Hopkins over Dickinson
Mules over G'burg
Ursinus over Juniata
Susquehanna over Moravian
F&M over McDaniel

I knew the whole conference was on a Bye last week so I didn't even bother coming on to look for pick 'ems. If another Bonus gets posted for this week I will make my pick.

Ursinus over McDaniel
Moravian over Dickinson
Gettysburg over Susquehanna

Not sure if I'm going to be able to make it back on for the bonus pick but I will try to check in tomorrow morning and make a pick once it's posted.

Susquehanna (I think Hopkins may just be that good)
Gettysburg
Ursinus
Hopkins (unfortunately I think it's going to be a rough home opener for the Hounds)

Muledaddy,

I would participate in the pick'em tournament, but don't have the time to administer the pick 'ems pool as I did last year. If there is enough interest I would certainly be interested.

Coach Scot Dapp ends his tenure at Moravian to become the new AD. Jeff Pukszyn, the team's defensive coordinator for more than the last decade will take over as Head Coach. I think this is a great move for the overall athletic department as a whole and the football team will also benefit with the opportunity for a fresh perspective at the head coaching position. It will be interesting to see who Coach Pukszyn appoints as the OC and if anything philosophically will change within the offense. Should be an interesting season to watch these things play out.

Moravian's AD Paul Moyer to McDaniel - Wonder who will fill the void at Moravian, will be interesting to see if they go externally to find a national candidate or if one of the current head coaches will show interest and get it. The internal ones I could see being a good fit are Dapp (Football), Byrne (Softball) and Spirk (Women's Basketball).

It seems that the Centennial Conference went 1-2 today

Wesley over Muhlenberg  53-14

Washington & Jefferson over Franklin & Marshall 54-41

Johns Hopkins over Lebanon Valley 44-14

Time to Congradulate the Victors for the win.

Correction Old Ends Moravian also won the Southeast bowl game today, I believe the final was 26-14. For some reason they were not on the D3football scoreboard or the centennial page. Any way congrats to the Hounds and Hopkins on the wins today and everyone else for very successful seasons...

I think it was about 2 years ago Ursinus could have gone to an EC game out in the Pittsburgh Area against Carnige Mellon, but decided against it because of cost.

I cannot think that cost would be a factor for a 2 hour ride up the PA Turnpike. One source of mine claims that they wanted the game at home. The field at Ursinus is Natural grass( or mud by seasons end) Wilkes is also grass but in better shape.

Even though Ursinus has decided not to play, Moravian, F & M and Johns Hopkins are 3 very good teams to represent the Conference.

Enjoy

I believe there is a certain point in the season that you have to apply to be accepted into an ECAC bowl. With Ursinus being undefeated most of the season, maybe they only wanted NCAA playoffs. I know there is some sort of application process for ECAC games and I think the cutoff for applying is somewhere around the middle of the season. Not too sure on specifics but I had heard that Ursinus did not apply for it this year.

Bubdad- 19-16 .543 win pct

I think the regular season pick 'ems championship should go to Muledaddy...while GoHop has the highest win pct, when i look back over games that muledaddy and GoHop both picked, Muledaddy has a higher win pct in those games. In commonly picked games Muledaddy picked 30 out of 38 games correct and GoHop picked 28 out of 38 games correct.

Either way it has been fun to pick the games all year and see what everyone thinks going into the games each week.

As for this past weekends games...What a game in Bethlehem, as the Hounds used a blocked extra point with about a minute left to beat the Mules. I was really surprised by this, because in my time playing in the CC, Muhlenberg was always one of the more sound teams on special teams and for them to have a game tying XPT blocked and a FG blocked earlier is somewhat unbelievable. It's amazing how Moravian turned around their season and they have been rewarded for that turnaround by received an ECAC birth at Wilkes on Saturday. Good Luck to the Mules at Wesley on Saturday, you certainly have a tall order but congratulations on the AQ and represent the CC to the best of your ability. Any other insight from other games would be appreciated. Only other game that stuck out to me really was Gettysburg beating F&M pretty handily...

CCfan27,

Sorry, brain-fart on my part. I meant Moravian over the Mules and that Moravian is possibly the best team at the moment. Moravian is a different team since they put in the new QB. Your observations about McDaniel are all correct. I picked Hopkins over McDaniel already. I should proof read before I post.

I should have seen the Hopkins pick later in the picks and realized this was just a mistake as well. Haha but yes I'd agree Moravian is playing at a very high level right now. You can't point to anything other than the change at QB as to why this team started clicking. Defense has been solid the whole year for the most part and just needed the ability to score points and off they went. Interesting mix of Seniors and underclassmen this year at various positions, so I will be curious to see how they replace seniors next year, particularly at the WR position where Sylvainus and Hersch have been playing since they were Freshmen. I am looking forward to the game in Bethlehem on Saturday and maybe the Hounds can send the Mules limping into the playoffs like the last time they came to Bethlehem with the playoff berth secured. Remember it like it was yesterday...

My picks:

McDaniel(might be the best team in the conference at the moment)
Ursinus
F&M
Hopkins
W&L

GoHop,

Just curious why you think McDaniel may be the best team in the conference at the moment. They've lost 3 of their last 4 games and and needed 3 OTs to beat Gettysburg who is also in the middle of the pack. Their only win by a substantial margin was against Susquehanna who has been quite bad this season.

This weeks games:

Muhlenberg at Moravian
Dickinson at Ursinus
Franklin & Marshall at Gettysburg
McDaniel at Johns Hopkins
Washington and Lee at Juniata
#15
Picks Summary:

First off, Congratulations to the Mules on locking up the AQ this weekend. I don't think many (if any) would have expected the Mules to be representing the CC in the playoffs at the beginning of the year. They have gotten solid play out of some young offensive players and have put together a strong defense as usual over there in Allentown.

Ccfan27 - 35-15 .700 win pct
Muledaddy - 36-13 .735 win pct
69mule - 36-14 .720 win pct
Oldends - 16-10 .615 win pct
GoHop - 25-9 .735 win pct
Reserved Seat - 24-9 .727 win pct

Did not submit picks this week
Bubdad 19-16 .543 win pct
Wearinthered 17-7 .708 win pct

Didn't see or listen to any games this weekend, if anyone has any insight on the games over the weekend that is always appreciated. I am truly impressed with the job Donnelly continues to do over at Muhlenberg. They truly do not stay down for long. They lost a ton of talent from 2008 squad and many were 3 and 4 year starters, so the down 2009 was at least expected. For them to win the conference so quickly after that great run they had is really a feather in the cap of Coach Donnelly. Hopefully my Hounds can give them another loss next weekend in Bethlehem, but good luck to them in the playoffs regardless.
