That could be a huge loss for Whitewater. With Donovan's academic concerns and talk of Langer leaving the QB position is not in very good shape at Whitewater this year.

Pat
Do other football seasons have examples though? Maybe they are not noticed or overlooked because the majority of D3 athletes and college athletes in general do not play two sports therefore the student has the spring semester to regain eligibility. This allows said athlete to continue to play in the fall without ever being academically ineligible for a sport in the spring. Becasue they do not play multiple sports nobody knows.
I am not trying to stir things up. I will be looking into the academic rules of the NCAA and WIAC so I can be better informed. In my opinion if things such as this happen it takes away the oppurtunities for athletes who work hard to keep there grades up. I understand these things happen at Division one schools etc. etc. D3 schools are the chances for students who are athletes to be members of an athletic program where school comes first.
I am sure that the rules were followed and again I am not trying to stir things up or accuse anyone of any wrong doing. I understand why this would be a touchy subject. I do not think it should be because the rules are cut and dry and if they are followed no one can fear discipline.

I was reading wissports and there were some interesting comments regarding some other situations at UWW. I do not know if any of these are true but people outside of the school, as well as students are questioning the legitamacy of the academic requirements for the athletes.

The starting quarterback was mentioned for his academic issues and whether or not the timeline of his ineligibility makes sense. We know he did not play baseball this spring but was he eligible to continue to play football after the semester had ended when these grades were used to determine that he was not eligible for baseball? I believe exams were occuring around the time of the last playoff game or the national championship. Maybe he was not truly injured for the game he missed against stout and injury was used as an excuse so coaches and or administration did not have lingering questions about the academics of their starting quarterback as the team headed for the playoffs. There is just alot of pieces to this that have a nauseating potential to fit together.
I will admit I do not know the academic rules and I hope that these rumors are simply that, however if there is truth to any of this it could be a very big black eye for the school athletic programs. If I was an opponent that lost to WW in the playoffs I would be very curious. Who knows though had they played a player who was academically eligible for a player that was ineligible maybe they would have won the championship again. Maybe it all works out in the end.
