My hat is off (now that I'm away from the bright sunshine) to Trinity for the sweep this weekend.  The Tigers have a seriously good team that can rake the ball.  They were locked in Saturday.  Kyle Felix is the real deal with a bat in his hand.
The Warriors played well enough to give me lots of hope that we will grab back the broom in Conway a month from now.  Our freshmen are settling in and contributing on the mound, in the field and at the plate.  And our fielding will be better, especially since we don't have to dig the ball out of the snow anymore.
The Trinity-Millsaps series in a couple weeks should be fun, but I wont be surprised if each of them has a tough time this weekend.  <insert cliche here>

"It is a shame Lucero didnt make all tourney......his stats certainly deserved it."

I was surprised that none of the top three Trinity pitchers made the season All-Conference team.  I'm not sure who I would kick off the list, but combined they were 18-3 with a mid-3 ERA and more than 150 IP.

Frank,
Whoever takes over for Tyler Berry at catcher will have some large shoes to fill. He was a real competitor and an animal at blocking pitches.  Not to mention starting every game for Millsaps.  He took a beating behind the plate in the three games in Conway and still went 3-4, 4 rbi, a home run and double in the last game.

Made me wonder if Coach Page provided an ice bath seat on the bus.

Looks like a nice day in Tennessee for Title Day.  Good luck to the Tigers.....
Seriously, I hope both teams play well.  I wish I were there, but Derrel Palmer is a great substitute.

Hendrix will be a strong contender next year.  The Warriors were responsible for 3 of the 4 SCAC losses that Trinity suffered this year, including a comeback from 10 runs down in the 7th inning.  Just couldn't put enough of those good games together to make the tournament.

Thanks to all of you posting additional information on the games.  Seems like a lot of coaches earning their keep with good line-up decisions.

After the Trinity game this afternoon, I thought I heard Coach Scannell say that Panozzo wont be available this weekend.  Anyone know why?

An awesome team victory for Hendrix today.  Every starter had a hit or an RBI and the bullpen locked down TU for the final 6 innings.  All but one of the Warrior runs scored with 2 outs - finally got some of those good swings to find dirt and grass instead of leather.  Next time someone wants you to leave a baseball game early, go back to Feb 27, 2010 and think "Warrior magic" - it really is a 9 inning game.

I was on the Hendrix website and saw their baseball preview.  While they have 20 returning players, it was a little surprising to see that they only have 3 freshmen.  Makes me wonder if they have a roster limit and just didn't have room to recruit any more freshmen.  Here's the link to that Hendrix preview:

I would hope that HX is developing a great JV program.

A couple observations
1. You may remember that Hendrix was not that good for a while.  The '09 title has made it easier, but these freshmen were recruited in what we hopefully will refer to as the dark days.
2. HC has a large sophomore class.
3. It looks as though the class of '14 will have both quantity and quality.
4. Y'all are gonna be in a lot of trouble.

No JV program yet, just a good team and coaches, plenty of playing time and fingers crossed for the injury bug to stay away.

I was wondering what happened to Hendrix' Caleb Schallawitz, the FY pitcher from last season who threw a gem in the final game of the SCAC championships. He is not showing on the Warriors 2010 roster. Anyone know anything?

Caleb is at Central Baptist College - I hope he has a great season; a couple bumpy outings across town, but otherwise a real good 2nd season.
