The Beavers certainly look to be strong this year. But I don't know if you can mark them as favorites just yet. Lots of guys coming off major injuries that will need to be healthy for them to be successful. If fully healthy though, the 1-2 punch of Aizenstadt and Ahern will be tough to beat in a 3-game conference series.
Until then though, have to think Wheaten, the reigning champs, should be favored again in the NEWMAC.

What the heck happened to Babson this year? Started out 17-5 with a bunch of quality wins (WPI twice, KSC, Suffolk, Worcester St) and a number one NE ranking then finished 3-9-1 with a bunch of terrible losses (Clark, Springfield, UMD, UMB) and an early exit in the NEWMAC capped by a smacking by USCGA. Crazy rollercoaster season for them. Anyone have an attempts at an explanation?

How is WPI still ranked in NE?

Wow! He was having a pretty nice freshman campaign too, leading the team with 6 homers. The Beavers might be in trouble without that big bat in the lineup. Is that known for sure?

Word from Wellesley is that Aizenstadt won't be back this year for the Beavers. They could still catch fire like they did last year in the tournament and prove why they were the number one team in NE earlier this year.

Excellent question. Funny how quickly fans jump off a team's bandwagon after a poor start.

I'm not sure. But it certainly seemed like it was a scheduled one inning. They had the bullpen going before Aizenstadt even threw a pitch.

UMB beating Wheaton is impressive. While I do think that Wheaton is not in for a very successful year in 2010, I would sstart to look at UMB as a dark horse for this year's LEC tournament and potentially regionals.

Incredible game today as Babson took down Worcester St in 13 innings on a walk off double. WOW! What a game. This team is really on fire right now.

Babson sweeps WPI with still no Aizenstadt. I think its pretty clear who the top team so far in the NEWMAC is. The Babson/Wheaton series in a couple weeks should be interesting.

WPI lost its first game of the season yesterday pretty convincingly and Babson has won 8 straight games, including back to back wins over Suffolk and KSC, without even using Aizenstadt yet! Anybody know where he is? Could Babson be saving their ace for this weekends double header against the nationally ranked WPI? Babson looks very strong. Should be a great, great day of baseball Saturday.

Anybody know who Babson's starter was against KSC? Threw a great game but I had never heard of the name and the kid was a senior. ???

Wheaton is struggling and WPI and Babson are riding win streaks at the beginning of the season. Is this the year Wheaton is removed from the ranks as a perennial top team in the country? I think so.

Hey guys,
There was a lot of change in power in the NEWMACs last year with Wheaton not making the tournament and both WPI and Babson making a splash in regionals (especially Babson's win over ECSU, what a game!). How do you think the NEWMAC teams will fair in NE this year?

So as the year begins to get going, how do you think this season will pan out in the NEWMACs?
