Hi everyone, haven't been on in a while, law school would do that to a person, but I have noticed some interest in Dan Selway's overseas play...

Accordingly, here is a video link:

Big Loss by Oxy against Claremont!

Caught some of the Cal Lu/Chapman game, Cal Lu looked a bit sluggish, but dominate, Chapman hung in there but the offense could not produce.

I will be at the Whittier-Redlands game if anyone is in the area...

Go Bulldogs!

When I was  recruited by Cal Lu, Danny Jones was my host. We had to go off campus to party, because according to him, partying on campus was basically non-existent unless you wanted to be hassled by on campus safety.
Danny Jones used to party in Wisconsin. ::)

I thought that's why he left CLU to begin with: lack of nightlife on CLU's campus.

It could be that, or the loss in the final game of the year to Redlands scarred him for life  ;D

No I think it was because Coach Scott Squires left....

K4 has been very quiet this week.....  ::)

Everyone can make excuses and judgments based on what they see, hear, read, etc. so what else is there to say?

1.) Every college campus in America has rules and standards, and every college campus in America has kids that find a way to have a good time regardless. Whether they "break" the rules or not - if you can't have a good time on a college campus in this country then you are probably the boring one - don't blame it on the school.

I had the time of my life at Cal Lu - both on and off campus. It's not a college town by any stretch, and yes we had some neighbors that weren't fond of us, but we still found a way to make it a great and FUN experience. A majority of the smaller private schools in so cal are in similar communities with more affluent, older demographic and residential areas surrounding the campuses. Who cares? I have many memories, many nights with few memories for one reason or another - but needless to say the students that TRY to have a good time are successful in that.

How one student writer's opinion affects the view of an entire campus' social life confuses me. She probably wrote that in her dorm on a Saturday night.

2.) I'm not going to comment on the article or Paton's situation because it's a lose-lose for me to do so. Feel free to take your shots, as I would too. It's unfortunate and tough for the whole program and school to deal with, but it happened and consequences will be paid by all parties (CLU, the football program, etc.), not just Paton. But again, let's not lose sight that there are generations of Cal Lu football players (Including transfers like Coach Mac) that came through the program and represented it well. To throw a whole program (and to me that includes all alumni) under the bus because of situation involving one guy, is a stretch. Ask Dale Widolff  :D

When I was  recruited by Cal Lu, Danny Jones was my host. We had to go off campus to party, because according to him, partying on campus was basically non-existent unless you wanted to be hassled by on campus safety. Redlands is similar, but I thought more people could host parties on campus at Redlands, compared to Cal Lu.  Mind you Thousand Oaks is considered one of the safest cities in the U.S. I think only one homicide in the past 15 years? Anyways my point is you can party off campus in Thousand Oaks and still have a great time, I experienced that, but Redlands overall, has a more student friendly party/social scene...

Coach Maynard assured me that the Dogs are focused on the next game at hand, so even if we begin to discuss what the regional rankings mean, it doesn't matter at this point other than it allows us to continue to bicker about how wrong OB is  :) ...What matters is the overall record at the end of the season....

Either way, a diploma from Redlands compared to that of Chapman in the real world, means squat when you compare either on of those two diplomas to a Stanford, Berkley or dare I say Harvard grad. I tend to agree with RFB: "a diploma gets you in the door, but you still have to walk through it." Meaning personal merit is more valued then the stamp on the degree. I think we can all agree on that?

I hope they let Chapman in! Just so CrashDavisD3 can finally give up the "Chapman in SCIAC" campaign....lol

I will say, it was def. great having Redlands get the Oxy monkey off our backs, now we can all cheer for Oxy when they play Cal Lu! haha

I am sorry to hear that someone took your flagpole and did whatever it was, thats not the Redlands I know, but people can be stupid sometimes.

Also, no need to tell anyone to stfu Nihon, I mean, I understand your frustrated, but lets be adults about this.... I will say that I am pleased that we beat Oxy, and by beat I dont mean by a touchdown or two.....Either way its time for Redlands to move forward and worry about next week.

Although I do think Dan earned a spot as a QB coach...he definitely put the time in for it.... ;)

It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out for Cal Lu, Redlands, and Oxy,  the Rose Bowl rule is still in effect? Is it not?

Complete dominance, Redlands 41- Oxy 7, 7 years of frustrating loses will most likely end here today.

Bulldogs are rolling 19-0, at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Hopefully they wont take their foot off the gas pedal! Keep it going Dawgs!!!

