We have a confirmation on this that's good enough to go with so we're publishing it.

Who did you get confirmation from?

There's no names in any of these three stories besides the byline. I'm wondering who D3Hoops talked with that confirmed the story.

...Not that it really matters at this point as the aforementioned press conference is underway, most likely confirming all of these rumors.

Had to buy a 14 dollar white T for the game. >:( but its well worth it.  Kinda surprised that Marsh got co-poy, I guess i was thinking between Skemp and McKay.  Good luck to all Wisconsin teams except Lawrence never did like them ;)

Always felt the same way about Platteville women.  :o

Apparently you know as little about the current Platteville women as I do about Wheaton!

Their past reputations don't do the current crop justice...

I think that Platteville, Point and Whitewater will all move on in there first round games. All of those teams are battle tested and will not lose.

I hope that the Platteville band doesn't disappoint!!  Good luck in your travels. Enjoy the first round games

Thanks! We'll try not to suck too bad... ;D

Feel free to stop by and say hi!

Considering there are THREE WIAC teams in the NCAAs starting this weekend, it's pretty quiet around here.  If said fans are traveling, this is the day to post...

chirp, chirp, chirp...

I'm traveling to Wheaton as part of the UWP pep band. We're the only school in our 4-team pod thats bringing a band, so that's cool. Wheaton is on Spring Break though, so my hopes of chillin at a bar with some of the locals is dashed.

BTW, With Wheaton on Spring Break this week/weekend, does anyone else think that the timing may be bad for the host school, esp. if UWP plays them in the 2nd rd?

I think in the past, the NCAA has tried to avoid 1st round match ups of conference foes... there has been times when far west teams have played each other because the NCAA was too cheap.  I think a couple of years ago, CMS and Oxy played each other in the first round...but in this area, I don't think you'll see a WW v PL, WW v SP or PL v SP in the first round.  I don't even think you'll see that in the 2nd round.

WIAC matchups early in the tourney have happened... the most recent I can find is '98: Platteville played Oshkosh in the 2nd round.

Since then the NCAA has been splitting up the WIAC teams in the bracket so the earliest they would meet would be the Sectionals. Maybe they have learned their lesson, but who knows how the pairings will line up with 3 teams in instead of 1or 2!

["If we did not get in the NCAA tournament," Whitewater coach Pat Miller said, "I would probably resign and go coach in the NAIA."[/i]

As much as I hat Whitewater, I agree they should get in!
[/quote]

Agreed. Coming back from being down 17 in the 2nd half shows just how talented their offense is. They'll get in, as much as I'd like otherwise.

If Miller resigns think he'll have to work a scorer's table somewhere?   ::)  ;)

We'll have to play a whole lot better for 40 minutes to compete with Platteville Thursday.

Making the trip?

I really hope the students are not scared away by the $3 ticket price, as it seems maybe there were in Whitewater last night.  I guess I hope the community and the season ticket holders are not scared away as well.  I know our Tuesday game last year when they lost to Eau Claire wasn't greatly attended, but it's Whitewater.  Really hoping we sell it out again, but not thinking its realistic....

Hopefully Pvegas and the crew will prove me wrong!

Oh you know we're going to be there! After roadtrips to WW and StP, a big game at home again is a treat (and costs less  :) ). The student section officers are organizing an ORANGE OUT for tomm, so you should see a lot of ORANGE in the student section tomm!

If WW, PL & SP all end up 12-2 with PL beating SP on Sat., WW would be the number 3 seed based on two road losses while PL and SP would flip a coin to see who the top seed is...that or dunkel ratings come into play! lol

Not to get ahead of ourselves...but when and where might that commissioner coin flip take place? It's not clearly defined...

I can just see our student section showing up at the flip and chanting 'Tails never fails!'  :D

Wisconsin State Journal live blog of Whitewater-Platteville game tonight:

I'm going to the game (I'm posting right now from my phone on the fan bus  ;D ) but I'm looking forward to reading this afterward. They did a great job when they did the live blog for the first UWP-UWW game.

TVD's quotes in the local paper after the Platteville "game" are pretty good.

love the quotes in the article, esp. about how Plt 'got up in our grill' and calling Skemp a 'big ox'!  :D

The second tech happened during the middle of the free throws, while Shaw was in the process of shooting. I honestly missed that second call because i was watching Shaw and from my vantage point couldnt see both the WW bench and the opposite free throw line at the same time. My account is according to one of the Plt asst coaches immediately following the game.

Regarding the first one, however... we were yelling 'FAKER' (because Goodwin ended up on the floor a few times because of incidental or no contact and was pleading his case for the foul call).

If thats what goodwin said, i certainly could see how a ref could mistake that call....huh. I never thought about it that way!   :-\
