I am really excited for today's CLU V.S. Linfield game and am looking forward to a defensive slug fest with CLU winning 14-10.
Heat will be a factor with a 12:30 start time.  Ocean breeze won't pick up till 3.
The pre game beer garden will be a oasis of goodness.  (i am still in shock that even exists)
I'll be there for a bit before the kick off, come on by.

Go Kingsmen!!!!

Hint for the oregon forest dwellers:  if you need a break from the heat go into the a/c in the art museum by the clock tower, you can still see the game from about the twenty yard line into the south end zone.

For any Cal Lu folks heading up:  You might want to take a beeline to the wine country rather than plan to hang around downtown Portland.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am not making the trip up due to, the horror, soccer games.
anyone know where I can find the streaming link for the Linfield V.S. CLU game?
the Linfield athletic website says it will be streamed live, for free, but no link is posted as yet.

Enjoy the Games tomorrow.

Go Kingsmen!!!!! Go Dawgs!!!!

Speaking of D1, looking at a SI in a dentist office recently I looked through the preseason top 25 teams and only one, TCU, had purple in the uni color scheme.

A Random fact about TCU and purple uniforms,  Current TCU head coach Garry Pattterson was the defensive coordinator at Cal Lutheran under Head Coach Bob Shoup in the late 80's.

Third time should be a charm for the Kingsmen against Linfield.

Enjoy the games.

Dear baby Jesus,

Please send Redlands to play against CLU in the first round of the play offs!
Protect both teams starters from injury this saturday, so both teams are healthy
and at full potential when they meet.  I ask a plague of fumbles and
interceptions rain down on the panthers and tigers.

I ask You to do this lord, all knowing one,
So we can see a great play off football game, with both teams at their full potential
and Selfishly
so that i may not hear any bulldogs whining for at least six months.

Amen.

GO KINGSMEN!

CLU homecoming ramblings.

The light poles are placed oddly, they should be behind the seating instead of in the middle of it.(at least there is a press box in this one) they also under built the seating(2200+1000 temp),should have built it for 4k.Oh well its not perfect but it really is nice, the whole sports complex really came together.

You are right the new William Rolland stadium is nice but not perfect.  The playing field is aligned north to south and the home stands face directly into the sun. combined with 90 plus temps on homecoming the fans were wilting from the heat.  If visitor side stands are built I would make them the home side so the fans and team are not staring into the sun during day games.

Another aspect of the field being aligned north to south is the wind.  Unless a game is played in a rainstorm prevailing afternoon breezes will be a cross wind.  In Mt. Clef the passing attack and special teams kicks would be either into the wind or with the wind at your back.  Not crying sour grapes, just noting the difference.

It was surreal to be in the art gallery (enjoying the air conditioning and bronze statues) and watch CLU score in the south end zone in the second half.

All in all, a great homecoming.  the game was a blow out and it was good to see old friends.

Go Kingsmen!!!

PS.  If you come late to a home game at the new stadium bring a folding chair, you can set it up behind the north endzone.

enjoy ur day!

Cal Lu joined the SCIAC in 1992. The head to head record is below.

Redlands 13 Wins
Cal Lu 6 Wins

From 1992-2003 Redlands won 11/12. Since then Cal Lu has won 5/7. The game this weekend is going to be a good one.

The rivalry started in 91 when redlands lost 24-14 to cal lutheran.

Must u pad ur win loss record the same way u over pad ur pants?

We may have knocked u out of the play offs again. . . Makes my evil heart grow a little everytime.   ;)

Dear Kingsmen,

You guys fooled me on Saturday.  I thought we were going to get spanked.  What I saw in the first half was a disappointment.  I watched 11 penalties and an o-line trying to figure out how to pick up the blitz.  Run blocking was ok.   It was 28-7 when I left.  I had seen this movie before and had seen enough of the Lynnfield track meet.  I was thirsty, my head hurt and I remembered this beverage called beer that makes disappointments fade, women good looking and me witty.

So I bailed out, pulled the rip cord, exited stage right.  I had other things to do, like mow the lawn.

I figured I would not miss anything.  DOH!!!!  I was wrong.

Good job Kingsmen!

You have got game after all.

i look forward to the rest of the season.

(note:  been a while and i posted this in the wrong place)

Whos whoop it up in Who-ville and happiness shines in the Conejo Valley.

Congrats to the Cal Lutheran football team for a championship season.  Whew!!!

Kingsmen4, some things never change.  While being recruited I also was told to expect a new stadium during my career, in 1986 by then head coach Bob Shoup.  It was supposedly to be carved into the hillside of Mt. Clef.  LMAO.

Oxy Bob:  is it true that a basketball Obama touched while at oxy has been enshrined in his old dorm room?

Also if you see a middle aged man holding his temples and screaming madly @ the Lindfield V.S. Clu game it will be me hoping the spruce goose will fly.
