I was at Methodist this last weekend and think I know a little into that. I had not heard that Taylor was out till you guys told me but while there also heard that now Emerson is out. So they for this year they have lost 2/3 of their starting rotation and all of their bullpen. It hurts them up front but what is really hurting them is they have no one to hand the ball to when the game is on the line. CNU has been very lucky/good/recruiting studs in the closer department for many years now but all the sudden they have nothing there. This is biting them in the close games. They have good arms when you watch them just not the type you have gotten use to seeing. They got Vaughn back and he does not look bad so that will help but they need to develop some of the talent they have into a bullpen. Their offense is pretty much the same as last year, not built to score a lot of runs so their pitching needs to keep them in the game or it will not matter. Their current ERA of 6.02 just isn't getting it done especially when you have only score 6+ runs twice (and lost both) so a little growth and some hard work they should steadily get better. But I fear .500 is going to be a good record for them this year.

Both very true observations and maybe mine was overstated or miss stated, I am just saying they need to get the O rolling or it is a very long year. They are returning all but 1 in a offense that was not very good last year and so far they have been cold. It is very early and I know they will probably getting it going just hope t is sooner than later.

Rollin - Very true about not winning the games you should. Seeing that both of us have been on the USAS board and I have been following the USASouth for a long time I see this as a growing year for CNU. I do not think they are prepared at this point to really be a top 20 team. I think they will find their personnel loses from last year will hit them harder than they think and if their offense doesn't get on track very long season is ahead of them.

D-Bat - Understand the numbers but the only thing the top 5 teams have in common is they all won their regular season championships so that must carry enough weight. But I have never understood how the NCAA comes up with these numbers. The history of the the pool C bids for the south has been if the reg season shamps win their conference tourneys then maybe the second place team gets in otherwise really no shot as I do not think that many people outside the south think much of the teams here. No really fair but the way it has always been.

Well I hope CNU gets in as it gives me another South team to root for! So now where does everyone feel they go? Last time RMC made it they were sent up north think that Methodist will get that treatment this year? Of the ranked teams in the south which team do you think it is that everyone does not want to draw for game one? My vote is CNU if they get in with the pitching. Salisbury is a 1A as they play very solid baseball and have good pitching up top. But that is my opinion.

I am with D-Bat I have no idea how Frostburg ever go ranked period! But from what I hear CNU doesn't think they are in as they are not practicing so...

And to bring a point to one of the issues I have right now with the current ranking system > Frostburg was not even 500 in their conference. Not sure who that works but hey...

What I do not understand is that the 1 game CNU is missing is a rain out against Salisbury. Why not just play it?
#12
CNU actually has a rain out with Salisbury they could reschedule and I do not understand why they haven't unless Salisbury has said no.

I think that CNU will level out and be in good shape if;

Bridgewater wins the ODAC - Two more loses for Shenandoah (played a weak schedule if you look at the OWP) and things are very tight with CNU
Birmingham Southern is already out and has to play tourney
Milsap is on the edge with tourney left also but....
Salisbury is in CAC
Think Huntingdon is Pool B

Yea I would say he is border line Indy, but that is me. I just find it interesting to watch as I am rooting for all the players in USA South. I am also the voice for the releivers as I was a releiver a long time ago so I stick up for my boys! That is why I do not understand why Fleishman (broke every conference record etc and has very good numbers) doesn't even get a look but I do realize that you guys have to prirotize your time to see all you need to and a D3 closer is definitely not on the list. But hey I will still do my lobbying and have a couple nice arms come along in others bullpens to work you over on in the coming years. SO just roll your eyes and ignore us releivers because as you know we are an odd bunch!! Thanks for all the info as we do not really get an insight into this kind of stuff!

Catfish - Thanks for all the great info. For my uninformed point of view I find it very interesting.

So with this string going on would you say;
Chrismon (CNU P) - shot at draft
Fleischmann (CNU P Closer) - any shot at Indy?
Swatrout (NCW P) - any shout at Indy?
Welker (Ferrum C) - any shot at indy?
Alexander (NCW Inf) - any shot at Indy?

And how about Kirks at Averett? any thoughts? Figure Chrismon will go next year and then Taylor may be closer.

Thoughts?
