Whoa!  It sounds like someone is feeling a little stressed out because of unfortunate circumstances related to Sandy.  It must be a mess around there.

I do not know 2xfaux but I have read his comments over the last several years and have to believe that there was no ill intent in his comment.

Should be a good soccer weekend.  Enjoy!

Oops.. I take the blame for hijacking this thread.  Sorry!  I'm from Amherst, follow both men's and women's soccer, and love D3!  Got carried away there.  Won't happen again... :)

Flying Weasel, I agree with your comments and appreciate the tone with which you said them.  "Fair and balanced reporting".   :)  I have to say that over the years I have seen the same type of comments made about the women's Nescac teams.

A few years ago the Final Four on the ladies side consisted of Messiah, William Smith, Wheaton, and Williams.  In the semi-finals Wheaton beat Williams 3-1, and Messiah beat William Smith 3-0.  The final was a blow-out with Messiah beating Wheaton 5-0.  Afterwards there were posts (on a different site) about how Wheaton had such a tough game in the semi against Williams that they were worn out when it came time for the final and thus lost.  No credit to Messiah for being the better team that tournament.  :-\

Come to think of it, the Amherst men were in that Final Four and it was also the year that Messiah won in a shootout with their backup goalie in the net.  That was amazing!

Ja, I have heard that there is a real cohesiveness on the Messiah team.  Is it as good as they say?  Over the years it looks as though they have some superstars and then plenty of good players.  Is is really "One in heart and mind"?   From the outside, it looks like a great program.

Women's soccer / All Americans

Can someone tell me the process for becoming an All American?  Are the athletes nominated by AD's?  Coaches?  Does a team that does well have more nominations?  Just curious about the process...

Definitely agree that charging to just listen to a game is lame.  When one considers the caliber of school Williams is, you would think they could at a minimum broadcast their games for free.

Why no re-match?  After watching Messiah's first two games, I think they need a tougher team to see how they are really doing.  Even though they scored a lot of goals they looked shaky to me.

Just wondering why 2xfaux doesn't like Messiah at #1.  Who do you think should be there?

Does anyone know if there will be a preview of the women's teams?

I agree that it was a very good game.... a nail biter for all the fans.  JHU appeared to be bigger than Messiah overall and played hard.  It was a fast-paced game and both teams left it all on the field.  It's hard to imagine that there will be a more exciting game in Texas.

True, true. :D  And the game was changed from the original 1:30 slot to the 11:00am slot.

I have no complaints.  It looks like it is going to be great weather for soccer this weekend.

Let the games begin!

Definitely no love for the Falcons.  Not only do they have to travel, they are playing the later game.  Having a perfect season thus far doesn't seem to have earned them any advantage.

Bracket is out:

Williams is the only NESCAC representative, ouch.  Ephs face a very tough road ahead with, it seems, no home games and some tough teams in their quarter of the bracket.  But at least they won't have the pressure this year of being an overwhelming favorite to make it to the Final Four.

Just wondering who you would consider to be the tough teams in their quarter to get past...

Surely there were ways to give the North Park Bench quality playing time without running up the score to this extent.  The stats show that the starters scored 13 of the 20 goals.  It must have been apparent almost immediately that this was a mismatch.  Why not put the bench in much earlier?  Why not require a certain number of passes before shooting?  Disappointing to see this kind of result.  Maybe North Park needs to rethink things.
