after this year, we will not be hearing a word about this team in March for three years.

While it may be a conflict with the SLIAC Charter, it is not a conflict with current Conference policy which was changed within the last year or two permitting institutions make their own decision on charging admission.

And if everyone knew the additional scrutiny Maryville is under this year from the Conference, people would not be as concerned of an uneven playing field.
