HSC85  Here is an artical that supports what you are saying and it's in all levels of the sport. In the NCAA tournament it was just crazy. Why are there rules if they are not going to be followed?/

I agree with Mr. Basketball. The style of play that the NCAA wanted in the tournament was very evident. At UMW both weekends it was so apparent that they were not going to call the rules of the game, Let them play. Well the rules are there for a reason and need to be called.

Players will play to the level officials allow. So if the rules are not going to be inforced they will break the rules. That is called street ball and should not be allowed in any NCAA game. THis is no way why UMW lost to GF in their last game but in the second half of the game the second foul of the half was called at about the 8:00 mark left in the game. Are you kidding me??? But I watched both weekends of play all the games and the officials calls were abysmal thru out the tournament. I was thinking it was just the CAC referees but I guess they told them all "Let them play" Not what everyone wants.

I agree and I think EVERYONE know's Munger not hurt GF is the Champions this year but I guess that is part of the game but if the officials are calling the game correctly the unfortunate fluke may of not happened., in my opinion

This is what I was posting about. Glad there are many who also think the same:

This is so true and I'm glad it's not just me seeing it this way. In the D-3 NCAA tournament it was the same if not worse. Something needs to be done as it takes away from the game.

Do you think Lett would have played as well if there was a 6'5" player out there guarding her?

I'm a fan of UMW not GF. I just know what I saw and in my opinion GF would have won.

The rules of the game are the rules of the game but for some reason NCAA does not want it called during the tournament. It was so obvious that the referees were told to"let them play" and not call anything. So the teams play all season with rules but then get to the tournament and it all changes.

What's really funny is when they call nothing one half but then start calling everything the other half or the best one is a team has 10 fouls called on them and the other team has 2 so at the end of the half they start calling all these fouls on the team with 2 so to catch it up and at the end the fouls are close.

My complaint is with the whole tournament officiating not just the championship game. I watched 6 games at UMW and it was really bad. I just thought it was the CAC officials as they are REALLY bad, and are always really bad. Get a few that do a good job but 80% is bad. I then saw Mr. Basketball's post and just thought I would chime in.

Do not know if Munger was hurt because the officials were told to "let them play" or not but do know the play gets rough as the referees "let them play" and not call the rules of the game.

NCAA could save $$$ just use 1 referee every game. You are only getting calls from 1 anyways so why pay the others to run the court with their whistles in their pockets :)

Vs. UMW GF played both m2m and zone. They pressed the whole game. They mix it up nicely.

Total class act by George Fox by going to their locker room and not doing their celebrating on the floor in front of UMW. I think they were suppose to cut the net down and they did not even do that. Thank you so much for showing sportsmanship and understanding the feelings of our players and mostly our seniors.

You do not see that everyday and how nice it was.

Rooting for GF to win it all!!

UMW gets its first loss of the season in the Elite 8 game Vs George Fox. 30-1. Great season for UMW.  Tonight they lost to a better team. GF shot the lights out and are only the 4th team to score 50 or more points Vs UMW

Jenna McRae and Katie Wimmer end up with the same total points over the 4 years - 1383

This was a year to remember, what a great run. These players and coaches should be VERY proud of what they have done this season

All the best to GF wish them well in the final four

Yes, good luck to both CAC teams ( UMW and York) it would be great if both get to the next round. Katie steps up big time for UMW with their win over Keuka.

Thanks YCP for your input. I did not say that the York players did not deserve their awards but I was very surprised that they got 4 players and UMW had just the 2. If UMW had 4 also I would be fine with that, just was thinking if your team beats every  team they play that they would have the better players on that team so should have more 1st/2nd team player then the teams you beat.
York has good players, Always a battle when we play them. And the 4 that were chosen deserve to be voted in BUT we beat you 3 times, I would think we have good players also, maybe even better players, so why did they not get recognized for their play also??
So what the coaches have said is UMW only has 2 good players, that won everything and beat everyone but out of those 2 players nether was better then a player who lead her team to a 14-13 season??

And Sparkman deserves the POY also.

I did not know coaches could only put 1 player up for POY. This might be why Jenna and Katie did not get it. They are so close in every aspect of their games and if one does something better then the other, the other does something better then them, that this could have split the vote for them and let Fisher get it.Had to be very hard for coach Applebury to pick between them.

Jenna and Katie both lose out because they do not have to play as much as other players on other teams. Another reason why UMW is so good, we have a bench this year!!! Just seems to me that some of these other players do not need to be in the games as long as they are and it's all about making sure they get their stats every night.

I'll take the "W" every night anyday!!

Oh well, just wanted to state my opinion about this and get it off my chest. UMW has had a great season and it has been so much fun to watch. I'm really glad York also got into the tournament, well deserved and I wish them all the best (unless we meet again :)

CAC awards announced and congrads to all that received these awards but I do not get how the 27-0 UMW team gets only 2 players on the first team but the second place 22-5 York team (that UMW beat 3 times ) get 2 players on First team and 2 players on second team?? And how Fisher from the 14-13 Marymount team makes POY?? I get the fact that they only look at stats but look deeper and see yes she scored 17.7 points per game but she also played 39.1 min. per game to do this and all her other stats also. Sparkman from York scored 16.3 PPG but played 35.4 min per game, even Hicks scored 12.8 but played 31.9 min per game.

McRae scored 12.8 but only played 27.3 min per game and Wimmer scored 12.7 PPG but only played 27.1 min per game. Do they not look at how many min. it takes a player to get that many points?? Fisher played 39 min a game so that means she is in there at the end of blow outs JUST to get more points. WHAT A BUNCH OF BS!!! Look at what players do in the time THEY PLAY not just the end result of being in games when it has been decided and they are just padding their stats.

Fisher: Points per min played-.45
Sparkman: points per min played-.46
Hicks: points per min played-.40
McRae: points per min played-.47
Wimmer: points per min played-.47

27-0!! , Mcrae & Wimmer should be Co- Players of the year for the CAC. Hands down
