Well is come down to 2 games left for my beloved BENGALS. Lost a close 1 vs Cortland last Tuesday. Watching Weeks and Grunder ( the 2 best big men in the league) was a pleasure to watch. Grunder has to be 1 of the quicker big men ever ever scene  Hopefully this Friday we can slow him down . Gotta believe that Weekes ab grunder are in the running for Allsunyac  they are the only 2 players listed in the top 5 in scoring and rebounding (conference only stats>

On a side not, now having the Magicman on these boards is different  It just aint the same  Magicman...we miss you  Ge well!!


BENGALS FOR LIFE!!!

Can't say that I expected this but my Bengals have gone 3-1 in the last 4 games. O T loss to Oneonta is the only blemish during this Feb run. 2 of the 3 came vs " potential " playoff teams ( Geneseo and New Paltz)

It was good to see my guys survive a buzzer beating 3 by the blue devils. 3rd OT game and first win. Hope to finish strong. Especially since every player is eligible to return next year
No post season is possibly be. Hopefully pride will be the  #1 impetus for the remains 3 games

Finally a YAC win (vs Plattsburgh.) Hopefully my Bengals can duplicate that feat tomorrow at Plattsburgh
The SUNYAC schedule is gonna be a grind for my Bengals. 5 games , Potsdam, Plattsburgh, then the reverse and make up game vs Cortland (1/25). 5 games in 7 days . Whew. Hope my guys put the work in this weekend

Definitely a down year , so far. Started out with 17 players. Lost 3 during holiday and a total of 5 with Covid over 1st weeks of 2022 ( dressed 8 for U of Rochester). Then leading scorer Sheldon Adams was dismissed a day before Oswego game

Having 3 games in 4 days last week ( Oswego, New Paltz and Oneonta) and 4 games this week ( Plattsburgh Monday, Potsdam Tuesday then same 2 teams at their place Thursday and Friday) will be a tough test. For anyone

Their A on the hole, in my opinion, is head coach Fajri Ansari.  If anyone can turn them around, he can.

Damn. Weekend contests vs Potsdam and Plattsburgh postponed. 10 inches of snow today was the culprit. Covid didn't help either.  Games are supposed to be rescheduled

Rough day for my Bengals. Day started with the results from a mandatory Covid test. 6 positive , plus another 3 dismissed for various reasons. Started game with 8 players total   .  The guys hung in their for a half but eventually the #37 ranked Yellow Jackets prevailed

Nothing left but SUNYAC games left   Not sure how long the positive players have to stay out. Hoping it's 5 days instead of 10. Next 3 are at home ( Potsdam, Plattsburgh and Oswego) so here's to hoping home helps!

Congrats on the win Scooterman!

Don't want to rain in the SUNYAC parade but reliable sources are saying daily testing , among other things, will be the standard 1/1. I'm feeling a repeat of last year coming

So this is what a win feels like! Today's  84-75 victory over( Div 2) Dyouville took a long time in coming.  Again Sheldon Adams comes through with 31 points. Newcomer Daron Hughey chipped in with a season best 26 points ( on 11 of 14) shooting. Missing Phil Weeks, who has been on a rebounding tear, was cause for some some concern , but my Bengals toughed it up..

Brockport is 4 days away. A win vs them would be just what the dr. order!

Momma said there would be days like  this.  After getting down 16 points at halftime, versus good Oswego squad, and then scoring point for point versus them in second (half 38 - 38).  I felt that today's game vs Geneseo was the game to get us back on track.  We were soooo close.


With less than 2 seconds left we were up by 2 but as fate would have it, the Knights tie the game at buzzer.  On to overtime, which was nip and tuck. Down by 1  with less than 9 seconds left, Sheldon Adams misses on a jumper but Marquell gets the rebound puts it back up and gets fouled, with .5 seconds left. Needing 1 to tie and 2 to win, we came up empty at the foul line. To be honest, as sad as I was for losing, my heart went out to Marquel. He is easily 1 of the 2 nicest and compassionate players on the team.  Needless to say ....we lost!

We have 2 days to get ready for Div 2 Dyouville  , then Brockport after that. With 7 freshman and 4 sophomores, we've got some good building blocks to work with. With Phil Weeks , who's averaging 16.8 boards a game ( in 6 games) and Sheldon Adams who's averaging 25 points a game, we have a couple of cornerstones to build on. Hopefully Aaron Davis will continue his strong play at the point. I'm also encouraged by how some of the newcomers are coming along . They deserved to win this one but no one is giving out victories because a team " deserves" to win

Most of you know I'm a diehard Bengals fan, and this year is not any different

Well, it's not the start we had hoped for at Buff State. But I'm encouraged how these young guys have responded .  12 new players means guys are gonna have to get used to working with each other  I've been surprised with some of the results and encouraged. 1st 4 games were vs quality opponents ( John Carrol, Ohio Northern, Nazareth college and , last night , St John Fisher.  We were competitive in each 1. Just couldn't hold on

Looks like our leading scorer , from last year , Sheldon Adams , is ready for bigger and better things. Averaged over 30 pts in the last 3 games, plus garnered the most recent POW award.  Biggest surprise is new comer Phil Weeks   21 rebound against  Ohio Nothern and 28 boards vs John Carrol . In my 14 years at Buff state , I've never seen that kind of performance. From us or our opponents. His efforts earned him a spot on D3 Team of the week.  If we keep getting that kind production from them, good guard play from Aaron Davis and contributions from a slew of new folks, we should be alright

I guess with Oswego coming up next, we will see real soon, what we are made of .!!
