Carthage is good and tough this year. Carthage will represent the CCIW very well in national tournament. After all these tough CCIW games, it will be refreshing playing easier games versus shools from weaker conferences.

Another season of CCIW basketball has come and gone, and another year has passed without a national championship for Carthage College...
While National Championships are fine recruiting tools, Carthage may have something more desirable in attracting quality Men's Basketball players--

(unless, of course, a prospective student is between Carthage and Elmhurst...)

Elmhurst college is in the news: http://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/Elmhurst-College-to-Ask-About-Sexual-Orientation--128378348.html?
I hope the other CCIW schools do not start doing this (I know WC won't).

Thanks for the concern, everybody. While I do usually dial down my screen time on d3boards.com a bit during the holidays, this year it was more of a mental-health break than anything else.
My zealous support of NPU men's basketball over the years has put me in a position where I sometimes feel as though I'm living and dying by how the Vikings are playing ...
I can relate- I am easily fixated on the status of programs I have been affiliated with and geographically close franchises.
However, after some much-needed maturing, I now believe the standings/rankings ect. to be magnified because of their immediacy and there is something wonderful that will indeed matter much more in thousands of years from now...
Here is a recent quote from Shaq:
"I know I will play in the NBA next season," said O'Neal. "International? No. The good thing about me and my career is I came in, did it my way, did more than expected. For every athlete or every great person, there's a time when it has to end. When and if it ever ends it will be very graciously."
"We're going to have a big party. We're going to have a ceremony, and the next thing I'll be waiting for is the entrance into the place where your name will never be forgotten."
The "place where your name will never be forgotten" that he is referring to is, of course, is the NBA Hall of Fame.
While the NBA Hall of Fame is pretty legit- there is something far greater.
Jesus says: "However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." Luke 10:20.
Even if athletic accomplishments were remembered for generations to come, they would not be able to hold water as God's principle desire for our lives is solely based on the condition of our hearts.
My life has been improved through embracing God and as I strive to learn more about His character- I am becoming more satisfied. I encourage taking every thought captive and through deliberate time spent seeking truth come to terms with the offer God has given us.
Happy CCIW basket,
ball

The CCIW seems to be exceptionally deep this year. What other CCIW schools have the best chances of getting in?

I apologize for the belittlement. I agree that athletics should not be placed ahead of character and academics. Especially since basically all CCIW athletes go pro in something other than sports.
However, since I have been apart of this conference North Park has performed dismally across the board (except for a few descent soccer teams). For example last week at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships, NPU scored 4 points out of a 662 point total. That is not very many considering that the top 8 relays score, and each school is only allowed to enter one relay team per relay event...
As far as basketball goes-- I suppose it was nice to see that they were at least somewhat competitive this season.

Coincidentally, this order of schools is a preview of this years final CCIW football standings.![]()
Right... Because North Park is going to win a conference football game...
The scope of North Park's success in the CCIW is very limited:

Recruiting may be down for private schools in general, but it does not seem that way at Carthage. Even aside from Bosko's underclassmen, I would say that the quality of students and student-athletes coming to Carthage is on the rise. I have a sweet post-graduation plan in place and have truly enjoyed my 3.5 years here so far- It was certainly worth the extra buck for me.
Also, Carthage's track team will be competing at IWU tomorrow- unless Carthage and Augie go into 20 overtimes, it looks like we will all miss the game.

I tried accessing this board from China, but the entire discussion board was forbidden- The horror. I believe the Chinese government is trying to prevent its citizens from feeling joyful.
d3boards.com is banned in China, (or is it all of d3sports.com?!
Man, wait until Pat hears about this!
Only the discussion board is banned. D3hoops was accessable, but 'posting up' was "Page Forbidden".

Here is some trivia to start the new decade: Carthage men's basketball coach Bosko Djurickovic's CCIW winning percentage entering the 2009-10 season (.663, 224-114) is the sixth-best in the 63-year history of the league, and his 224 wins placed him first among active conference coaches.
Further, I have somehow been blessed with the highest Karma to Post ratio entering this post (4:10) on this thread.
In order to maintain this position I will quote the strange, but possibly prophetic, words of novice poster Steve D is the man
Come Wednesday Steve D will indeed win it all and the Redmen will humble the already oh-so-humble Thunder. Should my flagrant confidence cause my Kara/Post ratio to lessen so be. I will stand by the Redmen and go down as a posting martyr.

it looks like a rough day in michigan for the CCIW... however, wheaton looks way in worse shape than carthage. at least we only lost to ripon by 3. it's apparent that without brent caveman, wheaton are struggling. i anticipate steve d to win it all

Last night at the NPU-CC game I heard the student section chanting what sounded like "N-A-I-A" at North Park. Why would they chant that? Both NPU and CC are NCAA...

and everything is hot up in the most northern school in conference with Steve setting a school record, a lot of guys in double figures, and a boarder-line sweet half time show.
