Not to take anything away from Linfield who I'm sure is a terrific club, but it makes it a whole lot easier when you play the regional tournament at home. They should have never decided that a perennial Top 25 team should host a regional. The facilities are really nice at Linfield I know, but can you imagine how UT-Tyler would play if Regionals were at their home park? Linfield played very well and deserves a spot in the championsip, but I think things might have been easier for them.

I predict OU to pull a Hendrix this year and steam roll their way through the tournament.

OU over Trinity...convincingly
Millsaps over Rhodes....1 or 2 run close game
DePauw over Austin....Shaky pitching by Austin

OU over Austin (Austin Eliminated)....in extras after Austin ties it in the 9th
Millsaps over DePauw...Ten Run Rule
Trinity over Rhodes (Rhodes Eliminated)...Evan Jones goes nuts at the plate for at least 6 RBIs

OU over Millsaps...pitchers duel that ultimately is decided by a couple costly errors
Trinity over DePauw....Trinity comes back in the late innings

Trinity over Millsaps (Millsaps eliminated)....Trinity holds on in a slugfest

OU over Trinity (Trinity Eliminated)...boring game. OU takes lead early and never gives it up. Final 8-4.

OU SCAC Champions!

Correct me if my bracket isn't correct. I tried to go off what Bob_Lotts did.

The 10 percent forced reduction only hurts the student athletes in my opinion. They could have cut costs in areas that didn't rob players of their already fleeting college careers. For instance, a reconstruction of the schedule back to the old "home one year, away the next" would have been much better at saving money. It would have greatly reduced travel costs (buses cost about 5,000 per trip while you would only need to add one more day in a hotel). That money could have then been spent on umpires for an extra 2 home games, and 2 more day trip away games that would have only cost meal money.

Also, 4 games a year adds up to 16 missed games; THAT'S 40% OF A SEASON! There's definitely recruits who turned away from the SCAC and went elsewhere such as the ASC; That's tuition revenue going bye-bye.

Worst of all is that at least one of these schools who lobbied for the reduced schedule, Hendrix, refuses to even think about advertising revenue and won't allow sport specific donations. In other words, they actually have the ability to make up large amounts of their costs but instead take it out on the rest of the SCAC.

I have to agree with the previous post and say that there is no other word to describe this but stupid.

Season is only 4 months away...how are teams looking so far this fall? how did guys do this summer? What are your predictions? Can Hendrix really compete again?

From Log Cabin Democrat:

Now, we return to Daniel Ward. He entered the title game needing two hits to reach 200 for his career, something very few players have done in SCAC history. The coaches were initially worried about longterm damage to the hand, but he decided to play.

On his first two at-bats, he laid down sacrifice bunts, both of which led to runs and Hendrix building an early lead. On his final at-bat, he crushed a home run with the a cast on his finger and hand. Thus, he finished his SCAC career one hit shy of 200.

He sacrificed some individual glory to help his team win a trophy.

Maybe his hand will heal sufficiently over the next three weeks for him to get his 200th hit on the playoffs.

The fun thing to do will be to give him the ball from the NCAA Regionals if he does it!

Apparently, it wouldn't count towards entering the 200 hit club. Maybe someone can clear this up about Regionals not counting towards a career but thats what I heard.

Hendrix won a bad baseball game 10-9 against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps...tons of errors on each side. This makes them 1-2 so far on the California trip with the last game Wednesday against Pomona-Pitzer.

I can't believe I'm asking this question given their history but does a team that has given several ranked teams a serious run for their money (Millsaps only loss and 2-1 loss in 10 for an almost 2 game sweep, 10-8 against Chapman, 4-3 against Cal Lutheran, winning convincingly over Trinity and competitive games against UT-Tyler) possibly get ranked themselves. Yes, I'm talking about Hendrix getting some votes in the rankings. I doubt they will for the simple fact that they are below .500 and have a terrible past. But you could also make a serious argument based on the difficulty of their schedule this year.

I just want to know if you think its possible.

Hey I've been watching these boards for a while now and thought I'd join the action. I have my ties to Hendrix so thats mostly who I will be chatting about but I'm definitely up for all the discussions that go on. Now that my introduction is over with.

Hendrix lost tonight 9-5 against #7 in the nation UT-Tyler (who just beat Austin 14-2) in a game that was much closer than the score entails. Hendrix batters were hitting the ball on the screws all game but it seemed to always be right at someone (I believe there were 3 line drive, bang bang double plays). The Warriors defense had one bad 5 run inning that was the difference in the game. The impressive thing was that down 9-1 going into the ninth, Hendrix fought back for 4 runs off of Tyler's number 2.

Hendrix finishes up Tyler with an afternoon game on Thursday and then heads to California for their spring break to face #9 Chapman, #18 Cal Lutheran, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and Pomona-Pitzer.
