Hey A--hole ! I just spent eleven days in New Jersey helping relatives save what they could from homes that were destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, I come on this site to read a smug, ignorant comment about "perhaps JHUFAN and hubert are heavily medicated now but I am sure they will return" Where the ---- do you get off making this kind of statement! My life is much more evolved then making comments on a soccer or any other type forum. Until I returned home this evening I had no idea what was going on with Hopkins soccer nor was it on my top 100 list of things to be concerned about, nor is it at this point.
Please do not include my name in any of your future postings.

Mr. Matson...If I violated any TOS and you wish to ban me from this site I understand but this guy is an A------...plain and simple.

Hubert....in reference to your last post under Hopkins-Messiah Thread I am refering to the guy who stands on the sidelines with his arms folded as the only decision maker. The jabbering guy as you call him actually encourages the girls as he at least verbalizes with them and gives alot of positive reinforcement on the sidelines. He deals mainly with the defense but at least you see him on the sidelines. Prior to him coming to Hopkins the team went through assistant coaches on an almost yearly basis because the head coach would not even look at them if they had an idea on a set play or where to play a player.
Tonight Hopkins had nine SOG in the first half and finished the double OT with twelve total!!!
Substitutions...I don't think they had anyone on the bench to substitute for. I tried to count the players on the bench but it was dark on that side of the pitch so I could not tell for sure.

Hubert....There is only one person making the decisions for the team...make no mistake about that. I mentioned a graduated four year starter who holds many JHU records who made her place in the record book because she was hungry and wanted the ball at her foot even if she was double or triple marked. That is the difference between her and  "your 1"(as you called her).

Hubert...spoken like a true fan of the game. Your points are spot on. The first weekend at the TCNJ Tournament the Hopkins girls played the first game with NO Emotion or Drive. Chalk it up to the first game of the season with some getting familar with each others playing style and you eek out a 1-0 win. The opponent offered no real offense so the defense was not really tested. Game two had the big gun score three although she was invisible during game one. Guess she decided she wanted to play. Result 4-0 win over another offensively challenged team. Messiah, different story. Very well coached team that keep churning, you never see them take a play off. The vaunted 4-5-1 which looked good the first weekend was shown to be what it really is. The midfield could not challenge on the offensive side because they had to be aware of Messiahs wings and/or playing the ball wide or passing inside. The mids were is defense mode. Hopkins big gun was no where to be seen again. This season she does not have Erica Suter who demanded double marking and was left free for a pass or rebound. She is the offense in a one pronged fork.
His defense is poor compared to the last 6-8 seasons when the flat four defense was solid.
You will also understand that Coach picks a favorite, usually a freshman who for some reason he becomes enamored with, starting and playing said player in front of better players. The freshman favorite from three seasons ago left the team! Imagine that!
Team leadership is another big question mark when you have all these disruptions going on but then again Coach has never given respect to any of his team captain(s) as far  as opinions or gripes. I hope the girls get their act together this weekend. And Hubert for what it's worth,Coaches mantra has always been"It's a tournament" or "It's not a conference game" so it's not important to him..He is content being the King of The Centennial Conference.

Women's soccer / Re: Hopkins got screwed!!
November 20, 2011, 01:12:30 PM
JHU was outplayed, outhustled and outcoached! As for Hopkins playing well for the first twenty mins or so that is a correct observation but with most Hopkins matches they begin to push the offensive third which takes pressure off the defense. Amherst was controlling possession and showed the weakness in the defense. Since Hopkins did not play a tough regular season they were able to play through the offensive side for almost all their games( not counting Swarthmore who gave them a real challenge or TCNJ whose game was played in miserable conditions).

Sorry for my posting error about Trinity hosting this weekend. To add fuel to the fire Ithaca and William Smith College are about 40-45 miles apart from each other. Not logical in any scope of thinking. As stated in a previous post I understand cost factor but your record and seeding play no part in hosting. This is shameful.  Do you think that since Trinity is hosting a first round NCAA football game on Saturday that that played into the decision?

The host teams for this weekends sectionals are Messiah,William Smith,Trinity, and Wheaton.
Some interesting matchups! Hope the weather is not an issue at any of the venues. Good Luck!

A solid soccer this past weekend for the JHU Women's soccer program! They dominated both Saturdays and Sundays matches with a strong defense and goals scored by multiple players. This upcoming weekend looks to be very exciting with a Hopkins vs Amhurst matchup. The teams are ranked #4&#8 in the latest National Poll and are two of the three Division 3 women's soccer programs with an undefeated and untied record.
I understand the Messiah men's team lost on Sunday opening up the weekend for the Messiah Women's team to host. Looking foward to this coming weekend.

Understood and hope to see that happen. My point is that JHU is/has been 4th in the National Poll. By virtue of that they should not be playing in the same bracket as Messiah and should meet them in the semi's or final match( obviously this is predicated on both teams advancing to this point. I realize that the NCAA has financial criteria they look at when setting up the brackets but it just does not seem right.

That happened in 2009. Messiah  Women's Soccer should have hosted the sectionals but were bumped by the Men's team having preference. I would think that 2011 would play out the same way. The NCAA does frown on having both Men's and Womens games played at the same location.

And lets not forget Emory and TCNJ ! This side of the bracket is obscene! You have #1,2,4,5,8,12,15,19,29,21,and#22 in the National Poll on this side of the bracket. sheesh!

Women's soccer / Hopkins got screwed!!
November 07, 2011, 02:56:08 PM
Hopkins gets screwed again...finishes 4th in the National poll but yet gets put in the same bracket as Messiah. I understand that the NCAA tries to use distance of travel as a guideline but what purpose does it serve to have the #1,2,4,5,and 8th ranked teams all on the same side of the bracket? If they get to the sectional it will be played at Messiah when Hopkins should be hosting a sectional. This is just plain wrong. You give it your all during the regular season to get the ranking and then it means nothing.