Tough loss for the Bulldogs, turnovers were too costly in the end..hats off to the Who, however I think Redlands has an outside shot to go into the Playoffs. If Redlands beats Oxy, then Oxy beats CLU, assuming all teams win out, doesn't Redlands get into the playoffs via Rose Bowl rule?

OVERALL RECORDS
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps  2-0
Redlands  2-0
Cal Lutheran  1-1
Occidental 1-1
Whittier 1-1
La Verne  0-2
Pomona-Pitzer  0-2

And the other D3 SoCal Football Team
Chapman 0-2
Any suprises so far ?

-Oxy losing one early... not to mention the coaching situation - no one can say they saw that coming.
-CLU having 1 loss early, and NOT to Linfield??? ???
-Chapman 0-2 ... Surprised the heck out of me... well maybe not.  ;D

;)   Other than the multitude of Solute transfers no opponent staff has seen, no.

It surprises me that anyone is surprised by this. It was made apparent CLU's strategy in order to compete with the likes of Linfield as early as the first press release after the playoff loss last November, and was re-iterated countless times ... that in order for CLU to remain at the top of the SCIAC and compete nationally they needed more SIZE and guys that could come in and play right away (AKA qualified transfers).

The fact that we brought in the volume of transfers that we did might be surprising, as well as how to game plan for a team with an almost entirely new lineup ... but it was a strategy that was far from secret to any opponent.

I'm confident that the returning players and coaches have instilled the fire towards Redlands into the transfers, just as they did the need for revenge on Linfield. Excited to see it play out.

Also really looking forward to witnessing first hand the signature Redlands Pre-Game routine for 2010. They have had very strong routines in the past few seasons with exceptionally complicated barking effects, along with showing off muscle tone that is rarely seen at the collegiate level. I would anticipate numerous defensive specialists to have their shirts pulled up as a show of their off season ab work. Maybe they really mixed it up and threw in some Linebackers twirling batons, or possibly some of the gargantuan running backs will tap dance (They are known for strong choreography). Either way look for true "tough guy" entertainment out there on the field for early outs. they didn't get to the top of the warm-up rankings by holding back that is for sure...

We Bulldogs pride our offseason ab workout!
Especially our Yoga routines! Definitely something we all pride ourselves in.

In terms of our pre-game routine, don't knock it till you try it :)

Sadly I never had abs or choreography skills but maybe these guys can convince you Redlands is the place to be: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epRY3eZLQSc

If you are going to be out in Redlands early, I will most likely be tailgating at the dirt lot. I'll be glad to meet any former players and parents to discuss why a repeat of 2006 in the Runner is going to happen  ;)

D.o.c. - good point... I believe it has to be a venue approved by the NCAA for D3 football competition. Not positive but think it would be played at an accepted SCIAC stadium, with the closest being oxy?? Correct me if I'm wrong, that would be my guess.

Unfortunately CLU has to actually prove that they can earn this starting with a tough one at Redlands in 2 weeks. Until they run the table - they can consider themselves to not be playing anywhere in the first round, much less at "home"...

Time to step up and make it happen. When was the last time a Sciac team hosted a playoff game if ever?? Interesting.

Oxy vs. Willamette, 2005?
I was in the stands with a former Oxy coach, Bob Gleason, who was trying to get me to go to Oxy.
It was the year Oxy went real deep into the playoffs.

Sorry I didn't want to misrepresent the good ole U of R...

What happened Cal Lu? Sad day... Hopefully the Dogs can get a win for the SCIAC!

Private Schools have many advantages over a public schools, however total cost of attending will probably not ever be in that category of "advantages."

For $80, I would have suspended maybe some pay, or maybe a game, but I think the "harsh sentence" by the school was more precautionary.

Don't remind me of UCLA's woes....I am going to see them playing against the University of Arizona at the Rose Bowl...although when I went to the USC game, Virginia's defensive line was not big at all. I thought Mount Union's Dline and some past SCIAC DLines would give USC's oline a run for their money...

Speaking of dominating....I will be tailgating at the Redlands/Whitworth game this weekend, if anyone is interested...Im trying to bring my dish and tv to watch some games while studying some "Poetic Law" (I am a Whittier Law Student)
There will be In-N-Out as well as Hanger 24 Brewery Beer for sale! So let me know...

Today's "Bold Prediction"- Selway will be able to play all four quarters.
Go Dogs!
