Awards / Re: BB: 2009 All-Region Teams
May 29, 2009, 06:43:23 PM
Old Cat- part of the problem with these teams is when people don't look at what makes up the stats. Which teams did they throw against? Did they throw five innings versus a Cal Tech? I don't think Kitchens should have made it, even though he's one of the best out west, he missed too many starts. It's about winning. Who got the most wins vs the top 25 teams? Anyone beat any of the final eight? This can raise your ERA, just ask Holland and Booher.

infield dad, you're way off base on your comments about Chapman not having to compete for the talent like UTT does. It's a compliment to Coach T, and some of the other SoCal D3 coaches that they are able to get some of these players. Chapman does not have the depth they've enjoyed in the past, they just win when they have to. The ASC needs to quit making excuses about injuries, long season, etc. All the teams are banged up, and Chapman won the Regional with their All American Ace only throwing 2 innings. If he's ready for Appleton, that would be a huge lift for thr Panthers.

Congtatulations to the PP Sagehens on a great run, lots of outstanding players. If Cal Lu brings everyone back next year, they should be favored to win the SCIAC. Good year for the SCIAC, they'll be some players drafted this year.

LA Mike, nice run for Cal Lu, but pitching wasn't as strong as advertised. PP hammered 'em, but they may get a taste of their own medicine tonight. Final score prediction......12-8, and the winner is....................the Panthers, who else to better battle G Fox?

Ralph, excellent observations and very objective summary. West region is very tough, just have to prove it on the diamond.

Black cat, you're right, some pretty weak smack from Halles. That said, UTT's got to back up all the ASC crying that's been going on. They were lucky to beat the weakest team in the Regional yesterday, and have already thrown the B and B boys. Could be in line for some early exit Salt Lick BBQ if they don't swing the bats better.

Won't matter either way, it'll be a slugfest. Even if Kitchen's over the pectoral injury, his innings will be limited. But if they get to the ninth, maybe he can close the door. Can't underestimate Coach T.

Nice win for the SCIAC fifth place team Panthers. Win enough games to qualify and then win the close ones at the end. The Panthers have been doing it for years. First team to score 10 runs tonight wins! Can the Panthers sqeeze another few innings out of Kitchens or is he done? Lots of runs looking like the play tonight!

As proven Thursday, you can throw the stats out the window. UTT will be in a good old fashioned shootout. Better hope the bats are heating up, I'm taking the overs. Fox wins 10-6.

It's getting dark out West, the Tree huggers unplugged the connection!

No kidding, I thought it was my computer. JP, who you picking in the West?

Plus the fact Chapman can flat out hit. So can PP! Can Cal Lu make it a California sweep? I have an idea that will really mess up D-Nuts' Madness pool bracket!
#13
Big Poppa, you're right, I'll give 'em three ;) UTT's in big trouble.
#14
All of the bellyaching about the ASC getting shafted and UTT gets Crushed by a "mediocre" Pool pick. So much for us experts-I'm listening to Big Poppa from now on. D-Nut, how bad did this mess up everyone's Madness picks. Will it be a California sweep today?

Sagehen alum, just checked the Market, you should have gone up North, there's still time!
