Midwest-

IWU beat Augie 7-0 and Wheaton beat them with a TD pass with 18 seconds left. I wouldn't call either of those "decisive" .

USee-

I would call the IWU win over Augie decisive, primarily because it got the Titans back on track after a terrible loss to Millikin.  The IWU offense may have been held in check most of the game, but the IWU defense played superbly, forcing 3 and outs or turnovers every time Augie threatened to score.  I would call the win decisive solely because of the fact that it got the Titans defense and team as a whole into a rhythm, not because of the score.

Congrats to the Titans on the win.  Wheaton played a tough, classy game as they always do, and I give them credit for that.

Hate to say "I told you so", but it feels so good.  But in all seriousness, NCC played a heckuva game.  The fact that they still were right with the Titans with their backup QB in is a testament to their depth and quality of coaching.  My hat's off to my Titans, but I pick it up, put it back on, and tip it to the Cardinals.

as long as you didn't drop your hat in mud.. ..  but thats a good way to ruin a great hat.  try to not drop it again.

in all seriousness though ---- what are everyone's thoughts on the Wheaton/IWU tilt?

Watching the Titans sprint across the field and make a dogpile in the end zone after the winning TD pass was awesome enough to make me care less about the condition of my hat.  A hat is nothing compared to a big win over a good team when the Titans' playoff hopes were on the line.

The games Kraig Ladd has been healthy the entire game...

vs Hope - 232 yards, 1 TD (IWU 28 points)
@ Alma - 199 yards, 5 TD (IWU 43 points)
vs Aurora - 244 yards, 3 TD (IWU 52 points)
@ Carthage - 283 yards, 4 TD (IWU 42 points)
vs North Central - 340 yards, 3 TD, 1 TD rushing (IWU 28 points)

The game he got injured in and two he missed...

vs Millikin (played less than half of game) - 107 yards, 0 TD (IWU 13 points)
@ Augustana, DNP (IWU 7 points)
@ Elmhurst, DNP (IWU 20 points)

The Titans are a different team offensively with him in there.

I think the Titans will surprise a lot of people on Saturday...including the Cardinals.  The IWU receiving corps will benefit greatly from Ladd's return, and the change of pace offense that Rooney directs for a few series every game should keep the Cards on their heels.  No doubt that NCC is a well-established, sound team, but they still have to play the game.  I stick by my prediction, a very competitive game: IWU 28, NCC 24.

I think the TITANS will give NCC more than they can handle, especially with the defensive injuries the Cards have sustained...But I do give them credit for absorbing such losses as Wenger and Sulo and not missing a beat.  The key to the game for the Titans, in my mind, is whether or not they can run the ball on the Cards...if they can, the IWU offense should put up at least 35 points.  Taking into account unforeseen problems for the Titan O, and coupled with a stout defensive effort, my prediction is IWU 28, NCC 24.
