i know this might be old news but i still havent heard what happen to hornung from Aurora U.  can anyone fill me in?  will he return next year?

who cares about concordia illinois.  if they beat (which is highy unlikely) aurora this year so be it.  aurora only has 2 wins.

the real matchup is for the conference title and everyone else can worry about next season.  peace

aurora dominated everyone in 98, 99 too and dont forget 2000.  as far as BU...  if my story is correct when AU first brought back football in 1986 the former IBC  ( illinois benedictine college)  beat AU like 60 to 0 which pissed the spartans off and every since then pretty much domination.  so BU has beat AU at least once.  hopefully never again but i know coop and im sure hes got them boys at BU ready.  does anyone know what happen to Hornung?  is he coming back next year?  peace and good luck to AU and coach coop.

i would have to agree on Salter being a good prospect.  he is an all around athlete as well as pitcher.  i have played basketball against him yet i havent seen him throw.  i thought he signed last year but i guess i was wrong.  congrats to the spartans for being able to have him pitch for another year.

also... the 2000 regional, aurora was on the losing end of like a 12 - 2 defeat.  losing pitcher was paddock, one of them days.  all in all its usually a great great game though.

new year... gooo spartans

we beat the redmen in 98 and 99 on the way to the series but i was a freshmen when we lost to carthage in 1997.  we lost our first game then battled back.  we beat carthage in the first championship game to force the "if necessary"  game.  that game went like 11 or 12 innings.  i had threw a complete game the night before and came in to end the second game.  first inning went ok then braun hit that ball to center.  we actually led late in the game.  thats why it was a heartbreaker.  anyways.  i always remember the games against the redmen.  it was like big time baseball when we met.  hopefully the tradition can continue.

as far as where aurora plays.  last year they played mostly at oswego high school and some games at kane county cougar stadium.  the old snell field is now a parking lot.  the money has been there for a nice stadium but the trouble is finding a location.

does anyone have a clue when aurora is gonna built a baseball stadium?  its been in the works for ten years now.  i just wonder if they can keep up the success without a true home field.

1997 was a heartbreaker.  unfortunately i left one up to glen braun and that was it.  coming in after pitchin 9 the day before was tough but who wouldnt want the ball against the redmen.  some very good hitters carthage had throughout the years.  especially braun and shorty flees.  two very tough lefties.  my last college win was against carthage.  not a pretty one but they were ranked number one.  151 pitches.  wheww.  great rivalry though.

does anyone know the all time carthage vs. aurora record?  just interested in what it might be.

bodhi5 - pitcher of the year is obviously a tremendous accomplishment but it not the tell all criteria for judging talent.  there are too many variables to copare and contrast.

big poppa - yes there were some "me's" in my statement.  i did mention the other pitchers who i played with that i thought were close to as talented as paddock also.  someone said no one came close to being as talented and that is not true.  just wanted to keep it real.  no one can steal what has already been done.

uh i played with paddock and some very talented pitchers at aurora.  there were a number of guys as talented as josh.  i myself signed and played with the rangers and had a good rookie year but i screwed it up.  then you got matt deegan who holds the wins record at au with myself.  steve fike had a dominant year like 11 - 1, jeff ziobro was pretty dominant...  there are a list of great pitchers but those are the guys i played with personally.  yes paddock had that great year which amazed me but to say that no one comes close is outright wrong.  just had to chime in folks.  peace

I was thinking of a more recent player than paddock, he was really good also, paddockhad the lowest era in the nation for most of that season.

To all of the IBFC guys I am not saying anything against the conference as you guys are good and can play a tough game (I saw that yesterday) I was just saying that the CCIW is one of the toughest conferences in DIII, and it is going to send a rep to the playoffs that is probably better than the IBFC.

I dont think anyone argues about the cciw being a tougher conference than the illini badger.  i played for aurora 2 years with an independent schedule and two years in the ibc.  we went 14 and 0 thru the ibc those two years and got screwed on an at large bid which would of allowed for a great matchup in 1999 against augie.  we had the a top 5 rush defense and all kinds of weapons on offense.  i forget who got in insted of us but i believe that  the ibc would of beat the cciw that year.  every year at this time it drives me nuts that we didnt get that opportunity.  so i had to bring it up.  that sucks about lakelands qb being hurt.  i thought that this year would of been comparable to 1999 and it would of been a great game.  of course 1999 never happened.  would of could of should of.  this is about illinois football verse ohio now.  i am tired of mount union so i hope augie opens up a can on their azz.
