First I must say that I love this, its not even the week of the HSU-UMHB game and the chatter has already began.
On another note, there was an interesting article where Coach Pete makes clear there is no QB controversy. http://www.tdtnews.com/story/2009/9/22/60805
My favorite line in the story was the writer calling McMurry "the team formerly known as the Indians" like they were Prince or something. Is the term "The Nation" catching on in Abilene?
Bailey is going to be a stud. He throws well, is very fast, and runs the option well. He will be real threat. I also thought Noack looked very good against TLU. He reminds me of the 2004 QB.

He had good depth on his kickoffs, but seemed to be aiming his other kicks. Hopefully this is a "teachable moment" for Munoz, Bristow and their teammates.
Good news Cru fans, Munoz returns this week against TLU. You can read that and more here:http://www.tdtnews.com/story/2009/09/15/60650
That is great news for the Cru, the one field goal attempt we had at SNU was not very pretty.
i also saw that bristow is still serving his suspension. it is always good to have a good kicker, hopefully the back up will continue to get better.

Given the turn of events in McMinnville on Saturday, I am going out on a limb and going to predict that LC goes to Abilene this weekend and comes back to Central Louisiana with a win.
I hope that you are right in your prediction.

Does anyone know if Quincy Daniels will be in a CRU uniform for the '09 season?
he should since he was a junior this year. might be a junior again if he gets the redshirt.

that kick-off was the weirdest play i had ever seen. i do think from that point on in the game it really broke the Cru's back and the game was decided then.

Of course its nice when as a team you've averaged 5.2 yds/ carry and have 5 rb with 200+ yds on the season and 4 with 500+ yds/ And lots of teams throw on the CRU, if their QB can escape the pressure up front like Feaster @ HSU. Other wise they play a lot of football on their backs, at least thats what 109 tackles for loss and 36 sacks suggest to me.
how many times can your starting RB get knocked unconscious only to put your 8th string guy in there? apparently alot. . . . after watching the past two games i don't see why teams aren't throwing the ball all over this cru secondary. small, slow, and weak in my opinion.
The coackes at UMHB definitly want to be physical, and take away the run to make the other team one deminsional.

Who cares what other people remember! Fans are not always going to remember who got second place at the Stagg Bowl in '04... but I will. It was important to me as a player. Going to the Stagg Bowl and losing was a hell of a lot better than getting knocked out in the first round and just "making the playoffs." No one is always going to remember who won the semi-final round vs. Mount Union in '04 when they were #1 in the country... but I will, because it was important to me.
So please don't downplay the importance of post-season games and look at it from simply a fan's perspective. Fans come and go as their team wins and loses, and the game will never be anywhere close to as important to them as it is to those who are playing and coaching the game. Please keep this in mind as we near the Stagg bowl. If it was "RARELY" important to "ANYONE" then football, or any sport for that matter, would not be what it is today. And what a sad thought that is...
GO CRU!!!!!
You said it! I agree with you 100%!

I was part of the team that got donkey-stomped by Hardin-Simmons in the regular season after those shirts were made. I'm all for the pep rally, but maybe we should change up the saying a little instead of something very similar to what was done in the past!!! That is just a little to eerie...
CRU96, I am a little biased having played in the '04 Stagg Bowl, but I would like to think so far that is the biggest game in our programs history. (Not taking anything away from this huge game) Next in my mind would be beating Mount Union at home. No disrespect, just a different opinion.
On another note, I also have been very thankful to have you as a poster for UMHB this year. You seem to understand a lot of what football is about and what it is about at UMHB. If I could give you karma I would, but it will have to wait about 30 more posts.
I was also a part of that team that year. It was a really tough loss, but in the end it got us really focussed and then went on our tear through the playoffs to the National Championship game.
I also agree with you on the fact of the biggest game being the NC, and 2nd being beating MU in Alliance.

The speed of the UMHB team and their physical play was better than W&J team. This game seemed to get out of hand pretty quickly, as it was 49-7 at the half. I believe that W&J just played a team that could punch them in the mouth, and then also run around them. As I have always told my friends, "SPEED KILLS". And W&J found that out Saturday.
Congrats to W&J on a great season, ggod luck next year.
Go Cru and get ready for a good game this weekend, see you guys this weekend!

I can tell you the fans at Mount not only respect the MHB program (even if they did CHEAT in 2004), we would DEFINITELY welcome an opportunity to meet again (only this year in the Stagg).
what do you mean by that comment?
