CONGRATS TO STEVIE - DIII player of the year!

Way to go!
#2
I thought that the All-American team would be up by now.  When is it is supposed to be released?

With at least 1 game this season and at least 25 next season, (some quick math shows) Stevie D would need to average 25.3 points per game to equal the mark set by Gobczynski.  It will be fun to watch and see if he can keep up that pace and hit that mark.

Why (by the way) did Gobczynski have so few non-conference points?  Only 1,000 points came from non-conference play.  That is surprising to me.  Where Stevie is on pace for about half in CCIW play and half of his point to come from the non-confrence portion of the schedule.

Too bad Wheaton lost tonight in a close game, having three teams in the conference in the sectional would of been awesome.

Anyone have the story with that game?
#5
When will locations of sweet 16 games be posted?

Congrats to the Titans, on a spectacular game!

The Carthage IWU game is going to be great on Friday!  Here's to hoping Carthage hosts again! :)

That is why I threw this out there.  Some great thought by people who follow this a lot closer than I do.

By percentage...chances of CCIW teams making the Sweet 16:

Wheaton over MH Baylor (20%)
Wheaton over Texas Dallas (5%)

IWU over Central (80%)
IWU over Washington U (25%)

Carthage over Aurora (85%)
Carthage over St. Thomas (35%)

Thoughts?

Point taken!  That earned the title "Bracket of Death".

Having removed myself from division III ball for the last few years, and not familar with the "Bracket of Death" you refer to...what was the story with that?

Could it really be tougher than 6 of the top 15 teams in the same quadrant?

Here is a post I made one year ago...

I do see what you are saying that most people agree this is the most balanced bracket in year.

This quadrant of the backet is brutal!

It's nothing compared to last year's "Bracket of Death", which shall live in infamy.  Across these boards today you'll see most agreeing that the 2010 bracket is the most balanced in years.

Massey Ratings for the upper right bracket...

#1 - UW-Stevens Point
#2 - St. Thomas
#7 - Washington U.
#11 - Carthage
#14 - Carleton
#15 - Central
#22 - Illinois Wesleyan
#23 - St. Norbert
#26 - Wheaton
#27 - Texas-Dallas
#39 - Hope
#42 - Anderson
#47 - Mary Hardin-Baylor
#77 - Aurora
#158 - Westminster

Massey has IWU an underdog vs Central, Wheaton a favorite over both Mary Hardin-Baylor and Texas-Dallas, and Carthage a favorite over Aurora but an underdog vs St. Thomas (homecourt advantage not factored in).

To clarify the talk over the last day about NCAA tournament berths...
Am I correct in the understanding that Carthage gets in no matter what happens this weekend at the CCIW tournament and the CCIW could get two teams in if another team wins the tourament?
#14
Unable to attend the Carthage game Saturday, what was the dedication ceremony like before the game?
#15
Really tough loss tonight for the Redmen, to blow a lead like that in an important game is deflating.
I believe that Carthage has the easiest schedule the last four games.  Hopefully, they respond well and can build some momentum going into a tournament run.
