Central Region / Re: BB: MWC: Midwest Conference

wow, sure seems like st. norbert has some double standards. No problem with making a game official when they are winning but wasn't it just earlier this week when they protested a game in the eigth inning against beloit that they were losing? interesting....

I think we're picking nits here and missing the point. Beating a team with a .570 win% or a .600 win% is a good win. .570 or .580 is a great OWP (does any team in the central have a better one?).  Yes, the SLIAC teams hurt the OOWP but IWU, Case, and Emory help it.

Point is, there's a perception that WashU is beating on the SLIAC while other teams have played more difficult schedules and had better records. That's not true.

I really do not have an issue with Washington U's schedule.  They play teams in the area.  Not much else they can do.

I am more worried about several other things.

- They have played 26 games and are 4 games above .500.
- They tend to play a lot of 7 inning games for double headers.
- The appear to have only 1 true threat as a pitcher.  As highlighted last week when they played Beloit and Webster.  They threw Rogoff 1st game against Beloit (7 inn) then almost were 10 run ruled the next 3 games.

They were absolutely manhandled by Webster.

I think no question if game 1 was a nine inning game against Beloit that Wash U also loses that game. They appear to have very thin pitching depth and Beloit was a hit away from winning that game. I think if they played 2 more innings then they definitely win that game but anyways that's not what happened, I just think Wash U is very vulnerable on the mound and that was exposed last weekend by BC and Webster.

Anyone want to take a shot at ranking the central region? The more I look at it, the more confused it makes me.

1. Wheaton 15-4 (8-3 in region)
2. Augustana 13-4 ( 8-4)
3. Webster 13-5 (9-1)
4. Simpson 10-6 (7-2)
5. Greenville 13-7 (10-3)
6. Coe 10-7 (9-5)
7. Carthage 11-6 (5-3)
8. Beloit 11-5 (7-3)
9. North Central 13-3 (7-2)
10. Central 13-6 (9-4)

There is not a ton of SOS factored in yet, but the in-region records are a large part of the bids. Do I really think that Greenville should be #5, no, but their numbers warrant their spot at this point.

I realize SOS isn't added in but I'm not sure how you justify putting Simpson, Greenville, and Coe ahead of Carthage and Beloit at this point. Neither Beloit or Carthage has gotten off to the start people may have expected but you just look at the schedules that they have played compared to the schedules that the three teams you have ranked ahead of them and you can understand how some of those games could have gone either way. Both Beloit and Carthage have just one loss that I would say is a bad loss or a game that they should have not lost. Carthage's being to Benedictine and Beloit's being to Wisconsin Lutheran. I'll rank the Central like this at this point although I suspect when all is said and done it may play out differently.

1. Wheaton
2. Augustana
3. Webster
4. Carthage
5. Beloit
6. Simpson
7. North Central
8. Central
9. Greenville
10. North Park

on the cusp: Coe, St. Norbert

Big Poppa, curious as to where you see other Central Region teams stacking up in the national rankings. Do you see teams such as Carthage, Beloit, Augustana as being kind of on the cusp or close to that top 25 at all?

interesting Cubs, do you have any idea why their catcher, Whitty did not play either game against whitewater? Is he injured as well?

it is my understanding that the midwest conference actually increased the number of games that each team can play per season by two games beginning this season so technically Beloit has the chance to add two more games to the schedule at some point it something works out. It would be great to see them matched up against a CCIW school, I'm sure that after that game against Augustana in Florida, the Bucs would love another shot at them.
