DuHawks are layin' the smack down on the Norse! 2-0 with 8 minutes to go. Don't come in the RockBowl with an attitude cause if you do you're going home with an L.

I believe Loras has worked out some of their "distractions" and will be playing much better going forward. Obviously at this point the wil have to win the Conference Tourney unless some crazy results start showing up the remainder of Conference play.

September 07, 2017, 08:31:49 AMQuote from: blue_jays on September 04, 2017, 12:42:13 PMIt means they stumbled against Aurora and came back to take yet another "W" against Wheaton, 6 in a row for good measure.Quote from: KICKIN95 on September 02, 2017, 10:27:03 PMAnd this means ... what exactly? Don't think it has made Loras a better team or Wheaton worse in terms of postseason results over the years. If this means Aurora is better than Wheaton, then this result sure won't help build Loras' resume this year. Since Wheaton's golden senior class from a couple years ago, the program has slid significantly and isn't even a conference favorite anymore. Sad times.
Well Loras may have stumbled a bit against Aurora, but they again dusted the all powerful Wheaton 2-1. Scored right out of the chute and added an insurance goal before coasting their way home. Wheaton never challenged and got a 90th minute non factor goal. This brings Loras to a 8-1-1 record against Wheaton. You will not find another team in the country that has dominated them I promise you that much.

Loras has absolutely dominated Wheaton in this "Derby" with the DuHawks compiling an extremely impressive 7-1-1 record against the Thunder. 6-0 in the "Rock Bowl" and 1-1-1 away.

Loras is again picked to be tops in the IIAC. The freshman you mentioned from last season will have the experience of playing a fair amount and they have a few incoming players that will make an immediate impact. Not going to mention who yet, I want to see how long it take for their names to be regulars on the board

Could one of you Iowa folks provide some insight on the history of the Grinnell program? Why are the Pioneers not in the IIAC? Have they ever had any truly competitive teams? Does the program get no help from admissions? Very curious as to why this program is not at least on par with Carleton, Macalester, GAC, STU, etc and at least the mid-tier of the IIAC.
Grinnell has been pretty close to the bottom for many years. It may be due to their unique format for classes, extremely low application to acceptance rate (24.1%) and out of the box classroom participation processes. The college pushes their students to explore as many classes as possible and offer no entry level or remedial courses (no, college algebra, trig, or pre-calc). In other words you don't go to Grinnell to play sports, you go to get a unique and challenging education.

December 03, 2016, 11:09:31 AMQuote from: Domino1195 on December 03, 2016, 11:06:29 AMI have no dog in the fight, but I watched that play several times and the Brandeis player clearly jumped over the back of the Calvin Player. the right call was made.
Spurs' Walker takes a foot to the face - standing fully erect - lucky not to have been blinded - cut on his eyebrow. Dangerous play - no card. Not going to make Chicago or Desai feel better - but poor refereeing sickens me. Just do your job.
Watching Stark's undercut on the Brandeis player again: yellow card foul on him - could have been worse. Will not be surprised to learn the Brandeis player is concussed. Yet the foul was called against Brandeis. Hoping officiating plays no part in today's final.

Been well d3fan. Very disappointed to see the committee pick UD over Loras and then for UD to dump their first match against a fairly weak Westminster side. Glad to see Luther get W in the tourney and for the Tommies to bust in to thw Final 4
Can't wait to go back next season when the Duhawks return to the finals!

Come on Amherst, you have a $2.2 Billion with a "B" endowment fund and you can't afford HD cameras for your soccer program? So far the match is a table tennis match, hopefully they settle down and start stringing togethe some nice passes.

I just don't see an experienced Loras team, coached by Rothert, losing to a Westminster side. No offense to Westminster, but they wouldn't place even top 5 in the IIAC (a 3-0 loss to Simpson proves my point).
I understand Dubuque received a red, but I don't recall a Rothert coached side every receiving a red during national tournament play (and we all know there have been a lot of games for them).
Plus, I would have loved a Loras - Chicago match-up!!!!
Loras and Chicago played a pre-season match this year and played to a 0-0 draw. Would have been a great match!

Nice pick by the committee to UD instead of Loras. 1st round exit to a mediocre at best Westminster side. Glad to see the Norse representing the IIAC well with a W over a solid St Norbert side.
Somebody had to say it!!
Wouldn't be my first post that people got butt hurt over.
