Congrats to Dave Filak.  I could only imagine the joy he felt when he found out.  I hope he makes it to the show and beats the Mets real soon!  I hope he represents the SUNYAC well.

I'd like to give a shoutout to the Plattsburgh softball program.

In only 12 years of existence, they've already been to the NCAA tournament twice, plus one World Series. That's how you build a program and make a real splash.

It's too bad baseball hasn't had a sniff of that success. Maybe Chip Cummings should have sunk his money in a real program ... the PSUC Softball Team!

Seriously TruthFinder, you have had it out for the SUNYAC and Plattburgh, in particular.

You better have been an All-American and won the national championship to talk about another team like that.

Truth went to Plattsburgh, he gave it away in some of his posts.  I'm still trying to figure out who he is though.

Well solid NY Regional and the best team appears to have won it.  As for the World Series... I think Hopkins is going to win it.  I think they're hands down better than every team left.  That being said anything can happened in baseball.  They're so deep so.  Seems they have two studs that can play every position.  Shenandoah can also swing it but if both teams win JHU and Shenandoah will face off in round 2.  I think Cortland can make some noise as well but I do think JHU and Shenandoah are both better. We'll find out!

A very close friend of mine is a JHU baseball alum that is still very close to the team.  I talked with him recently and he said their lineup was stacked.  Like multiple players with more than 10 homers stacked.  As for pitching they have 2 studs, both are sophmores but i think the rest of their staff is good but not great.  Oh, and a closer that is getting looked at.  He didn't say anything about their D.

So thats my mini-scouting report.  They do sound very deep and like they'll bee hard to beat.  I think cortland may be able to give them a run for their money but they'll need to bring their A game to do it.   Cortland is a solid team and i wouldn't be surprised if they won it all but i agree JHU has to be the favorite going into it.

I just hope one of those teams wins it.  JHU for my buddy or Cortland to represent the SUNYAC.

congrats to cortland.  As always, they had a great team this year. Now I just hope they represent the SUNYAC well.

And great job by SJF, too.

Good game by Oneanta!

And...How the hell does Cortland and Plattsburgh lose in the first round EVERY year!!!  Now plattsburgh plays cortland and Cortland shows its depth biggest advantage over the rest of the SUNYAC.  Its depth.

But heres hoping for an early exit for Cortland!

Oh Truth had to have been cut.  How else would he know who i was?

And to answer his question, Silky is right, i never won a SUNYAC playoff game.

here is my question.  What does that have to do with the current Plattsburgh baseball team?

Most of the players on the current team are young and HAVE won a playoff game and HAVE won 30 games in a season.  Thats more than i ever did in a season and sure more than you.  It is still a young team that will only get better.

Oh and silky, i don't believe in "due's."  I believe in making good pitches and bad pitches and thats about it.

I think what happened was skidmore didn't want to schedule 30 win Plattsburgh!  Skidmore didn't want to lose to a fellow at-large hopeful!!

Hmm.
Hmm.

And the skidmore coach must have  realized that Oneonta was going to use filak for the  conference games saturday so Skidmore won't see him, while he would have seen plattsburgh's - gasp!-  best pitchers!

It all makes too much sense!!1!

Plattsburgh's playing partner used to be SUNYIT. after they dropped out, anyone that plays Plattsburgh doesn't have another conference game that weekend.

wow, alot has happened here the past couple days.

As Kski has stated, location plays a big part in who Plattsburgh plays.  It is a long trip for them to go anywhere and nobody wants to go to "the chipper." U of R  is never gonna happen unless its in the regionals.  They are just to far.  Same for utica and a couple other schools mentioned. We played RPI every year at their place and they never came to us.  Would you continue to go there if you were coach doorey?

And as for being stuck in neutral, so then must everyone else.  They just finished second in the conference.  ... I don't even know what else to say.

You know what, i was gonna type a lot more but  there is no point. Most of what i was gonna say has already been stated.  Plattsburgh is a good, young team.  They have always been competitive in the conference and just need to take that step and win consistently in the playoffs.  What some people are trying to knock them for, i have no idea.

Pudge,

Couldnt agree more....lets focus on the big SUNYAC weekend ahead.

By the way, what is a crafty righty? Crafty righties are a dime a dozen and usually wind up being cut

Plattsburgh improved their record to 17-1 and extended their winning streak to 17 games.  hopefully they can keep the streak going.

Plattsburgh sweeps SUNY Old Westbury 5-4 and 3-1.  Plattsburgh came from behind and scored 2 in the last inning to take the lead in game 1.  O'leary started and pitched well but Tracy picked up the W in relief.

Tracy started game 2 and gave up 1 run on his way to a 2-0 record on the day.  The Old Westbury pitcher threw well also.  Plattsburgh scored three in the first on some miscues by Old Westbury, but was shut out the rest of the game.

well i guess let me be the first to say welcome!

there are alot of former players here with alot of good insight into the SUNYAC.

What team did you play for?  I ask because it would be nice to get some opinions from people around some of the other teams in the conference.

Well, Joe Nathan and Coach Doorey played together at Stony Brook together.  IIRC, they were even roommates.  However, I don't know if they roomed in the dorms or "just" on road trips.  Either way, thats pretty cool.  I heard Nathan meet with the Plattsburgh players to sign some autographs and take pictures with the players.  Must have been a nice experience for the Plattsburgh players.

I also heard Paul Molitor coached third for the twins team.  Again, pretty cool.

As far as the game itself, i heard the Cards lost it in the last inning.  I don't think any pitchers threw more than 2 innings and they got more hits as a team than the Twins team.
