I apologize for the belittlement. I agree that athletics should not be placed ahead of character and academics. Especially since basically all CCIW athletes go pro in something other than sports.

However, since I have been apart of this conference North Park has performed dismally across the board (except for a few descent soccer teams). For example last week at the CCIW Indoor Track and Field Championships, NPU scored 4 points out of a 662 point total. That is not very many considering that the top 8 relays score, and each school is only allowed to enter one relay team per relay event...

As far as basketball goes-- I suppose it was nice to see that they were at least somewhat competitive this season.

there is always an exception to the rule.  and his name is steve. but fortunately for Carthage fans- steve d will probably wait until his eligibility expires before entering the draft.

Coincidentally, this order of schools is a preview of this years final CCIW football standings.  ;D ;)

Right... Because North Park is going to win a conference football game...

The scope of North Park's success in the CCIW is very limited:

go to h....

go directly to h....

do not pass go and do not collect $200.00

dgp

not funny

speaking of monopoly...

north park would be lower than Mediterranean avenue, as they are not close to a monopoly on anything, except for women's rowing. at least the vikings have that going for them. boats.

Recruiting may be down for private schools in general, but it does not seem that way at Carthage. Even aside from Bosko's underclassmen, I would say that the quality of students and student-athletes coming to Carthage is on the rise. I have a sweet post-graduation plan in place and have truly enjoyed my 3.5 years here so far- It was certainly worth the extra buck for me.

Also, Carthage's track team will be competing at IWU tomorrow- unless Carthage and Augie go into 20 overtimes, it looks like we will all miss the game.

i hear carthage has quite the cheering section

Everyone rest assured that I now acknowledge having seen a good offensive scoring game by Steve D.  Wheaton tried, but couldn't handle him.

don't worry, not many people CAN actually handle him.

I watched the Wheaton/Carthage video stream.  Steve Djurickovic's performance tonight was one of the best I've ever seen in a CCIW game.  I don't even know how many points he finished with (didn't have the stats up and didn't have the sound on), but it had to be a ton.

I think he is a legitimate mid-major D1 player.  Wow is he something.

Allow me to be a little biased, but having just seen the game I will have to stop you short and say he played a good game amidst a bunch of people playing like garbage.  He holds the ball for every possession, which makes sense, then makes a move and either makes the basket or gangly flops and gets a call.  He's getting calls MJ wouldn't have gotten.  Heck, he's getting calls Kent wouldn't have gotten.  And the calls he doesn't get or that Wheaton does get, pops runs his mouth like bloody murder.  (I am remembering correctly that the coach is his dad, not the ref, right?)

I digress.  Wheaton played terrible.  Carthage aside from SD looked just as bad.  Wheaton missed a great opportunity and the refs missed a great final 5 minutes.  The game was just poor.

/RANT FINISH

don't hate, takes more than just bad refs to get 44 in a game

The Wheaton team seemed pretty flat last night.  I wonder if part of that can be attributed to the fact their bus broke down on the way to Kenosha.  They had to wait almost  1 1/2 for another one to come.

I think part of it had to do with the Wheaton team wishing the second bus never came. the start of the game was postponed to account for their delayed arrival. i think Wheaton was just scared to play Carthage and their poor new coach was having difficulty adjusting to CCIW league play.

Final from Kenosha:

Carthage 75, Wheaton 62

I got to give Wheaton some credit. They came north and played their hearts out. Here are a few observations from the game:

1) wheaton has a tall guy named Tim
2) Ben Panner attempted to set a new CCIW record for most airballs from behind the arc.
3) it seems wheaton is indeed in bad shape... i would challenge them to an endurance race. their whole team can run relay style and see if they can run further than i can by myself.

The Kenosha News gave Titan Q and me  a shout-out.

"Except for maybe a handful of savants who make frequent visits to the league's message board at D3hoops.com, no one knows the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin better than Bosko Djurickovic."

Your martyrdom is akin to that of Joan of Arc, the wise and stunning daughter of Sir Charles XXII who was slaughtered before her time was meant to come in the 4th century. Her whole life she advocated that what she believed was the truth; consequently, the truth that we hold self-evident: that the Red Men are going to dominate in dominating fashion come Wednesday, may get us some bad karma points, but the real points that matter are those that go through the hoop.

I predict Wheaton to have as many points as I have karma. And Carthage to have as many points as there is cumulative karma within this thread.

That is all.

People remarking about Wheaton's ranking should consider posting a list of 20 or so teams that are demonstrably better than Wheaton. I'm having a hard time deciding that when it comes to my ballot.

I agree Wheaton is too high. Who should be in all those spots above them and why?

Are you joking me right now? After they lost kent caveman, Wheaton is certainly going downhill. Let's apply some basic 8th grade statistics (which I'm sure we all know):

Wheaton  <  Hope
Hope < Carthage

Therefore, Wheaton < Carthage.

Wheaton would not even be a top 8 team if they used 8 players!

Here is my list of 20:

Wash U
John Carroll
St. Thomas
Carthage
UW-Point
UW-Whitewater
Guilford
Middlebury
Dartmouth
Dallas
Chapman
Augie
Amherst
Brandeis
St. Norbert
Stockton
Bradford High School
Mississippi College
Bo's Elementary School

it looks like a rough day in michigan for the CCIW...  however, wheaton looks way in worse shape than carthage. at least we only lost to ripon by 3. it's apparent that without brent caveman, wheaton are struggling. i anticipate steve d to win it all

Bosko is the man! He has made the Carthage basketball program into the stellar program that it is today
