I think bringing in a point guard this year to get acclimated to the system would serve him well to backup Ryf during his senior season.

Ryf will be a junior next season.

The UWSP recruit from Joliet is Curtis Parker...6' guard.

Rumor has it Darnell Harris will be playing for UW-Whitewater next year.  More good news for Whitewater.

I think a big concern for Point is Dan Tillema's foul trouble.  I've seen one game in person.  Why is he getting into foul trouble?  Is he guarding taller players?  Faster players?  Is he just foul prone?  Are they "dumb" fouls?

Here's a little look:

@ Whitewater 4 fouls-22 minutes
River Falls 5 fouls-26 min.
@ Platteville 4 fouls-23 min.
@ La Crosse 2 fouls-33 min.
@ Stout 5 fouls-23 min.
Eau Claire 5 fouls-22 min.
@ River Falls 4 fouls-33 min.

I've seen about five pointer games this year and I have no explanation for Dan's fouls.  Foul prone? Maybe?  They aren't taller or faster players in most cases.  Most of them are him being aggressive.  A decent amount on the offensive side, either trying to post up or charging.  He needs to stay clear of foul trouble if they have a chance of winning the WIAC tournament.  On another note, Jason Ziemer has been getting some playing time.  Nice to see him shake some rust off after two years of being injured/not playing.

No Chris Davis in the starting line-up for Whitewater tonight at Oshkosh...

Details anyone?

Oshkosh makes a change with Johnson and Nickel replacing Royston and Wurtz in the starting line-up....

Chris Davis out due to low-grade MCL sprain suffered in practice yesterday.

Is Abegglen back on UWSP?  I saw him on the live stats during the first half or was this an error?

Here's the release from UW-Stevens Point...

http://athletics.uwsp.edu/mobile/index.aspx?story=3356

He says he plans to stay on and teach until the end of the academic year before pursuing other football opportunities. I also wonder what it means for his wife Sheila the very successful women's soccer coach.

From the rumblings I heard around the university is he was forced out by the new AD.

I never realized there were so few WI players on RF, only 3.  They have a lot of talent, size and experience - - should be the favorites.

I was impressed with Brezinski against the badgers.  Played well against guys who were bigger, stronger and faster than him.  I agree that Point doesn't have the depth.  If D. Tillema gets injured they will be in a hurt of trouble.

Giordana was a complete non factor.  I am kind of surprised he is starting.  To me he is a situational player.  He has trouble creating his own shot and is a liability on defense.

Would have loved to see J. Harris play and see how he would have matched up.

Is the D2 scrimmage vs. Mich. Tech. open to the public?  Do they do this every season?

What time on Friday is the scrimmage?

Can someone remind me the story with Kincaid...?  He didn't play in any games for LAX last year and started/played in 12 the year before... was it an injury or did he quit or get dismissed from the team?  (I'm not interested in any "juicy" details that might be involved in the situation, just the facts about what happened).

As such, is he eligible to play right away at Point, or does he have to sit out a year?  Furthermore, he was a sophomore in 09-10... does that mean he has two years of eligibility left?

I know he wasn't at LAX at least for the spring semester last year.  I am not sure why he didn't go out for the team.  As far as the rest of the questions, hopefully someone can fill us in.

I believe UWSP's first practice is in a few days, they seem to be guard heavy - lots of 2s and 3s.  Who are their bigs?  Who is the best big that we will face in the league?

Guard heavy is probably a good way of describing Point's roster this year but they have some good athletes that can guard bigger players as well.  Players on the roster that would be considered normal bigs are Jordan Brezinski and Micah Parlow.  They had another 6'7" newcomer from Appleton with the last name Van Handel but he isn't on the student directory so he isn't enrolled in school.  They also have a handful of guys 6'4" to 6'6" that can guard the 3 and 4 if need be.  There are so many new players this year that I'm not exactly sure what to expect from their games.

... Search without a space.  Nate Van Handel is at Point (his first name was previously reported as Alex a month or so ago... but it's definitely Nate).

That makes sense PS, I was searching with the space.  Point needs all the size they can get so I'm glad he is enrolled.  Like I said earlier though, I have no idea what to expect from all these newcomers.  It looks like I'll finally see what Jason Ziemer can do, I have been interested in watching him play since he was announced as attending Point.  With how high he was ranked and recruited, I'm expecting him to be a big contributor.

Ya know, certain other Point teams have been really guard heavy... 2006-07 comes to mind.  Of course, that was the year that a big guy destroyed them in the playoffs when Wash U came to town... but Ruths did that to pretty much everybody that year.

Very true, I'm not worried that we are so guard heavy.  Our guards are very talented.  There are just so many unknowns with how many new players there are and how many seniors graduated.  Experience goes a long way, that's something only a few Pointers on this years team have.

Kincaid will also help fill in as a big.  I am not too worried about being guard heavy.  A lot of new faces though.  I would imagine the Tillemas would fill 2 of the starting spots (either 1, 2, or 3) Brezinski starting 5.  The other two spots would likely be up for grabs.  I am excited about Ziemer also.  Hopefully he can stay healthy.

As far as transfers for Point...Kurt Kincaid, Trevor Hass, and Micah Parlow are all enrolled at UWSP for the fall semester.

I heard Byrd is attending school in Ohio. Central State is the university I was told, but I haven't heard of it.

Noticed both Dan and Tyler Tillema were in photos taken at the Pointer golf outing on Monday.  :) Also heard that a certain tall transfer student may not be at Point this year after all.
Care to remind us who that was supposed to be?  It's been such a long off-season, I can't seem to remember who the transfer was.
Well its either Hass or Parlow. Either way no biggie, Point has enough incoming guys.

I heard Kincaid (from Lacrosse I think) was going to transfer to point, but no longer will.  I am guessing that is the tall transfer you heard about.
