Well Howard-Payne is looking for a new head coach.

Interesting fact that I read today... Norman Joseph has never won a homecoming game while @ MC.

Eric Drennan reports in the Temple Daily Telegram that the coach from Mississippi College had agreed last year, when UMHB scheduled its game at 1:00 p.m., to play Saturday's game at 1:00 p.m.  It seems the MC coach is going back on his word and has scheduled the game time for 6:00 p.m.  Unnecessary late night long bus ride home for UMHB!  I expect the players to be a bit upset and will vent their anger on the Chocktaws.  Look for UMHB to schedule MC as its homecoming game next year and play at 6:00 p.m.!
Another big test for the Crusaders, among more to come in a much more balanced conference!

LOL @ the things coaches do to attempt to get into the other teams heads. Be courteous and continue having the games at 1:00 pm like usual. No sense in this. Those busrides are long and tiring anyways...

I'm shocked that no one has mentioned Mississippi College's win over Hardin-Simmons.

Why is ETBU getting so much hype??? Have I missed something?  ???

Pat had an interesting theory on his FB wall:

Take these four
Add Huntingdon
Add Maryville
Add Berry

Bang, you have a new conference with a lot fewer travel headaches.  And if you throw in provisional Georgetown (Ky) you might even be able to get Pool A bids in many sports down the road ...

What I remember (vaguely,  it's been years since I looked) was that Huntingdon and MV's academics weren't quite up to SCAC standards.   If this is still the case, does travel hassle trump potential academic/athletic issues?

What blows my mind is "well, travel is a huge concern" followed by "but we don't want to do divisional play."  That's a giant WTF.

Could Mississippi College possibly be added to that list? It would make perfect geographical sense.

And Mississippi College is not???  ???

I heard today from some friends at West Alabama that MC will be playing West Alabama in 2012 and 2013.

Do you guys just sit around all day singing Kumbaya?  Have some real discussion on why your team is really the team to beat........You guys just dont have any idea of what is going on in Marshall Texas.........There is a new sheriff in town boys......
Thats because UMHB is ALWAYS the team to beat.

As I look around, I see the guys from Belton are still wearing the "Sheriff's rings".

New on the board..

I wanted to ask why does Sul Ross struggle so much?  Is it because of their location? or something else?  Thanks.

In my opinion, its got to be the location.

UMHB & HSU don't rebuild, they reload. There is a reason they have dominated the ASC. As for the other schools, every once in a while you willl have a school sneak in and win a share of the title. IMO, outside of UMHB or HSU its hard for any other team to win it outright because any team can beat each other on any given Saturday. I am disappointed to see McMurray go. I think that they would have made some noise in the next few years, but they will do fine in D2. It's only February, so who knows? Maybe a school will have a year like ETBU did in 2003 or like MC in 2009.

What conference will McMurry be joining?

And as of someone replacing them in the ASC, isn't UNO adding football?
UNO is considering going to D-2 and not adding football, now.

I actually just read that while on the D2 Gulf South boards.
